I am the mother of a TBI survivor that was hit by a tree as a passenger of a car as well. This story has given me the strength that I needed. You are both amazing. And dont you worry ask and you shall receive. Nothing with our Lord is impossible. I'm amazed, my son has learned how to walk, talk and eat again, but is at a second grade level. I know your pain.

I am so glad we have reconnected via facebook. You are a special person, and God will always give you the grace and the strength to "carry on". I just received an email from our youth minister telling us that you are visiting our High School group and speaking this coming Wednesday evening. My daughter is a freshman in that group. I am truly amazed by your story and wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your courage and desire to share your story. May 27 holds special meaning to my family as well, as that is the day (in 1999) that we buried my 20 year old nephew, Ryan, who was killed in Oklahoma City by a drunk driver. I look forward to hearing your story but I mostly wanted you to know that you are doing something that is so extremely important and there are people, like myself, who cannot thank you enough. My prayers are with you and your family. THANK YOU for using your life to make a difference in others.

I just went on to the Baylor website to do some research for one of the sites we bill and when I looked under Baylor Institute for Rehab it says "We treat brain injury patients like Sean Carter" and I said, "I know him (well, really his mom)". I check your webpage everyone once in a while to see how you are doing and I am always so happy to see how you have progressed! You are doing a great job!! I cannot belive how far you have come in the past 5 years. Good luck with continued success. And tell your mom I miss seeing her at the start up meetings!!

I was reading on Facebook, and it was told to read about Sean. It was also told that they arrived at Carver Alternative School in San Angelo, Texas to give a speech. It was an awesome speech, and encouragement, so I was told. So I read about Sean, and was touched by his motivation. I will seek into God, and thank him everyday for the day he has given us. Also, everyday is precious. I thank you for the encouragement you are doing for others. Keep the faith, and stay strong!

Hey Sean! It's Kendall and Shar from the camps at Red River, New Mexico and The Texas Pilot Association Camp in Texas. It has been a few years since we've seen each other! I was in the 7th grade and now am in the 10th grade. My mom was the one with the golden retriever therapy dog. She was cleaning out her therapy dog bag the other day when she found your card in her bag. She showed it to me and I was sooo surprised! The second I saw it I wanted to go to another camp. We miss you and really hope to see you again some day! Hope you are doing great! By your website it sounds like you're doin awesome!

Sean & Jenny, I met you guys at the Texas EMS conference in November of 2009. I have since then never forgotten your faces or your story! Im an EMT in a 911 service in the metroplex. I had a patient who has now suffered a TBI secondary to being hit by a drunk driver. As his mother struggles with lifes hardships and looks for answers I remebered you guys and have forwarded your info to her! I told her how empowering your story was and that no matter how tough the road may seem with the perserverance that you guys had, which i see the same in her, she and her son will overcome these obstacles! Sean, what you are doing is amazing and as a EMS provider if I could i stick you in my pocket and take you with me on so many scenes to where you have kids behind the wheel drunk or even adults who dont have a clue to the lives they may or already have destroyed! I hope you and your family are all doing well! I look forward to following your progress and hope to possibly see you in Austin at the EMS conference again! That is definately the place to be! Take Care and God Bless you and all that you continue to do to make a difference!

Jenny and Sean,
I am always inspired by your words. Jenny, I thank you for taking the time to write on Justin's guestbook. YOu are so right, the love and support our young men have truly is helping them. As we start our 3rd year post injury, I believe it's time for us to get involved in making a difference. In April we are attending the Sportsability event at one of the state parks here in Florida and I believe from there perhaps more GOOD things will come. There's so much need out there for survivors and I am praying now for God to show us the direction He wants us to travel. You are always in our prayers, Thank you for all you do!!

Sean,
I have a nephew named Wayne Leek. He is a former basketball coach and the current principal at West High School and West, Texas. He shared your information with me and I will start out by saying that I will add you, your mom and the work you do to my prayer list.
Our lives were changes completely this past July 6th when my very health and active 80 year old mother had a severe stroke. She can talk, feed herself and still has a good mind but she is paralyzed on her left side (she is right handed, thank goodness). Her vision was also effected but she isn't blind. My husband and I recently moved her to our home with us. She works hard to try and regain what she has lost but I don't know if she will ever be able to stand or walk on her own or with a walker. He attitude remains upbeat and postive.
I congratulate you on all your accomplishments and think that you are a very amazing young man to have such a tragic thing happen to you and turn it all into something good.
My thinking is that you also have an amazing mom and she did a great job in raising you.

