Ariana Giampietro my Sister Lisa’s second grandchild is on maintenance chemo for histiocytosis. She is my great niece, daughter of Adam and Anne (my niece) and Nico’s little Sis. Sweet Ariana is a smiley tiger and has faced her ordeal courageously- even at 9 months without being able to speak of her discomfort - you could see how the steroids and surgical removal of the lesions on her spine and head caused an enormous amount of discomfort and water retention; yet, smiling Ariana remained engaged with her family, happy and adoring of her big brother Nico.
Lisa continues to make frequent trips to see her grandbabies Nico and Ariana. I have gone to see them as well as Johanna our other Sister. Adam has a big family too- EVERYONE is very proud of Anne’s and Adam’s parenting and love and care for Ariana and Nico through this difficult process of navigating Ariana’s illness. No parent should EVER have to suffer the heart breaking news of a potentially life threatening illness of their child- however- Anne and Adam didn’t wait a second and consulted with physicians and were proactive in coordinating Ariana’s treatment and surgery and she is in recovery now!! Thanks be to God!
