Hi Tate . . . I don't really know you but know who you are. I worked with your dad several years ago at the hospital, and my son, Kellen Floyd, is in 3rd grade at Aikin. And people always say THE nicest things about your family. I've been praying for you this week, and then this morning I was reading your mom's posts about your surgery. When I scrolled down to where there were pictures, there was our nephew, Cody Bachman! His mom is my husband's sister! He's really a cool kid. Well, he's not a kid anymore . . . he had a birthday this week and I guess he turned 25! I'm glad you got to meet him, and I'm glad you seem to be doing so well. You must be an awesome kid, so keep up the awesomeness! I'll keep praying for you!

We've been praying for you guys! Tate, you are becoming known here in Nac!! I checked in on you while I was at Mandi's haircut so everyone wanted to know about you after hearing my phone call. Mandi, of course, told the story of how you fell asleep in her arms when you were a little baby ... and she was about 8. Now you are creeping up on the 8-years-old mark. Amazing! Hang in there, Tate. We wanna see more videos of you playing b-ball. We are soccer fans here so add some of those too, OK??? Love from Nac!!

Cheri, I hope this finds you more rested. It's good to read that Tate is resting so well. You guys have been in my thoughts and prayers yesterday and last night and will remain there. I understnad how comforting it is to have the same nurses caring for sweet Tate each time you return to the hospital. We love our nurse Dee and Julie at Childrens on the nuero floor. Even when we take Katelyn in for a Dr.'s visit, we have to go see them and give them lots of love. I will continue to pray for Tate to be pain free and for lots of rest for you and Duane. We love you guys.

Tate, Wesley is thinking about you often. He told me at his game last night that I needed to check you page before he went to bat because he couldn't stop thinking about you. He told me he needed to know you were okay so he could concentrate on the ball and hit it. You get better soon and know that we are all thinking about you and sending lots of prayers up to God for you. You make sure Curious George stays out of trouble now. We love you little man. Stay strong.

Sending hugs your way, sweet lil' Tater Tot. Hoping you will soon be well and back home. When you get back, I want you to come over to my house so you can feed our ducks--we have a momma duck sitting on her nest full of eggs--don't know when they will hatch, but you need to come see them. She is a good momma, very attentive to her nest and her eggs. She has lined it with soft feathers, so her babies have a wonderful place to be til they hatch! Kinda like your Momma, very attentive to her little ones!
Duane and Cheri, Hang in there and know you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Thanking the Lord the surgery went well and hoping you are soon heading home. God bless and keep you. Love from your cousins in Paris.

Praying for you all. Tonight Bailey wanted to know when Tate's birtday is. It really threw me. I asked why she wanted to know. She said she had been praying and thought of it. Hi, thanks for emailing me. I had checked out your page a few days ago and read about Tate. Im glad that he is doing good. Kaydence had all three of her surgeries and she did really well with them. Her Fontan was on April 30, 2008, then she had some dental work done in Sept of 08, she was intibated thru her nose for the dental work, a few days after dental work she got cellulituce in her eye, and there was an infection. Then she went into heart failure. We are keeping our heads up and she is a very strong little girl, she will do great when she gets a new heart. Stephanie is her FAVORITE FAVORITE nurse also!! I am so thankful for everyone over at CMC Dallas, I dont know what Id do without them. You had mentioned Elijah, is he a outpatient or inpatient? Thankfully as of right now Kaydence is an outpatient, and we are having to stay here in Dallas locally. Thank you for your email, and we will continue to keep Tate in our thoughts and hope that he stays healthy.

I use this passage quite often because of it's profound impact. Some of the first words of Scripture ever written assure us of our bodily resurrection in Christ.
Am here praying right now.
Job 19:25-27 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