I hope it's okay to ask a question here, I came across this site doing research for my nephew...
My nephew (22 years old) was in a work related auto accident a year ago April. He is currently in a rehab hospital in Tulsa, OK but needs to be moved as they say they cannot help him. We were trying to get him into Pate Rehab in Anna, but workers comp will not approve it, saying he cannot be helped. Pate is trying to get us there, but since my nephew needs to be moved now, they are suggesting we do as w/c suggests and find him an interim place where perhaps we could get a new dr. that would suggest Pate as treatment. Do you know of any facilities near Durant, OK or close to McKinney in Texas that is not a nursing home for elderly? We are at such a loss on finding a place for him...any help would be appreciated.
You can see his story thru Nov 08 at matthewcagle.blogspot.com
I have been so encouraged reading Sean's story, would love for Matthew to have a similar outcome. Please email me if you have any ideas at all. Thank you.

Thank you for comming to Winnsboro. Your son made a big impact on my son today at the assembley. My son (Shawn) could not stop talking about Sean. All he could think about was his step-brothe who is still ina coma after 9 months. He was just stnding on a porch in Beaumont Texas. Fell about 12 ft. on the back of his head. The Dr. say it was like a shot gun blast to the back of his head.He can open his eyes now. But still not really responsive to much more. His name is Clayton Smith. He lives now in Koontze Tx. with his grandparents. Buck and Christina Smith. His mother has a hard time dealing with this . My husband has been band from seeing him because of past problems with the Smith Family and was made to give up his rights to his son (Clayton) No he did not do anything illegal to him just that the family was very hard to deal with and was dragging him through court and he could not afford to keep trying. The Smith family told him he could give up his rights and they could get so much money from the state if he did that, But they said they would never stop him from seeing him. They did when was injured they were scared he was going to try to take him away so they pushed my husband out and there was nothing he could do. So we live with the thought of not knowing how he really is.Yes my step-son was on drugs at the time of accident. Thank you for reminding my son what can happen.

Jenny & Sean,
Just checking in to say hi. So glad you all are signing on a lot of presentation dates. Have a nice weekend, which is just around the corner : )

Brenda Reeves <brendar1230@gmail.com>
Sadler, TX USA - Thursday, April 23, 2009 10:00 PM CDT
Jenny & Sean,

It was truly a pleasure to meet both of you today at Burleson High School, where I was a speaker at their Shattered Dreams program. I appreciate you making the drive from Dallas for us to meet, and for you getting up early in order to arrive in time for us to meet (at my suggestion) prior to the start of the program. I deeply regret that our time was not what I had hoped for, as I was in a state of panic when I learned that the computer they had for my PowerPoint Presentation was a Mac instead of a PC and it would not play Windows Media Files, which are a crucial part of my presentation. Although the "tech guy" came up with a last minute solution, I was absorbed with trying to figure out how I was going to have the desired impact on the 1,500+ students I was about to speak to if half of my visual aids would not be able to be projected on the screens. This resulted in our time together being limited to just a few minutes, and again I deeply regret that we were not able to visit longer.

I have spent the better part of the last hour reading the history of your online journal here, and have barely scratched the surface. I finally had to stop reading, as I am emotionally spent. Between my presentation today, which is always emotionally draining, and then reading of the challenges the two of you have faced over these years since the crash, and more important the amazing faith, courage and conviction you both have in this "life mission" you both have been dealt, I need to just sit back now and reflect upon this day. God has placed many people in my life since my son's alcohol related crash in 2000. I have met so many families whose burdens are far heavier than mine. I think He does this to remind me that no matter how bad I feel the hand our family was dealt, it certainly wasn't the worst hand in the deck.

The circumstances that changed our lives forever are different in many ways, with exception of the drinking and driving element, yet our missions are so similar. I look forward to helping the two of you continue getting your message in front of the many young people who so desperately need to hear your story. I equally look forward to the time when we will be able to sit down and visit for more than just a few minutes.

Sean, that smile of yours is so infectious. Your mental attitude, despite the challenges you face daily, that I have learned of through what I have seen written about you, has truly "blown me away." You have said you know there is a reason why you didn't die that night when your life changed forever. I believe that as well. God didn't cause that crash to happen, but I firmly believe He prevented you from losing your life that night for reasons that will only be revealed to you on His timetable, not ours.

