Angela,
It has been a long time since I have been able to check on everyone we had met along the way. I am so happy to hear Henry is doing well. I prayed and will continue to pray for him and your family. Tell your heart and your mind to be happy and thankful for the outcome and the future ya'll have to look forward to! Just keep the ones that didn't and remind henry that there are Angels looking after him everday.

Henry,
Buddy, I saw your Mom's update!! Great news. Hope you're doing well in 2011!! Congrats on the three year mark, almost 4 year mark now, no meds and a healthy boy!! You look fantabulous!

I miss ya and am so happy you're doing well. Every time I see Dog the Bounty Hunter on TV, I think of you yelling, "Get em Dawg". Cracks me up everytime!!

We're most likely relocating to the Roanoke area this year so maybe I'll pop on down to Radford!! Congrats again.

My dearest Henry,
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw your picture. Gone is the little boy I used to take care of. In his place was a handsome young man!
Can't believe it has been 3 years! I'm so glad your doing well and especially happy you don't have to take any more meds!
Sounds like you're doing well in school, not surprised! Always had you pegged for a politician someday! The way you could talk me into anything!!
I have been living in Las Vegas for the past year now. I now take care of "big people" with cancer. After you, no one could compete!
I love and miss you, and think of you and your family often.
Hope to hear from you soon!!

Angela, Henry and family: I got chills reading the update. The test results show that sometimes we really do have to just BELIEVE that everything will work out. I'm so proud of how you have handled the journey, the strength you all have shown, and the caring attitude you maintain for those who were part of the journey.

Angela, I love and miss you and think of you often. And don't think that I have forgotten that you have a very important birthday coming up!

Love you always,

Happy to see the update and to read that everything is well with your family. Love the hunting pictures! You can tell Henry that Eric has had a successful hunting season as well with an 8 point buck and a doe this firearm deer season. Maddie was very excited about this because she loves "deer meat"! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, a holiday that has taken on a new meaning for both of our families. Take care and if you're spending any extra time here in May let us know.

Henry, I am using this space to place an AD...come one and all to Angela and Patrick's home on Feb. 1, 1-4PM to the benefit for American Red Cross. Anne Vaughan, a Floyd County artist, has graciously agreed to be there to show (and sell) her jewelry and please note that the pearl set shown is especially designed for Red Cross and our fundraising raffle! Henry will draw for the winner at the event.

ALSO - if you have missed the recent Marrow testings - several RU organizations are holding a testing at the Bonnie (RU Student Union) Feb. 9-12, 1-4PM. It is just a quick cheek swab after filling out your mini-health history to become a member of the National Marrow Donor Program Registry - these tests are being offered through a grant and are free this time!!!

Hi Henry! I sat beside you on the plane from Charlotte to San Antonio. I was so excited when my friend at Hendrick Motorsports sent me your website. I was thrilled to hear you got your first buck!! He is a beauty!! Are you going to get him mounted? You are such a precious young man. I really enjoyed getting to know you on our flight. I also enjoyed meeting Poppy. From the stories you both shared with me I can tell how much you love each other. I am so happy to hear about your check up! You take good care of yourself, Baxter and your younger brothers. You're an amazing role model for them and for many others like me!! I'll keep checking back on your website to see how you are doing. If you are ever in Charlotte again to visit Courtney maybe we can meet again. Have a wonderful Christmas and God bless you and your family!!

Hello, Henry. You don't know me, but I sat at the table behind yours at the Red Cross Apheresis Recognition Dinner at the Roanoke Civic Center on Tuesday night, Nov. the 25th. I'm sure you hear all the time what a remarkable young man you are and for good reason--it's true. But I saw something else in you Tuesday night; it surrounded you like a warm light. The light, however, did not shine on you. It shone from you. This light speaks of many wonderful gifts that you have within you (not to mention all the incredible gifts around you). For now, Henry, play and learn and exercise your kid-dom. Meanwhile, maturing within you will be the many gifts you will share with a very needy world. Happy Thanksgiving!

