Becky Collins Backing Becky Collins!

First post: Mar 25, 2017 Latest post: Aug 31, 2017
The second week of March 2017, Becky found out she had a compression fracture in her T4 vertebra. Soon after that we discovered there was a mass/tumor pushing on her T4 and after a series of appointments in the Twin Cities, we decided to get a referral to the Mayo Clinic (which is where we—my mom and I—were 7 years ago exactly this March after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb 2010). On Friday, March 17 she had her appointment and several scans and xrays at Mayo Clinic. We returned and drove down again on Monday, March 20 for a biopsy and consultations. They confirmed it was cancer, but unable to determine the origin of it at this point.

We came back again on Wednesday, March 22 for her pre-op and spine surgery was scheduled for early morning on Thursday, March 23. Her surgery with Dr. Rose at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester (part of the Mayo Clinic) was about 6 hours long went very well. They took out most of the tumor surrounding the spine for decompression and put in a titanium rod and screws to stabilize.  So far her recovery is progressing on schedule! We SO appreciate all of your prayers, support and encouragement!
