Hi there. My name is Barb Pearson. If you’re receiving this, then like myself, you are fortunate to call Aubrei, Keith & their girls friends! When Aubrei shared the news about her upcoming surgery, I ordered, I mean asked her nicely, to let me intervene on her behalf.
Aubrei’s ankle has been in constant pain and having frequent sprains for quite some time. She finally found a Dr that would really listen to her and look for some answers. The imaging found chunks of bone floating, torn ligaments and torn cartilage. Just writing that makes me cringe and feel her pain - it certainly explains the constant pain and frequent sprains.
The only real solution is surgery. They will use artificial cartilage to reconnect what has torn & then allow it to grow and bond to the implant. She must stay off her feet for 8 weeks. (Yes, 8). Followed by 8 more weeks of introducing light pressure In a walking boot. It will take quite some time for Aubrei to be cleared to drive.
Needless to say, they’re a bit overwhelmed. I have been in her position with little kids and it’s not pretty. That, along with the fact that their family has helped me, so many others and perhaps you, is why I am asking for your help.
The Mathies’ will appreciate anything you can do! To make it as easy as possible, here is a link to the Caring Bridge Website where you can sign up for something as simple as
Picking up a grocery order, drive the girls to dance or Aubrei to the Dr etc.
We have broken things down to small commitments to allow you to choose your preference of tasks and minimize the impact on your schedule. Know you will be making a meaningful difference for this family that doesn’t usually ask for help.
Thank you for your consideration-and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
