Hi James, I hope you are doing well. You may remember us. We were on the same Make A Wish trip as you in Hawaii. Just wanted to let you and your family know we are thinking about you. Thomas finished his chemo protocol in October 2008. He is doing well and back to school and playing baseball. His web site is www.caringbridge.org/visit/thomasfrasier

Hi James, I'm really glad we got to see you guys this weekend(March 14th-16th). And I'm so glad that the results of your biopsy came back good. Maybe if you and Russell begin to email you can get him to go to camp this summer. Who knows? James, you look so good with hair and you look very healthy too. Russell and I hope to hear from you guys more often and we will keep you and your family in our prayers. Love, Novie and Russell Helsel

Did you get Sarah's birthday card? Sounds like you had a great one and a terrific summer. We start school here in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to gear up! Oh my gosh, you look fab! I check on you often but get bummed because you haven't posted in soooo long. Way to go on being deported. Wow! I remember when I, personally was deported (did you know I also had cancer a couple of years ago?) and boy do I ever remember when Sammy was deported!

Great news all around. I am curious about one of your teachers. I think she might be married to one of my cousins. I am related to the Spiritas' in dallas. Let her know my maiden (before marriage) name was Goldstrich.

Anyway, so glad your summer was so terrific. My friend, Jenny, was a camp counselor at your cancer camp. Do you remember her.

You look sooooo good and here's to a much better year for all of us.

Lots of love,

Hi James, I'm so glad that Russell went to camp with you this summer. He has done nothing but talk about all the mischief you guys got into. Russell's already making plans for his return to camp next year! I thought I would never get him to do something like that and be away from me for a whole week. Anyway, I hope you have a great school year and you get to do all the things that you want and are meant to do in your life. You and your Mom have no idea how much you two have helped Russell and Me deal with all of treatments, the hospital and everything that goes with having cancer means. You will be forever in our hearts and prayers. Thanks again, Russell and Novie Helsel

Hi Jamesey, what's up? I am so proud of you!You had a long road ahead of you and you took it and you made it all the way to where you are today, a healthy young man who is crazy about Mr. Freeze! (Ha) Seriously, It was so fun for me watching you running around six flags, riding those scary rides and having the best time. That was worth it for me watching you, although I also liked the rides...thanks for riding with me.

I remember on the last Saturday evening when you were in the hospital we talked about how bittersweet it will be for you not being a patient any longer, but as I told you, you would be so involved in your summer activities you won't have time to think about the hospital. But remember, you can now be an inspiration for another family who is checking in with a child who has cancer, you will be the hope they need. Remember when we met several kids when you were first a patient? I know it made me feel good to see these beautiful children living a healthy carefree life.

I will be out of town for a while but I will talk to you when I get back...and probably when I am gone. Take care sweetie and keep enjoying the summer. Love you very much! Aunt Amy

Lisa, thank you for your e-mail introducing yourself and James to our family. It would be great to be able to meet you sometime when we are in the Metroplex. It is so heartening to hear your story -- you're right, in spite of the age difference, there are a number of similarities in James' and Chris' experiences. One of your guestbook entries mentions Heroes for Children. Our family has recently become involved with HFC, and it is such a wonderful and needed organization. Congratulations to James and your family on finishing the chemotherapy regimen. That is such a huge accoomplishment!

It was recently determined that Chris will not require radiation therapy, so he began the continuation roadmap of the research protocol the end of May. He is currently in Cook's to begin his first 5-day chemo since the resection surgery. Thank you for asking about him!

Love and prayers to James and your family from Wichita Falls!

Dear James, Lisa & Mike,

Wow! I remember the very first night I met you Lisa over on 12 South. You're right...what a difference a year makes. It was fresh for you then. You were so frightened and guarded. You quickly let down your guard and went into battle if that makes sense. You seized the villain and conquered in the end. That is our job as mothers to kids with cancer. We are relentless.

