My Daughter Ashlyn Rivera is a very active young lady she has been since she was a child. She plays sports , loves, and puts her whole effort into them. She runs Cross country, track, basketball, and Soccer.

On July 20, 2017 around noon I received a call that has since changed our whole life around. She was in an accident and that I should go to the hospital, I asked to speak to her but the officer said she was unconscious and I knew it was serious. She was taken to our local hospital and then soon flown to San Antonio University Hospital Trauma 1 due to her Injuries. I was not able to go with her I had to drive there with my family. She had Severe traumatic Brain Injury and was taken immediately to the OR while driving to SA I got a call from nurses saying she was very critical. When we got to the Hospital they took us to the family counseling room and the doctor said to us "people with these type of head injuries do not survive 98% don't make it" hearing those words was heart breaking how can you even comprehend. The next day she had a second surgery because she had a blood clot. She is our miracle child because even though she gave us a few scares through those critical days she survived because she is strong and a fighter and had many people praying for her. We are still in the PDICU because her brain was retaining fluid and needed to have a drain inserted. Due to all her injuries she will need Rehab and more care that it is only available here in San Antonio, Houston or Austin we chose to stay in San Antonio.
