Hey guys - sounds like you have been busy. Funny stuff G- you have to write that one down for when he is older. Isn't Cherrie great! Joseph is going next week. Like you said, it is strange because you are just laying there but....Thanks for the plug for Jose - unfortunatly you are right and Histiocytosis is treated with chemo and yes he does have an appointment May 8th for MRI and to see his onc doc. A bonus for him is he is also meeting with Connie and Fish from Z104 in Madison to talk to them live on the radio for their fundraiser for the hospital so he is looking forward to that. Might as well get some fun out of a completely boring day for him. Take care - hope you are enjoying this awesome weather...well except for the clouds today!

Hey G! Was that your handsome picture I saw in the newspaper last week? Looked like you were having fun. Isn't it nice we haven't had any snow lately? We have been outside trying to soak up some warm weather. Pretty muddy though. Hope you are having a good week.

Hi Melisa & Garrett,
My name is Liz, my daughter Lisa {@the age of 39 had Medulloblastoma removed}12/14/06 as with your hansome little man, nothing has been normal. Because of staph MRSA,01/05/07 back to Emory surgery to clean and drain her treatments were delayed 6 weeks, it was supposed to be 6 week of radition and chemo, but MRSA 03/07 again dropped last 2 or three treatments of chemo, also blood clots in both legs all counts bottomed out. All cathers and her
port rejected, also had clots around port. She has to be stuck for every thing. After the March MRSA/9 days in hospitle rest time.. chemo again in May and June, July big bang, back in hospitle for 37 days, chemical induced mingitis, all counts bottomed out. Docs and we thought we would lose her, but she made it. Rested for about 4 months finally doing treatments. Lisa, is a single mother of 3 girls, and she is our only child. She may be an adult woman, and I know chemo and especially radition is worse on children than adults. I can't think what it has been for you and your little man. Lots of prayer time for you and Garrett, maybe research will one day find a better way to treat this tumor, in my research it seems there are only between 300 to 400 new cases seen of this tumor per year in the USA. I know Lisa's surgon was dum-fonded when he found that Lisa had a Medulomablastoma instead of an Astrocytoma Tumor. Also for some reason my husband James, Lisa's dad had always ridden in the GoldWing Road Riders, Ride For Kids Brain Tumor Association's ride held the first Sunday in June in Atlanta, each year.

I will think of you and Garrett in my prayers ofton.

Ok Melissa. You know what happened to us? Right? THEY saw something in REginas brain... BUT did not tell us, because they thought it was nothing. 3 months later that nothing had multiplied 38 something times. And dr Gajjar told me, that they had no way knowing that it was cancerous..BUT since I was told Reginas MRI was clean, I did not take any action towards that something they saw.
NOW, I really hope that something in G. brain goes away, but I would not sit there and just wait. IF it is cancerous , you should be careful with hyberbarics ( spelling). Hyberbarics treatment does supply brain with oxygen, but it also helps new blood vessels to grow, and cancer LOVES that, so it can multiply faster , deeper, etc. Anyway, if it was me, I would get another MRI in February. And I would not settle with NO.

AWESOME NEWS!!! We are so happy for you. Now watch out school here he comes. Good to hear the year is starting off on a good note. My kids were ready to go back -sick of looking at me I think. I am sad for you that your doc is leaving. I dread the day that comes for us. They become part of your family and know so much about your child that you hate to turn over the care, and start new, with someone just as equally qualified. Probably sounds silly to most but I fully understand. So happy for you all, you made my day with your great news!

JEEPERS!!!! You didn't say a word about any of this Saturday when I saw you! First how scary with the speech and head thing. Glad he snapped out of it. I am sure you know his every little move so anything out of the ordinary is so scary. Second - congrats on the car! How fantastic for both of you. Enjoy the rest of the summer it is going way to fast. I bet G is getting excited for school to start anyway. Sometimes I think they miss the routine. Stay cool. Love - Angie

YEAH!!! GO Garret!!!.
M. I do not want to scare you but .. In January, when we had Reginas last ST JUde scan done. Dr Gajjar also saw white matter on her brain lot of white matter infact... and now 6 months later we are here- Her white matter area is all covered with tumors and tumors were lying along that white matter area. So yeah, keep really close eye on Garret. :) On tuesday we are going to CHILDRENS HOSPITAL OF LOS ANGELES. WE just can not give up yet. WE have 2 options- eater to nothing and let cancer take away, or try chemo and see if those 40 something tumors respond to chemo. If they do great, but if not, we have to return home. This time we decided not to go to St Jude. We want to be close to friends and if happens that she passes away during chemo, then we have support system and friends who can help us with gabriel and planning. :( Right now we are scared out of our minds. We have no idea what lyes ahead ...

I am jumping up and down for joy! What wonderful news. As for growth hormone, Joseph just started May 15th. So far so good but time will tell. As with you guys, we have heard some pretty bad stories. I will say however that I have heard good stories too. Joseph has grown in this last month more than he has grown in years so he is very excited. Like you said, do what ya gotta do and pray for the best. Have a great summer!

So glad to hear that the MRI results were good! I kept checking your page and when you hadn't updated I was getting a little nervous. I'm sorry to hear that G is deaf, but I'm so glad to know that it's not a tumor issue that you are dealing with. Anything other than tumor seems like small stuff, huh?? We think of you often.

G'day GARRETT, what a true fighter you are. You mum I think came to visit me, my name is Jay (Neuroblastoma) from Australia, I love to visit all sick kids and give them some hope. I send Strength-courage-determination-hope and inspiration (but I think you have all of it already) but a little more dosn't hurt. Remember always BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS and never give up and fight the fight and always have a SMILE ON THE DILE and the cancer monster stays away. My wish for you is that your trip to get your scans will be the last trip and you stay cancer free. A BIG KOALA HUG TO YOU (JAY)