I adore James and loved seeing him as the marshall along with Divine at the HFC 5K. There's something about James that I totally connect with. He's bright and compassionate. He's an athlete and scholar. He's a bright and shiny star and your family is so incredibly blessed to have him be a part of it as I know you know.

We do have the world's best docs. How on earth did we get so lucky? Even those moms whose children has lost their battle believe the "Three Wise Men" are simply the best in so many ways; intelligence, compassion, bedside manner, discipline, honor, respect, guidance and so forth. We could have taken our kids many different places, thank God, we chose Medical City.

As you begin your new life as "normal" remember a few things. You never had the chance to grieve. It might hit you now. You might find yourself in a state of anger. This is all part of the grieving process and Dennis & I are experiencing it now. You've lived with the idea of James' fate for so long, it's difficult to let your guard down and be a "happy" family. Stay focussed and don't waiver. The next several months will be a challenge.

We love guys and hold a very very special place in our hearts for James.

All our love!

Dana, Dennis, Sam and Ethan

James, we are so very proud of you completing your treatments!
Way to go, Slugger!
It was great seeing you Tuesday night at our A's game. Thanks for your wonderful help!
We have a game tonight @ 6:00pm, if you can make it, we would love to see you.
Then, we have a game this Saturday night @ 8:15pm if you can make that, as well.
If you are up to it, maybe we can get you into a few of our remaining games of the season.
We will be missing a few players, and probably could use you in the field, and at the plate, if you are up to it.
Check with Dad/Mom and let me know.
Hey, have a great Summer, and keep the faith!
Love, Coach Fred

Hello James! Treatment is almost DONE! Hurray! My name is Brent Morgan. I was the owner/driver of the T-bird and Porsche pace cars at the Heroes for Children Race. I had a blast driving you and Divine around! It was so nice to be around such wonderful, strong, and energetic young men like you and Divine! You are both welcome to come ride in my T-Bird and Porsche anytime! I would really enjoy that. Take care and my thoughts are with you always!

Dear James,

Down one more, eh? I'm so glad you got and liked the cranes! The kids were so proud to see you mentioned them in your last post! I bet it's starting to get hot there. It's finally warming up here. We think about you all the time and hope this round wasn't too rough. Take care and happy mother's day next week, Lisa!

Love,

Hey, James...We are counting down your treatments and miss seeing you so often. Hope this one was an easy one. You'll have to show Greyson and Griffon the cranes -- maybe we can get them started on the next 1000!
The reflections award is awesome and I think it has a great chance of winning there, too.
We'll see you soon. If you are feeling good on Saturday -- the Bobcats are in a soccer tourney at Campbell Green -- I'm sure they'd love to see you!

Hello my little crawfish. I survived the CDC (Crawfish Damage Control)....I didn't tell you this but after I cleaned up the neighborhood I looked in my back yard and there were at least 10 that my neighbors threw over, some half eaten, others were whole. Glad you all had a good time. The boy Dalton that was here really enjoyed playing with you and he wants to become your friend....isn't that cool? You keep in touch...

Hi, James-
Just checking in to see how you are doing. I hope you are feeling good!!! Alex, Lauren and Avery say a big hello to you from Arizona. When you get a chance to visit our beautiful state, I'd like to show you the Grand Canyon, the beautiful San Francisco Peaks in Flagstaff, the Red Rocks of Sedona and the butterfly garden in Tucson. We have had so much rain this year, the desert is alive with wild flowers. Even the cactus are in full bloom. We have a family of quail making their home in our back yard. It's a magical time of year. I hope springtime in Texas is just as wonderful. Keep swinging that bat and keep up your good fight against cancer. We love you and pray for you. XXOOOOO

James and Family,
My son Parker and I had a few minutes and thought we would check on the DFW kiddos. You guys have so much in common. He loves the Mavs too. He got to meet Mark Cubin last year aka. "Mr. Cubini" to Parker. He loved it. MCD is where we do all our Dallas care too. Most of ours is in Houston now. But, if we have a problem we wouldn't go anywhere else. We love the 6th floor nurses and staff.

