Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.  Ben's journey with this began in August 2019 when he had some internal bleeding. We were told then that he had liver damage. After some surgeries to repair the damage to the veins in his stomach, we began the journey to recovery. Since then, he has had continuous battles with internal bleeding, low hemoglobin, water retention, along with many other issues. He has been hospitalized several times with the last year and a half and continues to get worse. Each time he gets sick, it is faster and more serious. When we started this journey, they anticipated that he may need a liver transplant at some point in the future. But now, it has progressed so quickly that he needs a transplant much sooner than anticipated. He is currently at the U of M, working with the transplant team to see if he is a candidate. If approved, he will have a long, difficult journey ahead. If denied, we do not know what will happen as a transplant is his only chance at prolonged health. This has been a difficult journey so far and we still have a long road ahead either way. I will do my best to keep this updated often. Thank you for your support! We really do appreciate it!
