Greetings loved ones! I decided to use this important website to let you know about my progress and how you can help support me through my treatment for breast cancer.
I went to get my overdue mammogram before I left for Germany for a work assignment. Once I did that there was a flurry of medical activity that included a sonogram, more mammograms and five biopsies. A few days before I left on the trip the radiology oncologist called to say the first biopsy indicated I had stage two breast cancer.
While I waited for the results I decided to go to Germany to learn more about treatment and to prepare for surgery. I had excellent acupuncture treatment with Ying Cao to build up my immune system.
I returned in three weeks and met with my surgeon, Jennifer Plunkett. We decided on a lumpectomy and removal of some lymph nodes. I had the surgery on the morning of Monday Oct 3rd and returned home that evening. I am recuperating at home and doing very well. My energy is low and I am a little sore but feel optimistic because Jennifer called to let me know that the tumor was smaller than they first measured and that she got it all.