Psalms 121:1-8 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

1/2 OF AN ANGELS HEART
It's a beautiful day up in heaven. Jesus is rounding up his tiniest angels, to go live on earth, and be born. One of the sweetest angels says to Jesus "I don't want to leave, I like it here, and I will miss you". He reassures the scared little angel that everything will be okay, and that she is just going for a visit. She is still not swayed on this idea. So Jesus kneels down, and says, "How about if you leave half of your heart here with me and take the other half with you, will that be okay?" The angel smiles and says, "I guess that will work". But the little angel is still a little scared. She asks, "Will I be okay with only half of my heart?" Jesus replies, "Of course you will, I have other angels there that will help out, and you will be fine." Then Jesus gives the angel more details about his plan. He says "When you are born, your mommy will be scared, so you have to be strong, and when you feel weak just remember that I have the other half of your heart." "Enjoy your time with your family, play and laugh everyday." "And when its time to come back to heaven, I will make your heart whole again. Always remember that you are not broken, just torn between two loves." -Author Unknown

Your stories and events bring so much joy and delight to all those that have the pleasure of knowing you and your precious family. My sides hurt from laughing and those big brothers have a way of greatly influencing those younger ones, don't they. This is an ongoing conversation that takes place in our household too. Hi Cheri: Just to let you know, some of us at Trinity keep up and have been praying for you all. I know how scarry the waiting on reports can be I had a scar last year and I don't know why because I knew God was in control the whole time. We need your prayers; Brians dad George was diagnoised with lung cancer last month. He has now had two treatments and has good and bad days. It is really hard to watch the people you love in pain. Love you guys!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, Cheri, I Praise God for what He continues to in the life of your family. Tate and his energy level certainly is a miracle. We'll pray this will begin a wonderful and healthy decade for you. You have experienced more in your 30's than many people put together ever do. Yet you always put your hope in Him and that is such a witness and inspiration to all who know you. Would love to get together sometime. Make it a great 10th (40th) birthday.

Romans 8:15-18 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Please know that you are never far from my thoughts and prayers, though... I think of you all and am so glad all is going well. I am so glad the pacemaker placement went well, and I love the birthday pic of Duane and Parker - not to mention all the great pics of your wonderful family... What handsome guys - and girls!! Hi Tate! When my son has to take medicine that tastes yucky, his doctors told us to give him a Popsicle first to desensitize his taste buds and to give him chocolate afterwards because chocolate counteracts the bitterness of medicine well. You can do an experiment and see if it works with your medicine! Matthew thinks it works well and he doesn't gag with his medicines any more!!! (He also doesn't try to give the medicine to the cat, so the cat is happier as well!)

God bless you all for writing and encouraging the Lunsford family in Alabama!! I just don't know how you do all that you do, but I want you to know that the family of baby Katherine Lunsford appreciate so very much your positive words and comments. It means so much to my nephew, Landon and his wife, Amanda. They have been overwhelmed as I am sure you can imagine. Every minute is so important at this point, but she is in "a good spot" now and please continue praying for her well-being. Our family had never heard of CaringBridge and it has been the most wonderful blessing to all of us to read your comments and see the pictures of your beautiful family and know that your little boy is thriving. Since we are of Irish heritage, I will leave you with this blessing:

May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children's children.
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness from this day forward.

You would be so proud of your brothers and sister, they have been so good to one another, honestly not an angry word. Tell mommy and daddy they are really trying to do everything right, that's their way of trying to help you. Lilly writes herself a note at night to remind Luke and Parker to Pray for Tate. That's after she takes their medicine to them and makes sure they take it. Is she a little "mother" or what. Have a good day.
Love,

Lewis Family,

Many tears as I watch little Darth Tater preparing for surgery. Not because I am scared but because I wish I were there to give you all a big hug. We are lifting you all up right now and I know God is right there holding your hand. I love you all and if there is anything you need here in Paris please don't hesitate to call me.

Love you all & I'm praying continuously!

I found this verse for you all today:

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

Sweet Lewis family,

I'm so sad to learn of the urgency of this surgery. You guys had an amazing 2007. I hate that you are starting 2008 in the hospital, but I know that this will help little Tater's heart be the best that it can be for our little guy.

Prayers are being lifted up for all of you, including your sweet other children. This will be a hard few weeks for you, even if your surgery and stay are uneventful. Know that we are thinking of you.

Cheri, I have an 8th grader here who has a pacemaker. He doesn't have HLHS, but he's done great. You would never know that he's a heart kiddo--he'w wacky and crazy and NEVER slows down. His family came to see us in the hospital last year; they were seeing Dr. Wright at Children's, who services his pacemaker. I see Tate being the same way when he's older! They're an amazing family, and I know that they'd share any information with you, if you'd like.