Several years ago I watched a dear friend deal with the devastation of ALS, (Lou Gehrig's Disease). In his final time here on this earth he was on a ventilator and completely paralyzed, only able to move his eyes and communicate by blinking at a letter on an alphabet board as his wife would move her finger across the letters until it landed on the letter that was part of the word he was trying to spell. Although his mind was as sharp as ever, he was trapped in a body that no longer "worked", much like you, yet he never let his "trial" defeat his spirit. I thought I would never meet another man in my lifetime with such a positive attitude who was dealing with the unimaginable challenges he faced daily. But then today I met you, and God showed me once again that the human spirit is sometimes beyond description. I so look forward to the day when I can be present among a student assembly that is blessed with the opportunity to hear you "speak."

Blessings to you both,

Jack Church

i just want to thank both of you for coming to speak at us at west high school yesterday. sean, you are so inspiring and your story had a huge impact on people. you identified with us about small town teenage drinking like no one has ever done with us before. i used to participate in those things but stopped my junior year because my boyfriend showed me that you can have fun without drinking and the risks aren't worth it. We also lost Katie Gant this year in November to an alchohal related accident. She was one of my best friends and it just reinforces me to help people to try to make good choices.
Thank you again so so much

Jenny & Sean, I am SO proud of you for your inputs to the Texas legislature regarding the need for sobriety checkpoints. I just "googled" Sean Carter Sobriety Checkpoints. Wow, what a number of newspapers are reporting your addressing the legislators. I am sadly amazed how many people leave comments that indicate they fell it constitutes a violation of human rights. What about the right to drive without worry that a drunken driver or drivers will swerve into your lane? Keep up the great work. Something needs to deter people from getting behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol. Thank you on behalf of my family and friends! Have a great week!

Jenny & Sean,
What an amazing story you have & what a heart of GOLD!! Your smile only shows the world that you are NOT a quitter. I was at the Anchor convention this week-end also, with the group of Pilot Officers. It was wonderful how you interacted with the young adults. Even though you may be a few years older, I am glad they got to hear your message! It should save lives! You are so lucky to have your Mom. She is such a hard worker & just goes to show that a parent will do ANYTHING for their children. I know she didn't have much choice, but she has been there for YOU. You couldn't be luckier, but you told us that at convention. The love that radiates between both of you is so meaningful! Hope to see you at Higher Ground, Camp for All this year!

Hello Sean and Jenny,
I am an anchor club member of Brenham High School and attended the convention in Austin. I am inspired by your story and wish you all the happiness in your inspiring efforts. My uncle was in a major car crash almost two years ago this coming September. At the time he was suffering of injuries from ten years before. In his first accident he broke his pelvis and was bed-ridden for over 6 months. A few days before his second accident he discovered that his old injury was worsening. In the crash my uncle shattered both legs and his hip. He was in the hospital, sedated for about 5 months. When he finally was allowed to go home he was bed-ridden again.
He was crashed and struggled with his emotions. He did not think he could go though this pain for a second time.
Although I could never say that Sean and my uncle's injuries were equal; as Sean did, my uncle had a goal. That goal was to WALK his daughter down the aisle that upcoming May for her wedding.
On the day of the wedding; as everyone stood up to see the bride walk down the aisle; my whole family were not only crying for the happy marriage of my cousin, but for my uncle who slowly but surely walked down the aisle.
I am sorry for this long entry, but what I am saying is THANK YOU. It is people like you and Sean that give us all hope and faith and for that I say again, Thank You.

P.S. My uncle also has a CaringBridge web page, it is:

Jenny & Sean, reading your 2008 summary of accomplishments for you both is so uplifting! You continue to set goals and exceed them, keep trodding onward and continue to receive the Lord's blessings with graciousness and use them to benefit so many people! On tonight of all nights, it is my prayer that those to whom you have made presentations, remember the message. It is very simple, yet so many cannot seem to get it right....It has been a year of challenges for our country as a whole and for many individuals. You have provided so much insight to your followers here and in the groups you continue to speak with. I ask, how can we not ALL be very thankful for our many blessings? Jenny & Sean, I have been remiss in writing, but have checked in periodically and I was so glad to see your entry this evening! The new pictures are beautiful! It is wonderful you have been offered another home in Wimberly when you all are in Austin. I must say that my favorite Texas music artis, Ray Wylie Hubbard, also lives there from what I understand. You are both blessed because you give of yourselves so much! I hope that Nancy does well in LA. Hey guys, glad to hear that things are going well. I have been so busy with the girls and work I have not had any time to write. (Sorry) David is in Dallas right now with his youngest having surgery on her knee. Everything went well, now just a long rehab. I am getting ready to sent my oldest off to the Navy (I'm a little sad), but it is all for the best. He is really looking forward to it. Keep up the good work and as always, ya'll are in my prayers.

