Ann had been having chest pain periodically over the last few years. A few months ago it started happening more frequently and the pain became much more severe. In September, the doctors started running tests to figure out what was happening with her heart. They discovered that she has an abnormality with her heart that she was probably born with. The main artery on her right side is instead coming from the left side and is being pinched between her aorta and her main pulmonary valve which they think is causing the chest pain. On September 26, (her birthday), the doctor called and said she needed bypass surgery. They are going to do the surgery this Thursday morning, October 20, 2016. The doctors will try to transpose the blood vessel and move it from it's current position between these two arteries to a better spot. If this can not be done, they are hoping to tie off the vessel and do a bypass.
