As most of you know Al has CMML a form of leukemia. He has been receiving treatment from MD Anderson in Houston for the past 4 years and really has this disease under control.
What we didn’t know was that the disease was masking symptoms of another illness, pneumonia. On March 22 Al’s heart sent out a warning. He went into atrial fibulation and his blood pressure dropped so low that he fainted and fell out of his chair. For this he was awarded a goose egg on his forehead and a cut above his lip. EMS transported him to the local hospital in Clayton, GA where they ran scans to determine there were no broken bones or internal hemorrhaging. They stitched up his lip and ran blood tests which indicated the pneumonia. We are looking at this as a blessing in disguise.