I read Sean's story and am awed by his progress and spirit. It is unbelievable to me that he has been through so much and maintains such drive for recovery. He is truly inspirational to any young person lucky enough to hear him speak! God bless you all! I will keep your family in my prayers as you have kept mine in yours.

Sean and Jenny, I hope you all do get a day or two of relaxation. You guys expend a lot of energy in your treking back and forth, not only to home and Austin, but your speaking engagements. I hope you are able to get the truck seat and tail gate repaired soon. Jenny, you are becoming a pretty good trouble-shooter of the mechanical/electrical failures! Glad to hear that you and Bob will get a night out, like you said, even if it's on his "bucket list" maybe next time will be one of yours! I'm happy that Sean & Erin will be spending time together and I know they will value their time "alone" too! Have a great weekend and safe travels!

Hi Sean & Jenny. I have heard good things about you too over the past couple of weeks. You did make an impact at North Texas State Hospital - both campuses. One the WF campus I heard from one staff that this was the best thing we had brought to the hospital. Vernon also had good things to say. I personally was so glad to see you again. Keep up your good work. Love you guys!

So a drunk guy followed me home to my friends in-laws tonight. He blocked us in the driveway, got out of his car, told me to not follow him so closely and was clearly intoxicated since he followed us!!??!! and slurred his speech. Anyway, as he left, we followed him, called the cops and they sent an officer out right away. Officer couldn't find him but, sent a different cop to the guys house to wait for him! I shared your story with them for why I was so quick to call for help. They were gonna get the guy! The cop I spoke with of course new all about MADD and was glad I was quick acting. The perp had SEVERAL speeding tix in 5 different states and several counties around MN which made them want to mess with him regardless. They were happy to at least give him a scare and a talking to depending on what they would find when the kid got home. :)

Without your story, I would have probably gone home and done nothing except be upset since I did nothing to deserve this. I did something about it and it feels great! Thank you time and time again for your constant inspiration.

Love you guys!

Yes, they were placed there for sure and not everyone would accept the call to help like they did. Awesome folks, indeed! Amazing how things worked out for a mobility van for your trip to NM! It is odd that it will come from Houston, which is where my son Chris Cox and I were for the past three days. He had an orthopaedic surgeon repair his collarbone from a previous botched attempt by a Dr. in McKinney. We were down there Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. Also, although we didn't get to say hello to you we were both so honored to see you at Frank's memorial service. That was so nice of you to be there for us. It meant a lot to us. I suppose we will see you in the mountains of Red River in a few weeks! Keep on "keepin' on" Sean, and Jenny too.

You came and spoke to our church on Sunday July 20th in Denison. I just wanted to let you know that your speach is wonderful. Such a powerful message!!! I will honestly tell you that I couldn't sleep the night you came. You know you graduated the same year as I did. Only I went to Denison. My husband actually came and talked to you and had mentioned he did a lot of the same things you did and how it should of been him. You make people think, and that is awsome. Sean and Mom,

My 21 year old son, Ryan, suffered TBI in 2003. As his primary caregiver, I though we were well versed in life after TBI. After reading your email it seems there is still a lot we have not learned. Due to technological advances and medical miracles, more people than ever are living after traumatic brain injury. We find ourselves left to fend in what sometimes seems like a dark black hole. Ryan had also forgotten to speak. Our doctor from Baylor Rehab asked if Ryan had used a cell phone prior to his injury. We brought the cell phone to him and told him his friend was on the phone. I placed the phone to his ear and he spoke to his friend. It was the cell phone that reminded his brain. Odd, but it worked. And they've seen this before. If you ever find yourselves in Mesquite, TX and need a safe home, place to stay, hot shower or meal, don't hesitate to contact me. My email is below. There are many TBI survivors out here. Just not a place to meet or counsel each other with what we have learned. Many blessings to you both. Keep up the good work, and always keep the faith. We continue to wonder what God has planned. Kayla LaRue, Mesquite, TX.