Angela and Patrick.........you continue to amaze and inspire me along w/ so many other people. I haven't commented in a really long time, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been reading your page. All the exciting and emotional news..........it's all so wonderful and truly a moving story! Y'all should really think about writing a book about your experience......you both have a real gift of translating your emotions and you do it so eloquently. I'm overjoyed for your family and the pics are all so great... WHAT A STORY!! WHAT AN INSPIRATION!! WHAT A REMARKABLE AND LOVING FAMILY!!!
Thank you for lifting my spirits today......somehow I knew I should go to Henry's page and re-group. We just found out that Katie's seizure meds have to be changed. It will be a process, as they have to ween her off the current meds, then gradually begin her on the new stuff. One of the possible side effects of the new meds is break down of the bone marrow.......Of course, upon hearing this, I immediately thought of all of you. Thanks again and it's truly and sincerely a heartwarming story and one that speaks to us all on so many levels........
Much love and prayers to you all always

Hi! You might not remember me, but I was one of the adults who brought our youth group down to Gulf Shores and worked at the campground where you were staying. Henry and his 2 brothers came to the Bible Club we had. I just got finished reading about Henry's miracle. God is so good! He not only guided you in making the right decisions for your precious child, but also saved your little one. Tell Henry he was in our Power Point Presentation we had at our church when we returned and I shared with our church about how God keeps doing miracles and saving lives! It was so nice to meet you and hear your story!

This will, I hope, be the last entry I make. The miracle of Henry's cure has left me even stronger in my belief in the power of prayer and the goodness and mercy of God. I hope that your entire family will be able now to enjoy Henry's health, each other, extended family and friends. I hope the normalcy of life is now yours and that you can move on with a greater peace in your heart and a lighter spring in your step. You know I have always been a BELIEVER, and I will always give thanks for the gift you were given.

A & P., As one who traveled some of that very long road with you, I concur totally with your assessment of the situation at Duke; it is my fond hope the physician who has not attempted to follow Henry will somehow be able to read your assessment;it would certainly be of some help to him as a professional, not to mention as a human being. And, in the grand scheme of things its best you went to MI., where the care of the child, and loved ones, seem to be a major priority. It took a while but in my heart I know God knew best; and he gave Henry mighty strong parents. AND now to get on with your lives!!!!!!! All our very best, and to Russ and his family you're SUPER. I just wanted you to know that we are still keeping tabs on you here at the U of M on 7 Mott. I watched your video the other night @ work and shared it with everyone there as well. Your story is one that inspires me and many others here as well. When we get down at times I sometimes say "Remember Henry!!!!". A beautiful lesson that we can ALL make a huge difference in someone's life...just by getting our marrow tested/typed. My family & I will be at the park and plan to get swabbed myself. My family has also experienced the unselfishness of a donor who gave life to another.

Thanks for the phone call yesterday Angela. Your calls are always a welcome distraction from my work :) I must tell you that I laughed out loud (confirming for everyone at work that I am indeed loony) when I saw the picture of Henry and Dr. Funny. Those two make a very comedic pair! We wish you all the best for your meeting with the donor. Try not to worry too much about what to say. I don't think it really matters, once he meets Henry in person he'll understand how grateful you all are. Have a great time meeting "Russ" and we are so looking forward to seeing all of you and meeting all of your friends and family in a couple of weeks.

What great gifts you added to help those in need of platelet and blood transfusions with Henry Donor Days! Way to give back:)
I am sure that the platelets from Tuesday have already been used by a patient in the New River Valley. For those who do not know - platelets only have a few days of shelf life and then they are no longer viable to infuse, so it is a very precious gift to give along with whole blood or red cell donations. Way to go Moore's!!!!! Thanks back at 'cha!

