Dear Family & Friends of Ashley,

I am starting this Caring Bridge site so that Ashley has one platform to update you all easily.  On October 5th, Ashley saw an Ocular Oncologist who confirmed that she had a 27mm tumor in her left eye that would be called Melanoma. He referred her to see the Oncologist with the UofM.

In the meantime, she visited the Mayo Clinic on October 12th. A full day of appointments! They confirmed this diagnosis of Choroidal Melanoma. This tumor is too large for Plaque Radiation and other Radiation will only result in needing to have the eye removed completely anyway due to complications this causes.

Ashley will have an Enucleation on October 25th at the Mayo in Rochester. Meaning she will have her eye removed completely to remove the attached tumor. But don't you worry, she will look at you just fine with her googly eye prosthetic :) lol

All jokes aside, she has already lost complete site in her eye and needs to get this cancer out! Pathology & Genetic testing will be done following her surgery.
We will then know more about any further treatment needed. At this time, she is clear of having any cancer show in any other locations in her body. She will continue to be followed up on with her Doctor at the Mayo and the UofM Oncologist.

There are different links under “ways to help” if you want to help support Ashley during this difficult time! Even if it’s a few dollars, it all adds up to help cover costs!
