I was going to update our family blog with the following post, but decided it pertains most to Chrissy, so am posting here instead!
Yesterday, a friend and I discovered that our children's profiles on Caring Bridge and Hydranencephaly.com had been accessed by a group of truly vile people who call themselves CF's (i.e. Child Free) and have a forum on a website they call BratFree.com. That is fine with me, as people are entitled to their own lifestyles, even though I may not agree with it. But it is NOT fine to access other people's children's profiles with the sole purpose to berate, make fun of, and degrade those children! Especially a special needs child. And one who has done nothing to them, and they do not even know!
I am saddened by the state of the world today, and the state of moral decay, that would produce a population that is capable of such screwed up views on the value of human life. These people, in several different posts, described my child as "vegetable", "waterhead", "myracull", "forced to live" and various other incredibly hurtful and shameful ways. At the same time, they also called mother's of these children "Moos", who only want to "prolong our children's suffering", are "selfish", "cruel" and "should be punished for keeping their children alive".
Yes, I am telling the truth here. It was incredibly hurtful. They used our children's names, sited the website, and attacked one of our mother's who dared to post back with a rebuttal as to the value of our children's lives. When I, myself, tried to post, the post was removed immediately and replaced with a chopped up version of one or two sentences, that they then used to further denigrate my skills as a mother and human being who is a parent!
So, since I was not allowed to post there and defend my child, myself, or the value of a life, I am just going to say a few words here. I hope they return to Chrissy's Caring Bridge site and read. Maybe it will, in some small way, touch what little humanity and compassion they must have somewhere buried deep in their souls!
My Chrissy is a beautiful child of God. She has not just value, but an eternal spirit that is pure and good and noble. She is a sweet, happy little girl that asks no more from life than to be loved. She is courageous and brave as she deals with medical procedures and illness. She loves life, and deserves to live it just as much as a healthy individual! Her place on this earth is as valuable as any other persons. And thank the Lord, her place in Heaven is assured! The people that degraded and made fun of her do not have that assurance (though they probably do not believe in God either)!! In fact, as a friend of mine said "They will not realize their mistake until they have flames licking at their toesies in the next life". That made me smile. Because she is so right!
For my friends and their children who were also attacked, and for all mother's of our special children, my love and support goes with you daily. I pray for us all as we do the best we can do every day, all for the love of our children! Our rewards will be in Heaven one day, when our sweet sweet babies come to us, and tell us how much they love us, and how much they appreciated our love and faith and perseverance in caring for them!
Chrissy I love you darling! I speak of your worth with the pure sure knowledge that you are also loved by your Father in Heaven and the Lord Jesus Christ. You are a precious valiant jewel in my life, in your family's life and in the eyes of GOD!
I am thankful every day for you. I am thankful I am a mother. I am thankful I have a heart and soul (unlike some individuals who walk this earth). And I am thankful for compassion and unconditional love.
Chrissy, you are my little love and my HERO! I LOVE YOU!!!
Your Mommy (Angela)

Hello friends! Chrissy continues to thrive and amaze! She is now ten years old, 50 inches tall, and weighs 78 pounds! She is growing up so fast. We are so proud of her every day. Chrissy has adjusted to her trach very well, and loves to sleep on her vent at night. She is on regular room air during the day and is as active and happy as ever. Her seizure disorder has settled down dramatically, and her seizures are very well controlled with her Keppra and Lamictal.
Our lives have been blessed this year so far, with more peace and more calm and more faith. We could not ask for anything more at this time. God is Good!

Haven't written in a while! But Chrissy has been so healthy, we haven't had much to update regarding her health! That is a good thing!
Our family has been through a horrible year though. We lost our precious baby, Emily, in a drowning accident in January and life has been so hard for us since then...
Chrissy has been my comfort and peace. The light in my life that keeps me focused and going despite the pain of losing a child.
I am so thankful for her sweet spirit and her smiles. She reminds me daily why I am here on this earth and must remain for a space of time, until we can all return to our Heavenly Father and be a complete family once again.
Chrissy is truly a miracle!!

Here we are in August already!! Chrissy has been so healthy since her trach in March. What a blessing it has been for her. We are so blessed to have her in such great spirits and so robust in her health!
School starts tomorrow and Chrissy continues to be Home Bound this year. She stays much more healthy at home and she loves her teacher, Miss Susie, so very much!
We are glad to be here in Houston as a family, and love our home we moved into a few months ago.
Chrissy's sister, Emily, will be getting her cochlear implant soon, and her brother Stephen, is starting first grade. So ours is a busy, but happy household right now.
Thanks to all our friends and relatives who continue to pray for our family!! The prayers are working!!
God bless!