Great! Good to hear the marrow is happy!
And Angela, thank you for continuing to update the site. I know that more time passes between each update now, as it should, but so many people continue to care... And you have a gift for presenting the information, especially about the emotions involved in the whole process in such a matter-of-fact but very tender way. I'm sure you are continuing to touch the lives of so many by sharing your story in such a personal way. God picked you.

I love all of the updates. I'm sorry I havent written in awhile but I check this site like I check my email :) I'm so excited about Henry's trip to meet Kobe. I'm sure he was so pumped! I found a picture of me and Henry the other day in his music class, maybe? He had on a little Mickey Mouse suit! He was so sweet. Those were the days... when I would play with Henry all day and we would watch "Thomas" and eat pop corn, lots of pop corn! It sucks being a grown up :) Glad to hear all is well. Andy and I are getting married soon, April 12th, so we have been SO busy. We will try to make it to the party. I would really love to be there.

Hello Henry, my son and daughter loved the skiing pictures. They just went skiing for the first time and wanted to comment on your perfect form. Just wanted to let you know, I initially registered with the Bone Marrow registry during your drive at Radford Carilion NRV Med. Ctr. Shortly after you were born. I was a detective with the Radford City Police Department at the time and knew you dad. I just recently updated my contact information with the registry to make sure I can be contacted if I have the pleasure of being a match (with you or anyone else). Keep fighting!

Just wanted you to know that the service on Saturday was beautiful. Patrick did a wonderful job, and you must be so proud of Henry speaking from his heart like he did. That was so sweet. The one thing I came away with was "manners are free"....I think I'll be using that a lot!! It also explains why the Moore/Dalton families are as nice as they are. It was great to see Henry acting like a typical seven-year-old little boy cutting up at the reception. I hope the new year brings you continued good health and much happiness.

I have lost your e-mail so I will use your guest book to send you a quick message. You are in my prayers as I was told of Patrick's mother entering eternity this week. I always loved stopping by and seeing her when I could. She had the most wonderful eyes and always had a big smile...which grew even bigger as I spoke of her children and bigger still when I spoke of the grandchildren. God is merciful and she is in paradise with him and all the saints this very day. I thank God for allowing me to know her. I pray that he will enfold you with his Grace this day as you have a mass for her. I will say prayers for you in Mount Vernon. Peace my friends!

I am so glad to hear Henry is doing better and is back home. Theresa Brooks told me Tuesday evening that Henry was back in the hospital for IV fluids when she picked up Jeff from High School Religeous Ed. When she told me the news I went home and said a prayer for all of you. It is so good to hear that it was a virus and that he is feeling better already. May you all have a wonderful and Blessed Christmas!

Aww, Henry. He is such a cutie. We didnt' get to hang out much in Mott7, but I still have the card he made for me for my new stem cell "birthday". What a bold little fighter. I hope the tummy sickness and elevated temp go away soon and you have a wonderful but medically uneventful Christmas.

I'll be having my new 2nd Birthday, looks like on the 26th. Back on good ol' Mott7. I think they should provide Big Wheel bikes for 23year olds :)

Take Care

This morning during our prayer time I was urged by the Holy Spirit to pray for Henry. I thought it so strange since he has been doing so well. Know that our prayers are with you, your family and Henry. There is a song "Someone is praying for you" and you have many praying for Henry and your whole family. Rest in the arms of a loving Father and Believe. He is your strength as you help carry Henry, as you struggle with all that needs to be done, when you feel helpless. As I get older I realize that there are some things I just can't do anymore and at a time like that you just need to step aside and let others help. There will come a time that you will be able to help others in need.

This is a special year for your family as you celebrate the birth of the Christ Child. Relax and enjoy the celebration.

We love you and will pray for the other young people in your update (along with their families.)

