Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On October 31, 2018, Art was diagnosed with Stage 2 rectal cancer.  He underwent surgery on December 21, 2018, to remove the affected area.  He also had an ileostomy.  The surgery was originally scheduled for four hours; it ended up taking six.  The surgeon advised all went well, but after the pathology report came back and a visit to the oncologist , it was discovered he was actually at Stage 3 (meaning the cancer had penetrated the lining of the intestines), and one of the 15 nodes the surgeon removed was malignant.  At that point, they advised he would have to undergo chemo and radiation treatments.  He had a PICC line inserted on January 30th so that he could begin the chemo treatments on February 5th.  Unfortunately, on February 1st, we had to take him to the ER where it was discovered he had blood clots along the PICC line, and it had to be removed.  Our journal entries are to keep everyone updated from that moment onwards ...  Again, thank you for visiting, and for everyone's continued support.  xo
