Welcome to Alan's CaringBridge website. Friends and Family have shown a wonderful outpouring of Prayers and Support. We are going to use this site to keep family and friends updated.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Alan received some disappointing news on his early August birthday....he has a cancer battle ahead of him.

He experienced some abdominal pain and lots of indigestion, gas, etc over the last several weeks. The doctor felt a mass so scheduled a CT scan on Alan's birthday. He received a call later in the day that it was cancer and would be seeing oncology.

Seventeen years ago, Alan had testicular cancer. They removed a testes and monitored for 4+ years. This is also a testicular cancer (not the same cancer but a new occurrence and likely a different type).

It's been a roller coaster ride the last several days! Alan had a CT scan of the chest, ultrasound of teste, MRI of brain, CT biopsy, blood work, etc. Everything has come back negative, which is great news - the cancer (multiple masses) is contained to the abdominal area.  They suspect it is a fast growing cancer, which typically reacts well to chemo.

The plan is 4 cycles of a strong chemotherapy regiment (one week of chemo followed by three weeks off; four times). Following the chemo, the treatment may involve radiation and/or surgery, depending on what the scans show.

We're very thankful to have Mayo Clinic in our backyard. The doctors, chemo team, etc have been wonderful.

Needless to say, this has been tough news and has altered our calendar significantly, yet we try to maintain normalcy for the family. Several of you can relate and we look to you as examples of strength, resilience, and perseverance!

We're trusting in God's hands and confident with the team. Hope is strong to beat this beast!

The power of prayer is immense....appreciate your prayers!