All that I can do, I will do and try to do a bit more. I have some good ideas and want to be a part of this! God put you in my life for a reason and I am going to try to listen.

Hi, We just rec'd an email from you about your journey. Not sure how you found us but we are glad you did. Our son suffered a traumatic brain injury in March 2004. He is just starting to regain some speach, he is totally cognitive. He is gaining some control and movement in his right arm/hand. He just rec'd a Tango computer which he is learning to use with the index finger on his right hand. He has rec'd many treatments of hyperbaric oxygen which we feel has helped him improve tremendously. We shall never give up. I admire your srength. God Speed on your cross country journey.

I have had the previldge of meeting Sean and Jenny at the TBI camps that are held in Texas and sponsored by the Texas Pilot Clubs. I am also interested in Sean's journey since I am a Neuro Rehab RN at St. Davids in Ausin, and his story is one that I share with my patients that are newly injured. I hope to be a part of Sean and Jenny's life in many areas for many years......Sean, you are a miracle! And thank you for sharing with others.

Good luck with the walk in the morning. Don't overheat you two!! Maybe you could/should move north. Except it is extremely humid here in the summer. Those 10,000 lakes make alot of humidity. ;) Right now is beautiful though...
Thank for the well wishes I have received on here. It is very much appreciated.

I went with my brother and his family, mom and Randy to the mall today. I gave the twins a ride on my wheelchair so Sean, make room on your lap if you are able to come up here. They may ask for a ride.:)

Love you both.

Hi Guys~ I am done with my surgery and unfortunately it was unsuccessful. I was placed on a donor list yesterday and have to wait for a cadaver bone donation to rebuild my ankle. So I have to just wait....and wait....and wait. It makes me sad and feel yucky to think that I am waiting for someone to die so I can walk "normal" again. I have no choice, I was told, so I am trying to go with it but, sometimes it is overwhelming. This also pushes all of our infertility treatments off until after I am done with surgery and off of pain meds. I am in a state of limbo in my own way and you all are such an inspiration reminding me to not let this define me. Thank you for your strength and prayers. Love you both.

What an amazing young man!
My brother suffered severe brain trauma after a motorcycle accident. He was careflighted to Parkland and after one month, over to Baylor Rehab.
That was almost 5 years ago and today, he is walking and talking and driving -- even his stupid motorcyle :) !
God has a plan for my brother and he certainly has a purpose for Sean. God bless.

Hello Sean and Jenny. First, i will say I like www.whenseanspeaks.com - He speaks even thought it is not with sound. I think sometimes Sean speaks louder than words ever could. I think about when I first began to follow Sean's journey. It was 3 weeks after the accident when I saw an article on the front page of the Times Record News here in Wichita Falls - saying MSU student still in coma after three weeks. The story touched my heart so I logged on and the rest is history. It has been an amazing journey to see on paper and then be able to meet you both. I am so glad you came to WF and Vernon. You remain in my prayers and I am so very proud of what you two do. You may not know it now, but you HAVE changed lives. God bless!!! Love you both

