Amy Green

If you know Amy Green, you know she will help anyone, anytime, with anything. Whether it's 10 bucks, a long-term loan, physical labor or advice for the lovelorn, you'll get it along with a heartfelt smile and a conversation that will leave you feeling known and loved. Over the past 23 years, Amy has built Ivanna Cone into a local powerhouse bringing joy to Lincoln through handcrafted ice cream, mothering generations of Coneheads, and paying forward her profits to benefit a variety of community nonprofits. Most important, she’s created Grace and Tom, two adult humans who have followed her into the dual family businesses of creating ice cream and caring for community.

On Friday, June 5, Amy was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer (HER2-positive) that has metastasized to her liver, lungs and spine. She had been not feeling well for some time, and a visit to the doctor earlier in the week resulted in a hospital admission, CT scan and blood tests. She had surgery the next day to remove two kidney stones and began chemo a day later. As of Friday, June 12, she is still in the hospital but expecting to be released soon ... and looking forward to continuing to live life on Amy’s terms.

Here’s where you come in.

We’ve created this site to share updates on Amy’s wellbeing as well as multiple ways to help her and her family. Watch for a GoFundMe and a Meal Train, both coming soon. We’ll also be figuring out how best to support Ivanna Cone during this time, already made more difficult due to coronavirus restrictions. Working together we can relieve the burden on Amy, Grace and Tom so they can focus on healing, love and life.

Please send them plenty of loving energy while respecting their privacy and capacity, and please direct questions or offers to Shannon or Becki. Cards may be sent to Amy at 2901 A St, #102, Lincoln, NE 68510.

Thank you for loving Amy and doing what you can to help her, just as she helps everyone she meets.

Love,

Shannon Mitchell Boekstal
