Rodney’s Story

Rodney had emergency surgery on December 7, 2013 for a complete gastric obstruction. Several days later, we were notified the tissue was cancerous. He was hospitalized for 31 days due to complications from surgery. Rodney was diagnosed with rare adenocarcinoma arising from heterotopic pancreas, Stage IIIB (pancreatic cancer). He has suffered several setbacks including a large pulmonary embolism, recurrent abdominal abscesses, pancreatitis, and gallbladder issues. He's had over a dozen hospital admissions, some for weeks at a time, including 4 ambulance transfers and 15 ER visits. Rodney has not been able to complete his chemo regimen due to these complications. Over 90 days in the hospital, not including all of his regular doctor appointments and clinic visits..

Ways to help: PRAY without ceasing! This is the most precious gift you can give us. A nice home-cooked meal---see meal calendar at http://www.takethemameal.com/meals.php?t=EGYZ8197&v=f95ec3de39 , or restaurant giftcards/Walmart/HEB gift cards for gas, food, and prescription needs. The hospital and clinic bills are continuing to multiply. To compound this, Rodney is out of work, and now on disability. We have set up an online donation fund here: http://www.gofundme.com/5sjs1w Cards for Rodney can be mailed to our home @ 701 E Moonlight Drive, Robinson, Tx 76706. Thank you for your thoughts & prayers, and for loving on us when we need it most.

Happy 50th birthday to my husband who is celebrating in heaven today! If Rodney was here, he would probably be working on the girls' rooms we are remodeling, which we are trying to finish up. Or he would even be crazy enough to be outside working. Nothing would stop him, lol.
I can't imagine the celebration up there today. Wish we could all be together. It seems like an eternity without him somedays, and sometimes it seems like just yesterday. But I know we will have our time together again. Until then, we go on, just as he would want us to.
We're finding our new normal I suppose. Kris graduated with his master's in library science and is hoping to move to WA and plant some new roots soon. Clayton is finishing up his degree in cyber security/forensic science (probably have that wrong), and hopefully he and Alliyah will have some news for us as she graduates nursing school this year as well :D. Emma will be finishing her junior year this spring, dating an awesome young man, attending prom, and looking towards college. And Erynn is in 7th grade, becoming a teenager and all that goes with it. Yikes.
Time doesn't slow down! I've been doing a bit of work from home, and plan to look more seriously after I get this job done, and the house back in order. One thing at a time.
We are all stronger and cherish each day because of what we went through as a family. So make each moment count, and make memories that last a lifetime!