Hello Sean & Jenny! It has been a little while since I have read your journal and last night late, I caught up. WOW! Sean I can't tell you how proud we are of you. You are truly the most courageous person that I have ever had the opportunity to know. We miss you. Jenny, you are the second most courageous! Our lives have many twist and turns and all we can do is punt and pray that we are doing the right things. Jenny, I read that you worried that you hadn't prayed for the right things. How can you possibly question your prayers? You were at Seans bedside constantly, rarely leaving except when you had to. You unselfishly allowed so many people that came to see him to stand at Seans bedside because you wanted them to see him and him to feel their presence. You talked to him unlike so many other patients mothers. You shared the day to day, you told him everyone was waiting and you caressed his face and arm and ask him to wake up and show you his smile. You posted his pictures so that the nursing/physican staff would know who they were dealing with. "Sean Carter" and he is a beautiful person inside and out. It was primarily your voice that Seans subconscious heard and your voice that I believe he was drawn to. Yours was the one voice that probably pulled him back. I told you then that God had a plan. We sure didn't know why or how something like this could have happened to Sean. Who wouldn't question why? You prayed for his "life". That was the correct thing. From reading, it appears that Gods plan is very apparent and very much at work! It seems that Sean is Gods messenger. Sean is one person that can spread "Faith and Hope". Sean you may not have "your voice" at this time but "your voice" is what one hears when "Sven" speaks for you. Sven shares "your focus", "your thoughts and feelings". "Your story". I am so glad that you have the mother that you do have..one that was willing to fight when her son couldn't fight for himself. A "pushy lady" (HA) maybe but her pushing and not allowing you to give up on your deepest darkest days and hers too..are part of what has kept you strong and persistent. To many mothers would have walked away from the responsibility. God had a plan from the day you were born. Can you imagine how many people you have touched at just one of your speaking engagements? One, Two, Ten, Fifty? Do you realize how many people in this world may NEVER touch anyone? Something you share may actually keep someone else from making a poor choice or bad decision and your influence will have protected them. What a wonderful thing....then to have the ability to "share hope" with someone else who may be in a similar situation as you. Someone that may feel hopeless and forgotten. By sharing your challenges and accomplishments you offer hope and reward. Your influence in the Roll-Talk for other patients with an inability to speak with their voice but by using the roll talk they can be heard! What a great idea! Who better to sell that idea than someone actually using it? Your "Caringbridge site" has been shared with several Neurological patients. You have given them hope in your Moms writings - and yours. You "should be" compensated for guest speaking and you should not feel guilty for having that requirement. Sean you will succeed in whatever you choose to do. You are the same survivor that you always were. I hope that someday I can sit in the audience and hear you speak. I'll be the lady towards the front that will say - "Hey I knew him when he was a little boy and what a wonderful young man he has grown into". "How proud I am of him"! Sean you may not "talk" yet and you may not be "walking" as well as you want to...but look where you have come. Baby steps are leading to greater strides. I am AMAZED! The acceptance to the Austin lab is wonderful and sounds like it may be the major opportunity needed right now. Science in the works! Frustrating as it may be..attitude, persistance, faith & hope. You have all the tools it takes to make things work. I pray that it will be your goodfortune and wish you every success.
I am not sure where to email anymore..let me know..our lives have changed alot too in the past year. None of us ever know what might happen next. You had a Guardian Angel the night of your accident and that Angel is still with you. May God Bless and always protect you honey. Please extend our condolences to Bob for the loss of his mother. Love to all your family. Susan
P.S. The picture on the BRI cover is really handsome!

Hi guys~ OMG I meant to contribute to your walk but, totally spaced it out. We have had way to much going on here but, finally a weekend without plans! I am catching up on things but, I am sooo sorry I missed your walk! Ours isn't until June so I guess I wasn't thinking about it yet. I am glad you had a great walk and good weather.

Good luck as you are making your decisions concerning moving. I know you will find an answer that works for all involved.

Love you both and again please accept my apologies about my donation to the walk.

Sean, I have said this before and I'm sure I'll say it again, but...YOU ROCK. It was so great to have an update from your perspective (nothing wrong with your mom's of course, but it's good to hear from you too). I thank God for your "girl troubles" because it means that you are alive and well and going through what all young men get to go through. I know you have extra challenges thrown in the mix, but I have no doubt that you will over come them. I believe with you that God, very possibly through science, will have you walking and talking again when His timing is perfect. You and your mom are always in my prayers!

Sean,
I have read your story with great interest. My son Justin Drew was in an auto accident on Feb 23, 2008, he too was a passenger, there was no drinking involved. Justin and his friend Chris were both ejected from the truck a Ford F250. Both of them suffered Traumatic Brain Injuries. Justin's injury was much worse, as it was also a diffuse axonal injury. We are currently in day 46, here at Shands at UF in Gainesville, Florida. We are praying that he will be accepted for rehabilitation at Brooks Rehab Hospital in Jacksonville. He is a Rancho Scale II currently and Brooks is one of the few hospitals that will take anyone under the level IV. We are praying for acceptance there. I have read your story and I am truly amazed at the faith your mom has and I am glad to read your post tonight. God is in control and I feel that everyday. God saved Justin's life and I have faith that he too will be able to make a difference in other lives because of this injury just as you are doing now. I will pray for you to walk and talk again. You are truly a strong young man and perhaps one day when Justin is able the two of you will meet. Prayers from Dunnellon, Florida. You can visit Justin's caringbridge page if you'd like.

