Jessi is getting so big!!! It has been so long since I have seen her! She looks like she is doing well. As far as the potty training goes....a LOT of the children that I work with now have the same issue. She will get it down (she's always done things when she is ready). Glad to see everything is going well with you all!

I find it kind of creepy that someone would send a message anonomously like that. It sounds like a possible kidnapping to me. I hope who ever sent that message will come forward so we in her family don't have to worry about her safety along with everything else that is happening. These two kids have had more than their share of pain. I hope that whoever sent that message understands the fear it sent through me, especially with the events that are already being looked at.
Sarah, Grace and Jessi,
I love you with all my heart and I hope that you are all safe. Hang in there. Hopefully all of the mess of the past several months will be done and justice will be occur. If not here, I know that God knows what happened and will take care of it.

See you this weekend. I Love You.

Sarah- I know that seeing the words written on paper can often be such a blow when it comes to confirming a diagnosis. But you are absolutely right that you know your child better than anyone else and you have to trust your gut. Today is sad, but the coming days will get better. Hang in there and we are praying for you. You are so strong and such an inspiration to all of us.
Lots of love,
Abigail

I too, have an autistic child who is almost 2 1/2 yrs old. Ryan was finally diagnosed in January and like Jessi, he will look people in the eye. I have to say it was reassuring to read your entry today about the doctor saying it's like she looks right through you. I've had so many people tell me Ryan couldn't possibly be autistic because he makes eye contact! And while he will look you in the eye, sometimes when someone makes eye contact with him first or comes into the room where he is, he will start banging his head and completely flip out.

Ryan also has other issues - developmental delays, epilepsy and very mild cerebral palsy. I've enjoyed reading your journal; Jessi is a very cute little girl and I wish you the best with her!

Hang in there and it's really true that you have to listen to your mother's instinct! That has saved me a lot of time & energy with Ryan. I'll keep checking on you all and thinking of you.

I pray they can provide you some answers and will be able to come back soon. But like you said - Jessi will need to have a seizer first. I cannot imagine what your going through. But you are strong and have such a positive out look - and that's what keeps a person going. Plus you have the sweetest little girl :-). Hope to see you and Jessi soon. Love always, Tina

hi, i am so sorry you have been going through this! this is so not fair.

as a teacher of autistic children and fiance to a locksmith may i suggest getting a keyed deadbolt installed on all doors. you will need to use a key on both sides to unlock it. you can either keep teh key inside nearby or you can wear it around your neck or wrist.

Oh my god, I have such great grandkids. What adorable pictures. I'm really glad that the trips went well. You know the signs for when Jessi is starting to get overloaded, so that helps you get her out of situations before she blows a lot of the time. I also want to say hi to Mary, Kylie and Zoey. I don't know if you remember me but I met you all at the hospital and saw some of you at the walk. I just want you to know that Sarah keeps me up on your situations and you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know what you are going through and I hope that you all get the miracle that we have gotten and soon. You have incredible strength and I admire you all greatly. If you want to correspond I would be glad to. My email address is at the end of this message. Stay strong and I'll be praying for all of you. Sarah, you and Jeremy have a great anniversary. I can't wait to play grandma for the whole weekend!!!! Have fun with the move - I hope it all goes smoothly. Like Crystal I believe and understand that Jessi's Autism is real and that we all need to be educated on it and really understand it so that we can help Jessi instead of making things harder for her. There is going to be a workshop in Eau Claire in the Fall that I think would be very beneficial for people who are willing to take the time to learn about how to help Jessi. I will get you the information so that you can hand it out to anyone who is interested. I hope that everyone who cares about Jessi and the whole family will take the opportunity to learn about this disorder and how to help. I know that it would be really nice if you could get help instead of denial about Jessi's condition. She is such a precious gift!!! I can't imagine not having her in my life. I just hope that she doesn't get pushed away because of fear of her disorder. She has so much to give all of us if we just take the time to appreciate her for who she is. I'll get off my soapbox now. I'll see you Saturday morning.

Love you all.

Sarah, After reading your entry today I just wanted to write and say how much I admire your strength and determination as you fight for not only Jessi but your family. These struggles with our children are such an up and down process, just when you think you are making headway or understand something it seems something else comes about. I don't understand your day to day completely but have a lot of respect for you and your family. You give others of us hope to keep going. Thank you. Please know that you are in my prayers.

I just wanted to say that I understand. I know you know that. Two years old and three years old were so very hard for us with Joseph's autism, not only because he seemed so lost to us, but also because people spent more time trying to tell us everything was all right than they spent trying to understand.
I understand.

