Dad had been having swelling in his bilateral lower extremities that didn't seem to respond much to oral diuretics. He had also been having low energy for some time. Dad had some tests done at BroMenn on Monday, August 28th, then saw his primary nurse practictioner and ended up going to BroMenn ER that same day. Some spots were found on his liver and we were told there was possible colon issues. Had a colonoscopy and liver biopsy on Thursday, August 31st. We were able to bring Dad home on Saturday, September 2nd. We will await results and find out how to proceed. Saw oncologist and his primary (both in Bloomington) on Thursday, September 7th. At the end of the week, we noticed that Dad was developing an altered mental status which caused us to be concerned. We also noticed some abdominal pain over the weekend. We decided the evening of Sunday, September 10th to head up to Mayo Clinic. Jim and Lucy Slagel brought Dad, Mom and I up to the hospital and we safely arrived at the ER about 1:30 am. Praise God for safe travels and good weather! We did not wait long before they took Dad back and started getting him worked up and getting scans done. Dad got admitted.
