Beau Becnel Beau’s Heart Surgery

First post: Oct 2, 2021 Latest post: Dec 7, 2021
Here is our story- When we went in for the anatomy scan of our sweet baby Beau, We were told they were not able to see everything on his heart, so they were referred us to a pediatric cardiologist. They performed a Fetal Echocardiogram and we were completely devastated by the news we received. Our boy has Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). “ Transposition of the great arteries is a serious but rare heart defect present at birth (congenital), in which the two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed (transposed).”
While the diagnosis was hard to hear, it is a relatively less dangerous heart defect to repair, with less long-term side effects than other congenital heart defects.

We temporarily relocated to New Orleans on 9/30/2021 to be with Beau while he is in Oschner Main awaiting his surgery date.

Beau currently already got his special procedure known as an Atrial Balloon Septostomy which is necessary to establish oxygen-rich blood flow to his body. Within 5-10 days of birth, he will have an open-heart surgery that includes, switching the location of the pulmonary artery and the aorta, to establish proper circulation throughout the heart, lungs, and body. In addition, the coronary artieries that supply blood to these two arteries, must be moved as well.

After surgery, Beau will continue to be at Oschner Main for at least two weeks but could be more depending on recovering.

Beau will have frequent appointments with his cardiologist, any further complications are very unlikely. We are very thankful for the amount of love and support we are receiving from our family and friends.

If you are able to donate, even the smallest dollar amount would help us. All donations will go toward lodging, gas for the back and forth travels, food costs while We are staying here in New Orleans with Beau, and all medical expenses from the surgery and care for Beau. We are currently working with our insurance and Oschner to get an estimate on the medical costs, but we are anticipating them to be very high. We set a limit on this Go Fund Me as it is required, but we will adjust it if necessary. Any additional money will go into a bank account for Beau, for any future medical needs he may have.

If you would prefer to donate through Venmo you can Venmo us @Dylan-Becnel or Cash App us at $TiffanyBecnel since the GoFundMe does take a percentage of donations.

Whether or not you are able to donate, we are asking for ALL thoughts and prayers. As this will be a very long and hard process for our entire family. Thank you in advance for any donations and all prayers.