Psalms 86:1-7 Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

As the new year begins everyone's thinking about time and counting it down. So I wanted to share THE section of Scripture dealing with time. Praying as one year ends and a new one begins. Whatever this new year holds, the Lord WILL be with you!
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Cheri, I know it's been a while since you've heard from me. Please know I do check in and keep up with Tate and your family. It's so good to hear that you are all doing well right now. We too are constantly on the run with Mike and Cameron's football games and Shelby's gymnastics, PIPS, and basketball practices. Mike's team is in the playoffs and will be playing for Area the Saturday after Thanksgiving down in Burleson. I loved your comments on having a messy house! I too, am often frustrated at not being able to keep up. Thanks for putting it into perspective for me. THANK YOU GOD FOR MY CHILDREN AND THE MESS THEY CREATE!!! Love, Debbie

I am so sorry to read about Lilly's accident. I can't imagine how much that had to have scared all of you. Like others and you guys I am so glad it was her baby teeth. I hope you are all doing well. I watched Parker's hurricane report and oh my gosh the imagination that boy has!!! I can't believe they are all growing up so fast. And Tate in Kindergarten is totally unbelievable. I also can't believe Luke is in High School. I remember when he was a baby in your arms Cheri at Ashlee's birthday party in Roswell at Peter Piper Pizza, it just seems like yesterday. Good decision Cheri. I would've done the same thing. You and I both know the medical world (although a God-send a times) is also a place were MUCH human error takes place. It takes a "village" of nurses, dr's, staff..and then the most important..the family member..to watch carefully all that is going on. I can't tell you the number of times something was wrong with Bryan's med's or care..I credit his longer life (hopefully better life than it could have been) to good dr's and even BETTER family members. Cheri,

I cannot take credit for this but I found this scripture on a website today.

2 Corinthians 1:3-11
Praise be to the GOD and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion, and the GOD of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from GOD. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation. If we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We are under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on GOD, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

Continuing to pray for Darth "Tater"!!

Hello Lewis family!

I've seen them do the pacer surgery a couple of different ways. I've seen them place them in the cath lab, and sometimes they do it in the OR. They usually put it in the abdomen of kiddos Tate's size. They usually keep them a couple of days, just to make sure it's working correctly and for you guys to get all the education you need! He would be able to go straight to the 8th floor, no ICU stay needed. I'm sure you'll be given SO much more information when you meet with the doctors and EP nurses! When is Tate's appointment?

Happy Anniversary to a beautiful couple. It seems impossible, we were all in Alva 18 years ago for your wedding. It was beautiful with family and friends from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico. It seems only yesterday, then I think , you have lived in Austin, added Luke and Parker to your family, Big Springs, Lilly began, and then finished in Paris, then Tate came along almost 5 years ago. God has been such an important part, center, of your lives. Your trials have been many and you have remained faithful, what a blessing the Lewis family is to all of us. Wishing you lots of continued love, peace, and happieness. Tate, God must have great plans for you, you are so young for so many extraordinary experiences. Hang in there grandson.
All our love,

I know I've told you this on numerous occasions, but thank you for being such an inspiration to our family. Your strength inspired me. I just ran across some pictures of him this week as a baby. What a sweet boy----now a man. Give Duane a hug for us. We are so thankful he is a survivor. Great news!!!!!!!!!!!!
Time...such a simple word, such a complicated topic. Sometimes it flies by so quickly you truly don't know where it went. Yet it can also seem to stand still. I looked it up in a concordance and it's used 573 times in the Bible. It's used in so many different says. One thing I've learned by stopping by so many pages is just how precious time is.
This is a very special verse about time:
Psalms 37:39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble.

