This is a synopsis of what has been going on with my beloved mother: Over the past month mom has fallen 3 times. After the last fall, she was taken to OSU ER. There they found that she had sustained 7 fractures, including 3 fractured ribs, a case of pneumonia and significant edema. She was there for a few days up until the point that she made it clear that she wanted to go back to Willow Brook. Unfortunately, her health declined while at Willow Brook to the point that it was clear on the morning of November 25th that she needed immediate intervention and was eventually sent to the OSU Medical Center again but this time to the ICU (SICU). Shortly after arriving, she was sedated and put on a ventilator. After her stats stabilized, they woke her up and were able to do some PT with her and we were able to interact with her. She really wanted to just hold our hands and have us stay with her. At this point we thought she was on the road to being able to recover. Unfortunately, when they attempted to take her off the ventilator she panicked and was unable to be stable without the ventilator so she was hooked up again. After an unsuccessful second attempt at taking her off the ventilator, she was sedated to calm her system and get her back to the point where she is stabilized. As of last night she very sleepy and not very responsive. Dad is going to speak with the doctor today and hopefully we can get a better idea of what is going on and what the next steps are.