Sarah- I was finally able to get on the website tonight. I must have been typing in the wrong address. I read through your journals and realized I am reliving your nightmare w/ my daughter. TS sucks. There is really not a better way to explain it. We are starting our third med tomorrow and we have been discussing the surgery more. It seems to be in our future. Jessi is a beautiful kiddo and we would love to meet her. I actually work at United, on the 4th floor. Depending on when surgery is, we would love to come visit you or I could pop in on my break. We will be at Children's on thursday to see the cardiologist and possibly tomorrow for labs and a chest x-ray, ( I also work tomorrow). I am praying so hard for the surgery to help Jess. Let me know if you would like to get together or if there is anything I can bring you guys. -Maria Gibbons

Jessi, Sarah, and Jeremy,
I read your article in the Chippewa Herald. This article has hit fairly close to home. I have a nephew, now 6 years old, who was diagnosed with Epilepy at age 3. Unable to get the seizures under control with 5 different medications, he was scheduled for surgery. While he was waiting, my sister looked in to applied kinesiology and cranial massage therapy. Matthew is off all medications for about a year now. Seizures are rare. No surgery was done. His learning delays are minimal at this point. This was in no way to be a cure, only a possiblity of help, but what a help. I would encourage you to take the information I have to offer. The decisions you make are your own. If you want more information please email me. God bless you all and my prayers are with you.

Sarah,Jeremy,Grace, and Jessi,
The article in the Leader/Telegram was very informative and well written. I'm glad you're trying to educate the public about T.S. So few people have even heard of it.
I read your entire journal history today, for the first time. I feel your anxiety and pain of what Jessi and all of you are dealing with. The hardest part is waiting, waiting, waiting. From our own experience with Joey, wanting treatment to happen right now, and when it actually happens is a long, torturous, impatient time. I'm happy to see that you finally have a surgery date. Jessi will be in good hands, and I know Laurie will be 150% there for you---as she has always been. You are lucky to have a great mom who is always there for you.
Take care and know that we are praying for Jessi.

Dear Sarah, Jeremy, Graci and Jessi

I'm so glad that insurance FINALLY approved the surgury for Jessi. I'm constantly amazed by your bravery, strength, and positive attitude through everything - the fear, the waiting, the not knowing what will happen -- through this whole time you've never given up. I know that having to watch a child suffer from the horrific challenges that Jessi has faced and now faces, must be incredibly difficult and painful for you both. Yet you've both stood strong, and faced the challenges head on, and fought for Jessi every step of the way, never giving up. Sarah and Jeremy -- you're amazing parents, and you have an amazing family. And just like you, Jessi is a fighter. She's been through so much, and yet, little miracles happen every day, like saying "mama". She has your strength. I know you'll make it through this. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers all through the surgury. Praying that everything goes well, and a speedy recovery!

Hugs,
Nick and Nora

Hello again from Mary Hable's Grammy Judy! Jim told me last night that Jessi is back in the hospital so I had to check her website and catch up on her history. My heart goes out to all of you with prayers and warm thoughts. Your concern and news of little Arianna from PA. (?) just tore at my heart as well. I read the article in the Leader Telegram and wanted to write and tell you that my heart goes out to your family. My sister was diagnosed with TB when she was about 1-1/2 years old and my mother was pregnant with me. The doctors told my parents that Stacy would be lucky if she lived to see the age of 10, and that the baby my mother was carrying probably had TB as well. 36 years later, Stacy is still going strong and I do not have TB, nor do my children have it.
Stacy is severely retarded and requires complete care such as diapering, feeding, etc. She has far out-lived the doctor's prognosis because of the intense love our family has given to her, and especially my parents. Stacy still lives at home with my parents, and although there have been many hardships through the years, Stacy has made our family very loving and very close.
Please keep the faith and pray to God a lot to give your family the strength to endure all of the hardships. I'm sure you will go through life having your heart broke many, many times as you watch your precious Jessi have seizures and endure the pain. But there will be great times, too, and Jessi will bring you so much joy. Your family is "different" than a lot, and your daughter, Grace, will more than likely be a more loving and compassionate sister and person because of Jessi. I know that my other sister and I sure are.
I will think of your family and pray for you. Best of luck to Jessi and I certainly hope something can be done to curb the seizures. Stacy used to have several a day, too, and for several years it has decreased dramatically to only a few a week, if even that.

God bless your family-

Andreo Family! Today I proceeded to read your article--knowing every step of the way what you are all going through. You see, my 21 year old daughter has tuberous sclerosis. Without going into too much detail and taking up all the guestbook space, let me tell you a bit about her...she was diagnosed at 2 weeks with TS. She was born with 2 tumors in her heart, tubers on her brain, retina and kidneys, seizures, cognitive disabilities, some autistic tendencies...much of the same involvement that Jessi has. She has been through open heart surgery to remove the tumors when she was 6 weeks; hospitalization for seizures many times; 5 days of epilepsy testing, CT and MRI scans at United Hospital with Dr. Penovich...you name it, she's had it! For the most part, things are under control. I am offering my help, support and experience and knowledge to you. I am, as well, a Parent Volunteer for the TS Alliance Network. I don't have all the answers but I can tell you what worked for us and perhaps guide you in the right directions as Jessi becomes older with county funding and school programs available to her and all of you. But for right now, do the best you can and go with your gut on things and reach out to others who offer their help. That's what got us through! Thinking down the road for Jessi regarding her indpendency and helping her to achieve that is the greatest thing you can do for her! I extend an open invitation for you to contact me if you would like...to e-mail, to talk, to get together and for you to meet April. It always helped me to talk with other parents and meet other children with TS as she grew...I learned so much from them. Our well wishes are with all of you! You certainly are in great hands with the doctors at the MN Epilepsy Group...I owe them for getting my daughter's quality of life back! I wish the same for you. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you!! You're in our thoughts!!