Hello, Sean. My name is Rich and I am very interested in having you present your story of what happened to 200 + individuals who have been placed on probation for drunk driving, some for intoxicated manslaughter.
We provide a free service as a condition of their probation to attend the session which is similar to what MADD does.
Judge Hardy of one of Tarrant County's Criminal Courts has asked that I contact you and make this request for you to present a Victim Impact Message.
We meet the last Tuesday evening of each month from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Resource Connection located at 2300 Circle Drive in Ft Worth (I 20 and Campus Drive - near Tarrant Community College South Campus).

I read your entire web page and must say you have A Lot of great ideas and a very strong life energy that can change lives for good. If interested, please contact me as I really would like to have you meet and correspond with Angela Franko our Victim Services Officer for Tarrant County Adult Probation Department.

Max told me last week at his ECFE class " Auntie, I need to have some fun!" It was so sweet. I won't go on and on but, I could. ;) You guys just have to come back up here or maybe eventually we could all meet in the middle or get our whole clan to get down there. Hi Sean and Jenny. Jenny, you did pray the right prayers even if you don't think so. Our God knows your heart and knows you wanted full recovery. Sean may not be able to walk and talk now, but there is always hope! And, even without a voice, look at the words he speaks with his Roll Talk and his courage. You are a wonderful MoM. I do wonder sometimes what to pray for when I pray for my sons. I am thankful God is taking care of them and knows my heart. God Bless.

Wichita Falls, TX USA - Tuesday, April 1, 2008 11:51 AM CDT
Hi guys~
I wanted to check in on you on the 27th but, I unexpectedly went out of town for a funeral on Randy's side of the family.
Jenny, I was there with you in those early days and there were so many things to pray for we just had to pray for the first thing and that was survival. You have done an extraordinary job of praying and sacrificing everything so Sean can live a good life. I too, know that he isn't here to be silent forever. I know you say that any parent would do what you have done for their children but, really? Would any parent do that? I think most would but, for some it may seem like too much. They may put their child in a nursing facility somewhere only to leave them behind and then the parents live with a different kind of guilt.
Rejoice in the fact that your first prayers were answered, I know you do but, know that in time the rest of your prayers will be answered. Sean survived for a purpose that is bigger than all of us. You both are an inspiration to so many people. Just think of how many people you have assisted in choosing differently, many in ways you will never know. I love you both and know that you both are doing the absolute best you can do. Neither of you settle for second best, so you have no other choice than to go to the sky with all that you do!
Sorry for the "pep" talk. I know some days you just need to feel sad but, I wish there was something we could do to lessen your pain--- so I try with words......

I too watched the mistaken identity show. I cried almost all the way through it. I know as a mom and from reading your entry, we never really know what to pray for our children, just that they are safe and make good choices. I continue to pray that Kristen makes those good choices. Keep strong. GOD has gotten you this far, he will continue!
Susie <susie.mounts@usdoj.gov>
ftg, OK - Monday, March 31, 2008 9:39 AM CDT
Oh, Jenny, I just want to reach across the miles and hug you!! I know that a mother's guilt can be so intense, but do not belive those lies!! Your prayers, or lack of prayers, did not put Sean in the circumstances he is in. I don't believe for a second that God was sitting in Heaven saying, "Well, I was going to have him walking and talking but Jenny didn't ask for that, so..." God knew before you gave birth to your Beautiful Boy exactly what circumstances he would be in after his accident and exactly how He would use those circumstances for His glory. If praying "hard enough" or praying the "right things" is what made things happen, there would be no one sick or in pain because we would just pray it away, wouldn't we? I think your prayers availed much, and still do. I believe with you that Sean WILL walk and talk again. Today? Tomorrow? I don't have those answers. But until then, I know that you have done everything you can as a mom to take care of your son, and that includes your "imperfect" prayers. Don't let the enemy make you believe otherwise.

Jenny all too often we don't know how to pray and especially in a crisis but God knows what we need.I feel sure had it been my son or grandson I was looking at in that bed I would have prayed just like you did please God let him live and let his mind be good. Just because Sean hasn't walked or talked yet doesn't mean he never will. Love to both of you

Jenny,Bless your heart! How could any parent know the right prayer to say at those first moments not knowing the outcome of the injuries? You did all you could have, which was pray from your heart. At times like that, it's all mother instinct. You and Sean are both extrordinary people and have taken a path to make sure many mothers and sons don't have to live what you have lived the last three years. Blessings will come to you both! Many hugs....