So sorry you've had to go through this... All of this. But think of the faith and strength you have found deep within throughout the past year. You and Patrick are models of what many of us should be striving to be. The celebration of this season takes that thought even one step further. Lean on Him when you're sad and you'll find simple joy. Lean on Him when you're afraid and you'll find courage. Lean on Him when you're exhausted and you'll find strength. Lean on Him when you're happy and you'll give thanks. Combine those things... and believe... that's Faith. And Faith will get you through the darkest of times.
Henry's a fighter, that's now a proven fact. Hope he feels better soon...

So glad to hear that school is going well and that Henry's "Back to School" enthusiasm hasn't worn off yet! It sounds like you are all enjoying some traditional Christmas fun together as a family. Perhaps Henry can practice some of the medical skills he witnessed in the hospital to nurse Patrick's arm back to health--look out Patrick! Good news about the return to work Angela, it sounds like the schedule you have worked out will give you a nice balance of work and time to spend with and care for the boys. We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

Wonderful, wonderful story! Henry will go far.... Believing in our Lord and loads of prayers will go a long way. Wonderful pictures. Henry and your other two boys are just handsome. After having three miscarriages and then having my son pass away due to a rare heart defect, tricuspid atresia, I almost stopped believing. Then God showed me if I prayed hard enough and believed with all my heart I'd have children one day. My son passed in January 1999, I now have a 6 1/2 year old daughter and a 4 1/2 year old son that are 100% healthy. We feel like we have been given the best gift on earth. No fortune or fame could ever make us feel the way we feel. Keep up the wonderful journal. Keep up the faith...

AWESOME NEWS! We are extremely glad to hear of all of these wonderful events in Henry's life! I hope he gets to come to South Alabama for a hunt, we have some big bucks here. My brother killed an 8 point last week and even after several kills and the fact that he is 22, he still was on Cloud 9! We are so glad Henry got to see some deer and make contact! You'll have to have Henry post a video or letter about his return to school, we would love to hear. Have a great week and Merry Christmas! Hi there; I'm so glad all of you got to enjoy the NASCAR events - as you know racing is close to our hearts - well, Jay and his family especially. What a wonderful announcement that Henry will be able to say I love you to his donor - Patrick- keep taking your blood pressure meds.; you might need it for that meeting - and I will gladly supply the tissues - I'm pretty sure there will be a need for them - tears of pure thankfulness, joy and love. Makes the tears flow already; its been a long journey- I think of Henry's donor every day, and the BMT team., and you two and Henry; not to mention the support of so many - always think of Poppy- its has been, and con'ts to be a journey blessed with love. Glad you guys had a fun time. Always BELIEVING

Angela - I think of you often. I opened my Bible to Ps 103 last night and it reminded me of our days at Mott. I am so thankful that Henry looks 1000 times better now (and that he is now only on that "whiff" of steriods!).

I absolutely LOVE the new picture of Henry--it makes me smile everytime I look at his website! Interesting that they have you walk all over the hospital before a pulmonary function test...I'm not sure I would pass that after a walk from the Cancer Center to Mott!! I hate those days when you bounce from one end of the hospital to another and back for various appointments. Glad to hear that things are going relatively well and excited to hear that Erin is paying a visit. She's going to be in trouble now that Henry is going to have her on his home turf!! Have a wonderful visit tell Erin we said hello and we look forward to more pictures of a happy, healthy Henry in the future.

I know it's hard not being together on your anniversary, but remember that the bond you are celebrating today was formed from the same, special love which created that miracle of a child to whom you are tending. Love the pictures! As I sit here in a hotel room in WBurg (attending a conference) I read the story about Eli. I had to stop to think about just how precious life is. A humbling way to start the day...and a reminder to be grateful. Thinking of you all and hoping that Henry's cough goes away - so you, Angela, can get a rest from cleaning and cooking :)

Hello Moore family, we are so happy and thankful for the wonderful news on how well Henry is doing. We think of you and continue to pray for each and everyone of you everyday. I can't help but think of a song Shane's group sings at church about "as the prayers go up, the blessings come down", how true this has been for you, Henry and your family. God is so good and through the blessings He has given you, we have all been touched and blessed! May God continue to bless you and keep you in His care. We can't wait to see those beautiful, brown locks! We love you and hope to see you soon. Take good care.

