Welcome to Alvin's CaringBridge website.   We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.   We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Alvin was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma, in February, 2017, after a 3 year remission from his previous diagnosis in 2012.   With this type of lymphoma, which is a blood cancer, if it has returned, the chances of it returning again are high.  Because of this, the best treatment is a round of extremely high dose chemo-immunotherapy followed by a stem-cell transplant, or bone marrow transplant.  This procedure is done at the Massey Cancer Center at VCU in Richmond and will take about 6 - 8 weeks.  I'm JoElla (Jo) and I will be here with him through this and will try to post almost every day and let y'all know how he's doing.    As I'm writing this, he's sitting beside me saying "five weeks and I'm outta here".  Those of you who know him, I'm sure can picture him saying that!  He is ready to get this going and done and get back home to his beautiful daughter, Paige and his awesome son, Trevor.   Feel free to post comments and well wishes any time!   If you have anything you would like to post to him privately please feel free to send a text or call me, 757-328-7164, and I will make sure he gets your message!
