Adam White and his family have been a part of the motocross community for many years. On Saturday July 24th, Adam suffered serious injuries from an accident at the track in Joliet, IL. Adam was airlifted from St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet to the UChicago Medical Center. The team at UChicago was able to triage his injuries which include several small brain bleeds, fractured pelvis, wrist, ribs, tibia, fibula, facial fractures, thoracic compression fractures, minor trauma to arteries in his neck, and a collapsed lung.
Adam is currently being treated in the surgical ICU. Fortunately, his brain bleeds have remained stable. Slowly he is becoming more responsive to family and medical teams, able to answer questions and report pain.
The first of his surgeries is scheduled for July 27 with priority to given to his leg given the complex nature of the fractures. Adam’s wife, Emilie, has been by his side since his arrival at UChicago. Their sons, Noah (5) & Marcus (2) are being cared for by their Grandparents- Todd and Susan, and Aunt & Uncle- Christine and Mike Jeffery. Emilie’s siblings have also been present, flying in from out of state and making trips to the hospital to provide food, comfort, and necessities. Additionally, many family members, friends, and colleagues from near and far have reached out with words of love, encouragement, and prayers. Please know all of that support has not gone unnoticed.
Many have asked how they can rally behind Adam and his family during this time. Adam’s road to recovery will be long and involved. The medical bills as a result of this accident will be extensive. Please consider donating to help defray the medical costs.
