Hi Sam, Tami and Jon--what an amazing family you all are. You all experience the pain that Sam goes through and some how (THROUGH PRAYERS AND FAITH) you all come through with strength and positive attitudes. Sam, we hurt for all the pain you go through each time we read about some sort of set back you have. Yet you emerge and are the happy little darling anyone can ever imagine. The pictures of you are so gratifying after hearing of your pain this past week. Sweetheart you are amazingly strong willed without knowing it at your young age. Tami and Jon without your positive attitudes and faith we know how difficult it is for you to witness all that Sam has and is going through-- but you are a REMARKABLE couple! Hurray for all of you!!! and above all else--GOD BLESS. You all are constantly in our prayers.

Luv u all,

Super Trooper Sam,
It's wonderful seeing you free of all of the tubes and knowing you're doing so well. Your big eyes kind of freaked me out! The highlight of my stay at your home in addition to spoiling Ted & Oscar was looking at your delightful pictures every day. You continue to be in my prayers, as are Mommy, Daddy, Tisha and the medical team, and these prayers are being answered. When you get back to Texas, I hope you'll get to visit me in Missouri so I can take you to Branson to meet my friends and big fans of yours, Magician (and Pastor) Dave and Denise Hamner at their theater. They pray for you each day, too. Take care, and I can hardly wait to see you. I love you all so much.

AS PART OF SAM'S VERY LARGE ENTENDED FAMILY (AND THERE ARE CERTAINLY A LOT OF US) I BELIEVE I AM CORRECT IS SAYING THAT BOTH JON AND TAMI HAVE FOUR GENERATIONS OF FAMILY LIVING FROM COAST TO COAST...HOW CAN WE EVER POSSIBLY CONVEY OUR THANKS AND APPRECIATION FOR THE KINDNESS SHOWN BY TISHA TO THIS FAMILY BY SAVING THIS LITTLE BOY'S LIFE---
AS JON MENTIONED IS HIS LATEST UPDATE AT OUR LATEST FAMILY REUNION WE WERE ASK TO NOMINATE A SAINT IN THE GAPPA FAMILY
WHAT HE DID NOT TELL YOU IS THAT HIS OLD AUNT HELEN NOMINATED JON AND TAMI GAPPA----WHAT A LUCKY LITTLE BOY SAM
IS TO HAVE THEM AS HIS PARENTS---WHAT A FAMILY GOD CREATED
IN THEM---MAY HIS BLESSINGS CONTINUE FOR THIS FAMILY

I will pass on a prayer to you that was said for my son when he was 2 or 3 years old. No matter how much we love our children, God loves them even more. I never forgot that prayer and now my son is 31 years old. Men's job is to fix things and I never felt so down when we thought something bad was wrong with Josh, I knew I couldn't fix it by myself, but when a man I bearly knew said that prayer I PUT IT ALL IN GOD'S HANDS. And that burden was lifted. Praise God!

Hi Tami & Jonathan - Mark & I will miss you at the wedding, but you certainly have a bigger celebration of your own today! I caught Tami's mom on the phone a few wks. ago in a call to TX, where I got an inkling of what was going on. Then, I got Jonathan's aunt, who gave me the website, on the phone there today. We've been out of touch so long, I had no idea what was going on-- but I'm glad I found out in time to add to the undoubtedly bountiful prayers going up for Sam, both of you, Tisha, and the medical team today! Big Boy Sam, Tami and Jonathan,
My goodness, you're accomplishing so much this year with one major surgery behind you, losing your first tooth and now the icing on the cake with a new kidney so you'll be rid of the dialysis machine. Way to go! Thank you for trusting me to care for Ted and Oscar while you're in CA; I'm sure the three of us will say many prayers and have long talks about you. More feelings than words came up in first looking at the photos. There was shock, kind of a gripping of stomach, tensing of shoulders as I took in the big picture; his passive expression of face and hands contrasted sharply to the long gash and splotches of orange gel. The second sleeping position looked angelic; the third almost an angelic trance-like pose of acceptance. Tears welled, my throat constricted. What a beautiful boy. My mind searches for words of encouragement, but the photos overwhelm. I am humbled by the images, by the arduous journey of this brave boy.

Sam, Tami,and Jon:
I know it's easier said than done, but rest confidently in the knowledge that God is in control, that all things are possible through Christ, and that, just as He sustains the sparrows each day, so much more, He cares for and provides for YOU. He knew Sam while he was still in Tami's womb, and He loves and knows exactly what little Sam needs. He's brought you to these particular doctors, and He will guide the sugeon's hands today. Many people are praying, and God hears the prayers of His people. Hang in there.