Hope all continues to go well for you and your family. Keep on Jammin' and Slammin'. Parker says "Hey Dude". Our prayers are with you.

Hi James,
It was great seeing you a few weeks ago at Medical City when you were "working" at the nurses' station. I was really impressed with the professional way you managed the call light system. I think about you every day when I look at my VBS Great Britain golf team flag with my name on it. It hangs on my bathroom mirror where I can see it every day and think back to all the fun we had that week. I'll keep looking for you when I am at work.

Hi James,
I am Andy's mom. Andy is in the hospital in Minnesota right now. He had a bone marrow transplant on Friday, Feb. 4th because of a leukemia relapse. He's doing really well. He's been through a lot of rough chemotherapy so he knows what you're going through. It isn't much fun. One thing we have learned is that lots of prayers and a positive attitude--even when it's hard is as important as all of the medicine. (I can tell by the smile on your face that you already know that!) Brian Spencer wrote on Andy's Caringbridge site and told us about you. We don't know Brian, but we know his family in Wisconsin. His nephew Shawn is a good friend of Andy's. Do you know Shawn?

Congratulations on hanging out with Shaq! Wow! How cool is that!!!

Hang in there! Know that you've got prayers coming from Wisconsin--even though we're hanging out in Minnesota these days.

Good Morning! How is the homework going???? Remember you need to do it, get it out the way then you have all day to have fun! I have been thinking about you and hoping that you are feeling good. Everyone I see always ask me "how is James doing"...so then I tell them how you are. You are very popular. Take care...Aunt Amy

Hey buddy, I am glad to be spending time with you at the hospital sorry my nursing skills weren't so keen the other night when you were getting sick, but at least I am good with the "jug". Take care and keep up the good work, it is down hill from here and soon we will be planning the mud bug party (crawfish). Take care. Love, Aunt Amy

Dear James,
We're thinking of you here as we're practically buried in snow! We could use a little sunshine, though snow is super fun. Kids bring snowpants to school...weird, huh? We miss you!

xoxo

Hi James,

It was good to see you yesterday. You seem to have found a way to make that 6th floor look like a second home. And you have clearly charmed the staff.
Your buddies did a good job at the Talent Show last night. And of course, Renee was already thinking of you as she was taping all of the 3rd grade segments. Jeff is making a dub of that tape for you today.
Did your mom & dad share some of those cookies & brownies with you yesterday? Between that and your dad's birthday cake, hope your sugar high didn't keep you up all night!

Hi James,
We are glad you had a nice Christmas.
Isn't family time great? Fills one up with love and recharges us for the new year!
I have been thinking about all the wonderful people around you.
The doctors, nurses and hospital staff are a blessing to your physical well being.
Your church family is a blessing for your spiritual well being and support.
Your family and friends surround you with love and emotional well being.
God is on His throne answering prayers through all these wonderful people. What an Awesome God!
You inspire me with your courage and tender heart!!!
I pray this will be a year of victory for you and your family!
Love,
The Lucas'

Martha - James is only a man of few words on the computer!!!

James - it was great to see you this weekend. Are you available this coming weekend too?

All other website devotees - anyone up for some food delivery next week to the hospital? James will be in from Wednesday through Sunday (12th to 16th). Email me a day preference and we can go from there. Thanks!

Hey, James!

How about doing a Journal posting and letting all the friends and famiy who love you know just how your Christmas was?

Any resolutions for the New Year? Or is that only for "old people"? ;>)

Love, Grandma

Happy New Year Faulkinberrys and Happy Sunday!

James-
It was SOOO good to see you at your home this past week. Argos, our goldendoodle, liked meeting you and your family too! That new bike is really cool; I hope to see you on it soon.
I was hoping that maybe you and your family would make it to church this morning, but I bet the rain held you back. I can't wait to see you there soon.

May 2005 be a year of new beginnings. Just think--in a few months, all those treatments will be over!! Keep fighting...you and your family are more inspiring to all of us than you will ever know.

With much love-
Mrs. G.
