A letter from Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through.
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

"It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.

I need you here so badly, you are part of my plan.
There is so much that we can do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you.... in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain.

And now I am contented... that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile."

So if you meet somebody who is sad and low;
Just lend a hand to pick them up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;

Dear Father who art in Heaven...
Please join our family on this Thanksgiving day
And bless each one as we sit down to pray
As we remember those who have joined You above
So dearly missed and deeply loved.

Please provide us strength on this Thanksgiving day
Bless us with memories of those faraway...
Please grant patience to family and friends as we grieve
And help us reach out to others who are bereaved.

Think about you very often----I am so happy that your family is doing well. I know how much you miss Noelle and wish she could be with the four of you. During the last year, our family, too, battled the evil of cancer. Our youngest daughter, Allison, was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma at 32 weeks of pregnancy. She has an adorable 8 month old son, John Paul, who was delivered five and half weeks early. After his delivery, she went through six very aggressive cycles of chemotherapy; recently she had her 3 month post-chemo Pet Scan which showed no signs of active cancer at this time. You can follow her journey on her blog, be-not-afraid.org. Please send your prayers our way.

I know it is getting close to the anniversary of Noelle earning her angel wings. Noelle was the second child I followed through her battle. I feel in love with this adorable, bright and lovely girl. I still have my list of things learned from Noelle that Dave started. Some days when life is tough, I pull out my list, look at Noelle's photo and keep on truckin. I hope you are all doing ok. Today my calendar came up with a reminder that Noelle had died. I came to leave a message and I see I am not alone in remember this very sad day in September. Noelle was one of the first children I followed on Caringbridge. It broke my heart the day I read the shocking news she had died. My heart weeps for a little girl I watched grow and make me smile. I remember watching her video of the fireworks and hearing her adorable little laugh. I wish her story could have ended differently, but I want you to know, I have a list of the things Dave wrote that Noelle had taught him that I reread from time to time. She was a beautiful gift with such a short life. Yet it was a life well lived. Thanks for sharing your daughter and your family's journey here at Caringbridge.

A note to all of the fine people who have kept up with Noelle's caring bridge. Please pray for her dear cousin, Tammy, who was so diligent about supporting Noelle and loving her through her short life. Tammy was also diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer and now it has spread throughout her organs. Tammy is very courageous and is ready to meet Noelle up in heaven. Glad to hear things are going well. Kevin and I took my mom and Emily and Alex to D.C. during the break too!! Small world. We went out there to visit my sister Rhonda who lives about an hour outside of D.C.. But we spent the first two days in D.C. and then returned for Arlington Cemetery on Saturday. We even went to Colonial Willaimsburg one of the days. Kevin and the kids had never been there either. Too bad we didn't know each other were going to be there. We could have hooked up.

My two daughter's attend Providence Catholic school. I have never even heard of your family or of the great loss you suffered losing Noelle until one day when I went to pick up my children from school. My daughter Hailey walked me to the back of the playground to the tree planted in Noelle's memory and told me that we had to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to Noelle because it was her favorite song. I don't know if this is true, but I thought it would be comforting to know that Noelle's memory continues to live on in children who never even had the pleasure of meeting her.

We were at the garden by the Kenosha Museum a few days ago and a Monarch Butterfly fluttered around while we were taking pictures. We think of Noelle instantly when we see butterflies! There is something magical about butterflies that kids get so excited about when they see them. It was nice to read your recent update and glad to hear how well you are doing. Just wanted to let you all know that I am thinking about you. I was so disappointed that our trip to Kenosha fell while you were still out of town.... hopefully we can connect again soon. I found myself thinking of you quite a bit today when I was scheduling a trip today to Chicago to go to the American Girl store with Elaina for her birthday and I still remember the post about Tessa's special birthday trip there with Noelle. I'm hoping we have a memorable and fun filled trip like you did.

What an awesome gift of life all those people gave in Noelle's memory!

Dear Naylor's,
Noelle's legacy will live on forever because her life touched us all. For our MLK Day of Service project my first graders cut the fronts off cards and sent them to St Jude's. I shared Noelle's story and her picture with my students. She inspired another 22 children. It just keeps on growing!