My hope is that no news is good news. Here's to hoping that life has been so great that you haven't had time to update.....But Hayley wanted me to tell Henry that she got to go on the U of M Football field today to watch her dad finish the Big House/Big Heart Run to benefit the new CS MOTT Hospital. She thought she was pretty cool and wanted to know where the football players were and why there was no football only runners. We needed you, Maddie and Hay to be there to squirt water on the runners to make them go faster. It was pretty cool. We just wanted to say hey and let you know we are thinking of you and wishing you were here.........(but not for hospital type reasons)

Thanks for the request on Henry's site for prayers for Maddie. Those Henry followers are one faithful crowd and we're thrilled to have them all jump on the Maddie bandwagon!! Thanks also for the message you left me Angela. While sedation and surgery have started to seem as commonplace as laundry and groceries to us it is still always nervewracking to send your little one off on a gurney with complete strangers. I'm glad to hear that Henry's visit went well and that he was able to bring a friend to attend the Michigan game. I'm glad that you got to see Russell Crowe (er...I mean the game) as well!! Hi:
Things seem to be going well at the Moore household; can't encourage people enough to be donors at blood drives; they're all over-- every town. From the biggest chicken in the world this is the truth - it does not hurt and you get cookies, a sandwich-- if you've haven't eaten breakfast, or missed lunch you get fed before and afterwards - how great is that; AND, what if no one donated and you needed blood or platelets; also, don't use the"I'm too old excuse"- doesn't work - You really feel good about yourself afterwards too. Thats the sermonette for the day- except---you knew this was coming -- Been out of country???-Check with the blood bank - you can donate - different rules for diff. countries visited. Glad you had time to sit down, Angela - I'm keeping up with you guys; Go, Henry, and keep Dad's nose to the grindstone. Loved the pictures.

I just wanted to let you know we are still praying for you. Every night when going to bed Stephen Jr (3 years old)says "Say Henry's Prayer". It was that Henry would get well and go home to his mom, dad, and brothers. Now we pray that he will continue to be well and able to stay at home. Then Stephen wants to know what Henry's brothers names are. I tell him Sam and Harper. He repeats me and laughs. :)Love, Shawna and Stephen Jr

Thanks for the update. We is South Alabama are glad to hear that everything is going well at the Moore home. Our Tanner started school this year and he cried everyday for the first week because it "missed mommy and daddy" it can break your heart but he is loving it now! It makes things so much better when you know they are in good hands. Angela, you will be glad to hear that your old alma mater BCHS just won another game last night. They are 3-0 this year and are doing well! Much improvement has taken place under the new coach this year. If you come down south any during the season, Bay Minette would all love to have you all at a game. Thanks again for the update. By the way Henry, don't work too hard.

I am so excited to hear that Henry is doing well! I have thought about him and prayed for him since I first heard he needed a bone marrow transplant. I myself had a bone marrow transplant for Chronic Mylogeneous Leukemia on 7/27/00. I just celebrated my 7th anniversary! My donor is a wonderful gentleman from Sweden! I will continue to pray for Henry's recovery. I saw a little bit of the story when Jean Jadhon interviewed Henry. He seems like a wonderful child. Take Care and God Bless You, Henry.

Angela, of course there are going to be some adjustments, but you've shown your strenth and will to all of us and to your own family plenty of times. That too will get you through the dealing of the adjustments that lie ahead. And, Girl, all of us have to redirect and refocus our thoughts on a "normal" day!!! Just keep repeating those "truths" you talk about. I have no doubt that things will settle down soon and the Moore family will be back to "normal" very very soon.
I'm so happy for all of you and excited to hear about the coming weeks!!
