I'm so glad to hear that Macy's cardiology appt went so well! Nicole had her 2-year check-up in January and I, too, hold my breath a each time we have to go. (Thankfully we also got a good report, although our typically fearless little Nicole was absolutely terrified of the EKG this time making that part of the appointment very LOUD!) We will be praying for Macy's sinus issues to be resolved without surgery.

Hi Summer - you do not know me, but I came across your caringbridge site through others. My daugher Victoria (whose first name would have been Summer if I had my way) has Turner Syndrome. She will be 4 in September and was diagnosed at 18 months. I've read your journal entries and am glad to hear how well Macy is growing and that she is doing well. We have enjoyed reading through Macy's life story on this website. It is a wonderful tool that her parents have used to let others know what is going on with Macy. Last Sunday (Feb 23) We really enjoyed speaking with Marcy and Dirk Allison and with Summer on Macy's heart and medical journey. As I explained my son Bradley was born in 1984 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and was operated on by Dr. Norwood. Bradley underwent three surgeries and lived two and a half years, but changed us for a lifetime.
Macy is such a miracle, for the left ventricle to "grow out" is nothing short of divine intervention. My heart and prayers go out to her brave and caring parents. I do understand, having been down that road, the stress and anxiety of a child born with serious medical issues and how difficult that is. I also know the emotional highs that are treasured when you look in Macy's eyes and know that God, the creator of the universe was also personally involved with this special little girl.
When my son Brad was alive, someone once asked me "it must be a burden to raise a child with serious health issues". I told them actually Brad was a blessing. Now heart disease, that was a burden, but not my baby he was a blessing from God.
Barb and I hope to see little Macy someday. To actually look into the eyes of a very special child of God would be overwhelming to us.
May God's blessings always be with Macy. May God bless her and keep her, may God make his face shine upon her and give her peace.

They grow up too fast!!! Your girls are beautiful and so blessed to have a mommy who prays so diligently for them. Your statements about good health are so true. I think we have to experience health problems to truly understand what a gift good health is. I'm so thankful that Macy is doing so great and we still pray for her to not have any more health problems.

BTW, I love the pumpkin sweaters...one of Clayton's friends has the boy version of the same sweater and I had a fit over it. Hopefully she'll hand it down next year since he's a size bigger than Clayton. :)

Summer,
I thought about Macy all last night and this morning, I actually fell asleep last night thinking of the precious hug she gave me yesterday after school. Usually her hugs are quick and on her way being busy. This hug was so different. It was such a tight close hug, and when she laid her sweet head on my shoulder, I felt like she was saying, Thank you for Loving me. For me that was such a blessing. Another note about her speech, when I cannot clearly understand her, I just let her know it is ok, and I just bend down to her level, and take her hands in mine and ask her to tell Ms. Cheryl again. She then, looks at me with such sparkle in her eyes and her shy smile,(she gives me when she is not sure) and with such confindence tells me again and that works. I always enjoyed subbing for Ms. Jennifer becasue I Loved teaching Ansley, I am so in Love with My Miss Macy and I am so falling in Love with little Emerson. Continue to have faith and never stop praying. Give Macy a big hug for me and I will see her on Tuesday!

I hadn't checked the site for a few weeks and just felt prompted to. After reading your updates, I realized that Macy's appt. is in just a few minutes. I'm praying that God gives you His peace and that Macy has nothing more than a cold. I know that He is more than able to take care of our precious little girls, even in the midst of our uneasiness about their health. I often have to remind myself that He knows the plans that He has for Nicole - plans to prosper her, and not harm her, to give her hope and a future - even when I can't see where we're going or why we seem to be taking a "detour."

Wow, I just read your last journal entry.... what a scare you had. Poor sweet girl. I will be praying about the tonsils. It is a scary thing, especially with all she has endured. I am glad you are not taking that decision lightly. Lots of people told me it was no big deal with little kids, SO not true- not for us anyway with little Ty man. Definately lifting up some prayers. BTW, LOVE the pictures-amazing how she has grown. They all look so pretty and that little headband on Emerson is too cute!

Layton, Macy is you made over!!!!! I think that she looks so much like you when you were her age. I can tell that she has your personality also. As a matter of fact, one of these days I'm going to hunt up the picture I have of you in Arizona. I think you were about 3 at the time.

I have to say that I laughed out loud at that first picture! They are all great though. I am SO impressed with Layton's ability to build a picnic table, and it looks really great! How fun to see them enjoying it together. Your family is so beautiful!

I love the picture of the girls and Layton at the picnic table. What a beautiful family you have, Summer! So many times I look at the pictures of Ansley and Macy and think, "They look so much like Summer as a little girl!" But in this picture I can see how they resemble Layton, too.

By the way, do you remember dancing on top of my parents' picnic table and recording ourselves doing commercials for "Dancing With Daniel's"?

Loved the new pictures!! I can't believe Ansley is starting Kindergarten, Macy is playing ball & Emerson is 6 months old!!! I can still remember when each one was born(my long term memory is still pretty good - just have problems with short-term) I'm so thankful that everything is going well. Layton, I know how you feel being the only male in an all female house. We have had the GRANDsons for a week & I was totally outnumbered. What great memories though.

Summer and Layton,

We are glad to see that things are going good around there. I have checked your updates regularly, but haven't commented in a while b/c I'm usually holding Callahan when I do. I hope that you are getting some rest more with each day, Callahan is sleeping through the night, but up at 5:30 - so different from Carson at this age who was sleeping almost 12 hours at 4 months! I would love for the two new ones to meet! I don't know if we will be able to make it to Lori's wedding or not. We would love to see you guys. We miss you all! The pictures of the girls are precious - they are all little beauties and so glad Macy is doing so well... what a miracle child!

Hi Summer, I just read your entry from the end of December about all the sleep deprivation. I hope that it has gotten better, it sounded crazy at your house at that time. As far as tips that have worked here, both of our kids go through sleepless phases. Lately, we just let A. get in bed with us when she has nightmares so that we can get back to sleep quicker. She doesn't have them very often.
I have made a practice of going to thier room and praying for each one of them and for them to have "happy dreams" and to sleep well each night after they are asleep. We've also started playing a Baby Praise cd on repeat all night in their room. Those 2 things seem to help us.
When Joshua was a newborn, Dave handled Alyssa in the night and I was up with Joshua. That way I could at least sleep through her stuff. I feel for you. Is this what it will be like for me in August?! I feel exhausted just thinking about it! Hang in there.