Wow Sam! You do not look like the same baby I remember. You are no longer a baby! Maybe you should talk to Julian and Jackson about this potty training stuff....they need to fully initiate into the Big Boy Potty Club too! I guess you guys probably wouldn't recognize Julian and Jackson either. We've been keeping busy and having a good summer. Hope to see you around town soon!

Dear Gappa Family
I just found out about your blog. My husband is involved in SVDP with Tami. It is remarkable that she has been able to put in so much time for the organization. I know from having done it how much time the hot line takes. Our daughter was diagnosed with leukemia at 2 years. After three years of chemo and a couple of setbacks, today she is a beautiful, healthy 16-year- old. Miracles do happen. You have been and will continue to be in our daily prayers.

Hi Big Boy Sam.
I just saw the three new pictures-well one old one and two new ones. Brings back some very scary memories-seeing you in your "post-surgery" state. I remember sitting there with your mommy and daddy, your two grandmas & grandpa Bob. I don't think there was a second that you were without one of us at your bedside! I can't believe it's been two years! We are all so blessed and it's great to see how you've grown.
It's been way too long since I've seen you in person. Keep the messages coming and the wonderful artwork for my fridge! Love you so very much!

Hi dear sweet little one. Just read your update Jonathan. How precious U are looking Sam. Want everyone to know that I just spoke with a very nice lady,Terese Hardman, in Family Services from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, where grandma Rosemary worked, who knows her and I was telling her all about you. She is adding you to their prayer chain for special prayers for you to get all better. I was so touched with speaking with her as she has a niece who was diagnosed with cancer at age 10 and is now 21 and doing beautifully. How encouraging is that!!!

Love U bunches. Hope to get to C U while you're all here. Let's make a special effort. I know Auntie Anne would just love to see you. Maybe we could somehow get you to Mount Alverna for a little quickie visit.

I visited so many churches while I was in France and made sure to light candles for you, mommy and daddy in every one of them; so don't be surprised if you feel some extra "stuff" coming your way! Dearest Family: I apologize for not writing sooner, but sometimes life gets ahead of me,but that does not mean that you are not in my prayers and thoughts a thousand times a day. I know, in my heart, that a donor will be found and our boy will get his new kidney. Our prayers are being answered each and every day. Look where we are today with Sam,compared to 18 months ago. God has blessed our Sam in so many wonderful ways. Just to look at him and one would know that. I miss you all very much, and cannot stand being away from you any longer, soooo, grams is coming to see you in Feb. and I can hardly wait. Until then, sweet Sam your pictures and our phone calls will have to suffice. I love you all very much. May God in all His goodness continue to bless you all. Love Grammie Rosemarie

Dear sweet Sam,
You are such a blessing to our family, and you have no idea how much we all love and pray for you. The strength you have in fighting your battles is more than most adults could ever imagine. I pray many times a day that God will provide a donor for you so you won't have to be on dialysis. God's answered many of our prayers for you, and in my heart I believe He will do it again. I wish I wasn't too old, I would let you have a kidney in a second. You are amazing and have the strongest, most loving parents any child could ever hope to have. Continue to be strong, little one, and I can hardly wait to see those gorgeous eyes and bright smile in person again.
I love you and your mommy and daddy.

Jon, Tami, and Sam,
Our prayers, along with everyone else's, are daily and frequent for you all. God has truly blessed you with Sam and Sam with you. The faith that you two have is a testimony that we all need. We love you and trust God will bring Sam a kidney soooooon!
Also, my offer still stands (maybe they can make an exception)....this is the first time I have ever been too old for something.

Tami and Jon,

It's been a long time since I've visited this site. A special thanks to Anne Howard for sending an email tonight with the link for the latest update. My heart aches for you guys as we all continue to pray for that miracle that little Sam needs. The good news is, it is possible. And I'm going to send this update to all the people I know in case there is a possible match out there for him. At a minimum, Sam can use prayers that God will find a kidney for him. Miracles happen....we've seen that already. Now, we'll pray for one more!

Hello Sam, you don't know me. I know you only indirectly via your great aunt Ruby and your website at Caringbridge. I have watched you grow via the photos your dad and mom post on your website. I am amazed at what a handsome boy you are after enduring so many medical procedures and treatments. Your smile has remained throughout this ordeal which convinces me that you must indeed be a very special child. I have been praying for you and your folks for over a year and am hoping that 2006 will be a mile stone in your progress toward a healthy future.

Hi Gappas! Just wanted to let you know that the Findlays were thinking of you today. I hope Sam's visit went well. We are quite certain that Sam "wowwed" the staff at Stanford like he does everyone he meets. Can't wait to hear how it went.