Well, it is March 2009 and we are just getting out of the hospital with Chrissy. On March 3, 2009 she went in for a tracheostomy. Chrissy has been having difficulty breathing since December. Her neurological condition causes her to "curl" her tongue towards the back of her throat. As a result, she was blocking her own airway!
The best, fastest, and least intrusive procedure to fix this problem was a trach.
She has been doing well in the hospital and is going home tomorrow. She is as happy and relaxed as ever and doesn't seem to be bothered by the trach at all. She is such a little trooper! And breathing is a good thing!!
We will be glad to get home to her dad and siblings tomorrow! Two weeks in the hospital is a looooong time! Thanks for everyone's prayers!

Happy New Year Friends and Family! Chrissy just celebrated her 8th birthday on December 26, 2008. How exciting is that?! She continues to amaze us all with her tenacity and love of life.
Chrissy had a bad seizure about two weeks before Christmas. She scared us all, as she stopped breathing during the seizure. We had to call 911 and start CPR.
I truly believe during the three minutes Chrissy was "gone" she must have had a conversation with her Heavenly Father. I can only believe that she asked to remain here with her family on earth for a while longer and He granted her request. I know I am so grateful to have her here for another New Year and pray she will stay quite a while longer!!
GOD IS GOOD TO US!

Our darling Chrissy is now seven years old. She is more verbal, more happy, and more active each day. Chrissy is being homeschooled now, due to a recent move into a school district that could not meet her needs to our satisfaction. She continues to do switch work and make choices via switch. Chrissy has lost eight baby teeth and grown in six permanent teeth. She is in early puberty and so has grown four inches and gained 10 pounds in the last year! She is now 44 inches in height and weighs 44 pounds. This is awesome for her, as she has had trouble gaining weight in the past.
Chrissy and mom just returned from a wonderful trip to Disney World in Florida, with mom's friend Dru and Dru's son (Chrissy's best friend), Logan. The two kids had a wonderful time! Chrissy especially enjoyed meeting Cinderella this trip, as well as smiling with excitement when meeting Piglet and Eeyore and Pooh Bear.
Chrissy continues to be healthy, with no hospitalizations or illnesses since our move to Texas in June 2007. We are so thankful for her health and the joy she continues to bring to our family. Her baby sister Emily, is especially loving with Chrissy and it is a joy to see them together. Emily is learning day by day to be gentle with her big sister and it is sweet to see them interact.
What a blessing and joy our children are!

WOW! Where do I start? It has been a while since I updated! Chrissy is almost six years old now. What an incredible journey she has had so far! She is happy, healthy, and now a Kindergartner! Chrissy attends school in an intensive needs classroom three days a week in the afternoons. We just returned from a family vacation to Hawaii, where Chrissy enjoyed sunbathing and getting her legs wet in the ocean! She had a great time!
Chrissy continues to be a joy and an inspiration to all who know and love her. When I think back to how we were told she would only live a few weeks, I am in awe of her courage and daily strength and her strong, loving, pure spirit. She brings us daily blessings, just by being here with us and sharing her sweet smile and coos! How fortunate we are to have this special little girl!!

Monday, June 13, 2005 6:57 PM CDT

Chrissy is now 4 1/2 years old. She is extremely healthy right now! She is enjoying school, riding horses in the local theraputic riding program, and Alaska seems to agree with her healthwise! She has a new pedicatrician and neurologist that we really like. As for new accomplishments, Chrissy is using her switches to make choices now, and we have started to work on the Intellikeys Computer Program to help her communicate her wants and needs. She is as happy and smiley as ever, and continues to be a joy to our family. She loves her brothers and sister, and coos and smiles at them when they interact with her. She especially loves it when her little brother Stephen, is loud near her, and will laugh at his antics. How blessed we are that Chrissy continues to be healthy and happy!

Saturday, February 19, 2005 7:21 PM CST

Chrissy continues to do very well. She had her VNS implant in October and it has made a lot of difference in her life. She has not had to have medication to stop a seizure since the implant. Though she continues to have occasional brief seizures, they do not interfere with her daily life and activities like they used to. We are very blessed that she is doing as well as she is!
Chrissy is on homebound school right now, and is enjoying the personal time she gets with Ms. Logan, her teacher, and her vision teacher, Ms. Bondstedt. She also has speech and PT every week and stays a very busy girl!
We are getting ready to make a family move at the end of March. For those of you who don't know yet, we are moving to Anchorage.AK for the next three years! We are all looking forward to this new experience. Chrissy has her parka and her new snow boots all ready to go!

Tuesday, November 2, 2004 10:36 AM CST

Chrissy is our special angel, with Schizencephaly, borderline Hydranencephaly. She is almost four years old. Though she has many challenges, Chrissy is doing extremely well. She is accomplishing things the doctor's said she never would!! Chrissy loves to play with her switch toys and is learning to communicate via computer at school. She smiles, laughs and coos with contentment. The Lord has blessed us greatly with such a strong, brave, precious child!