Some thoughts from Scripture as we remember those who gave their lives for us this Memorial Day.
Romans 5:6-8 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Cheri,
Just read your guest entry on our page. Please do not feel guilty about God answering your prayers and not ours. God answered your prayers in order to draw people to Him during your trials - He brought our families together. He is doing the same with Mark's illness. God revealed to me early on that it wasn't His intentions to heal Mark but to reveal His glory. God continues to do many awesome things in our lives - as yours as you guys have an awesome testimony to share. God is in control and not us. God's will - not ours. I've found that accepting God's will and not trying to fight it makes things easier. God has been gracious and granted me peace. I know that we can get through this because He's right here beside us.
Enjoy your family you've been blessed with and don't feel guilty - you guys have walked down the paths He wanted you to go and you praised and glorified Him all the way! You continue to be an inspiration to me! God Bless You!

Tate loves it, but does MOM love it?! :o)
My heart is so heavy tonight for so many...just letting the words speak for themselves:
Psalms 139:1-6 O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether. Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

This verse shows the tremendous care the Lord takes on our behalf. We can't see the future. We don't know what's best for us. The Lord knows! The Lord is working! The Lord has known from all eternity what is going to happen in each of our lives, and He's working to answer prayers before we even know they're needed.

Hi Friends,
Wow Tate, Cade loved your baseball picture and yes. . .you are "big time" and Cheri & Duane aren't these precious milestones that we always wonder if we will achieve but somehow with God's help we do and they are such blessings. These are small things to some but enormous to us when we reach them. Children are so wonderful and we just returned from our Easter service at our church and Vic made the comment about being blessed with our children. Have a blessed Easter and Cheri, glad you are gonna do something for YOU soon. We'll be in prayer!!!!!!

According to a forward I received by email today, this verse is the exact middle of the Bible. It's a good verse and one which can take on a whole new meaning when dealing with drs. They don't know everything. The Lord knows ALL things, and any knowledge drs have come from Him. So always look to the source first!

Okay Mom, did you cry on your trip?! I cried watching your photo-montage. The "God of Wonders" from your site was playing, and I kept thinking how beautiful everything was...the snow, the family, your ever-so-miraculous husband, and yet I was sad that Tate-r wasn't there. You are so brave to take everyone and leave "little man" behind. I applaud you for continuing to live the wonderful life that God meant for your entire family. Your entire family, extended included, is beautiful! Lilly looked like she was having the time of her life.

Loved the T-ball pics and the story about running bases. Yeah, life's a little different, but it's cool to be alive, right?! I just can't believe how great Tate is doing. He really does look and act normal. Jacob can't even jump yet...we're getting there, though!

We read this verse at church last night and it's beyond mind boggling: God the Father "turning His back," as it were, on God the Son. Jesus went through that willingly, taking the full punishment for our sins. Since He loved you enough to do that for you, He's not going let you go through anything alone, but will be with you every step of the way.

Tate is a very special boy and we have known that from the beginning. God has showered many miracles on your family and what a testimony you can share with others through this adventure too. I can't wait to hear all about the details as they transpire. The blessings continue. Keep froggin'!!!

Hi Lewis family, Forgive me, it's been a very long time since I've checked in. Praise God for your family's health. Your family is such and inspiration to me. - a reminder of what a faithful God we serve. Our family is doing well. David is teaching Josh the drivers ed on-line. It is so hard to believe how old our big guys are. He is into theater and band. Caleb is learning the trombone and plays soccer. Please, pray for (and your readers) a friend at our church, Beth McCraw, also diagnosed with glioblastoma brain tumor just before Christmas. She is 36; they have 4 sweet girls, ages 3 - 9. Had surgery the following week which removed 90% and is currently doing radiation and chemo. She is a godly woman with a positive attitude.

Hey Cheri, It's great to hear that you all are healthy or "on the mend" now. So far we've managed to keep the flu bug, etc. at bay this year. We missed 2 days of school due to this lovely Texas ice too. Mom said the snow up in Alva sure was pretty when I talked to her yesterday. Wouldn't it be great to share the "real snow" that we grew up with more often with our kiddos? We have had the chance to experience it (6 inches plus) a couple of years when we've been up there for Christmas, so now Cameron and Shelby find themselves wishing for it every year. :) I pray for your family to continue having good health. This is the first half of Psalm 86. I know it's a bit long, but it's really special and I pray that it will give you comfort.
Ps 86:1-7: Bow down thine ear, O LORD, hear me: for I am poor and needy.

Mt.1:18-21: Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
