Benjamin Reed Orcutt was born on May 4, 2016 ( Star Wars Day!) at 11:25 am via C-section. He was 9 pounds, 6 ounces and 20 inches long. Shortly after birth, it was determined that Ben had two congenital heart defects: pulmonary atresia and ventricular septal defect (VSD). He was transported by Teddy Bear Transport from Harris Southwest to Cook Children's NICU. He had his first heart surgery to place a temporary shunt on May 9, 2016 and had a valve bypass surgery on October 31, 2016. He went home on May 23, 2016 after a 19 day stay.
