CREATE A PEPPER AT CHILI'S TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD CANCER!!!!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Chili’s Grill & Bar® announced the kick-off of their fifth annual Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign. Now through September 30, Chili’s restaurants around the country and, for the first time, in Puerto Rico, are marking National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by inviting people to get creative and raise funds to help St. Jude find cures and save children with cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.
Guests at participating Chili’s restaurants can contribute to St. Jude in multiple ways:

- Make a donation to St. Jude and receive a Create-A-Pepper chili pepper coloring sheet designed for display at restaurants during the month.

- Purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts that can be customized with permanent marker.

- Buy a customized Create-A-Pepper key that can be cut for use at home or the office.

- Eat at Chili’s on Monday, Sept. 29, when Chili’s will donate 100 percent of profits from participating restaurant sales to St. Jude.

Visit www.createapepper.com and to make an online donation.

PASS IT AROUND!!!!

I'm signing in to visit Thomas Gray. Hope you're having a good week. Wish I could see you in person sometimes. I have a grandson your age who would love to come play with you. Tell your Mimi to think about that. Or, maybe when you all are in this area, we could get together for a picnic in the park. Either way, I don't mind driving to your town for a visit. Would love to see your baby brother. I'm sure he loves having a big brother like you!
Well, with luck I'll be able to view your photos. I'm kind of slow on the internet. Love, Ms Judy (Mimi, also)

Hello! I found your site through Skyler's guestbook. I wanted to stop in and visit. Our daughter was dx with Pre B ALL on April 04,2006. And we are close to your area---our hospital is in Chattanooga,TN.

I am so excited to hear that you are only three months away from the end of treatment. That is BIG news. Congrats!!

We are in the beginning of our protocol. (well, a few phases into it) BUT we look forward to the day that our chemo treatments end too! Woohoo!

We will stop by often and see how things are going.

Hello Ben, I have not visited your site in over a year and it looks like you are doing great with your treatment and now have a wonderful little sister! What a wonderful gift.

My little Sofia Maria just finished her ALL treatment on 12/22 and we just got her results from her spinal and bone marrow today...all clear! We have much to celebrate and be thankful for this Holiday and I wanted to pass this good news to your Mom and Dad as I know you are near the end of your treatment.

Have a wonderful, healthy and happy New Year!

I don't know if you remember me, but I also have a son fighting cancer (a brain tumor) and I also recently adopted from China. Congrats on your new daughter! I'm glad to hear she's doing well and EXTRA happy that Ben is doing well, too! I left the White Swan for home with our baby Marissa the day after you checked in! One of the teachers from my son's school in Indianapolis was also in your Bethany group adopting her daughter from Hunan province (small world!) I traveled with my mom while my husband and son stayed in Indy. I wish Ben continued success in his treatments - you go, Ben!!!

Hi. I found your caringbridge site through the China adoption stories site (kind of a round-about way!) We are also adopting from China - our LID is July 20, so we're not too far behind you. We also have a son with cancer (this is what caught my eyes about your site!) Our son is 6 years old and was diagnosed with a brain tumor just before his 4th birthday. He has been off treatment since May 2003 and is doing well. Good luck with Ben's treatments - he sounds like a real trooper!

Our son's story is on www.caringbridge.org/in/alex

Hi, guys. I have been keeping up on things via my sister and it's great that everything is going so well. I think you know that we are planning on seeing you in November. We are all excited about our trip next week and I have talked to Phyllis more in the last couple of weeks then in the preceeding two years.

Ben's progress is just spectacular. When the time is right I will carefully instruct him on the harrassing and teasing of younger sisters--a subject in which I have a PhD.

WOW! At my age it's difficult to handle so much important news at one time--even when its so GREAT. I am so happy about Ben's condition. As I said before, I don't understand much of the medical terminology, but it wasn't dfficult on this occassion to understand the bottom line. Wonderful is all I can say.

The news about the baby is also terrific. Although this makes me a grand uncle twice over, I am comforted by the huge age difference between my sister and me--i am a VERY young grand uncle. This is very exciting.

It appears my charming(?) brother uses my sweet grandsons Caringbridge space to compete with his much younger and lovelier sister. Sorry sweet Ben but I didn't get to choose your uncle as he was born much, much, much earlier than I. In spite of Uncle Steve's somewhat goofy appearance your great grandparents choose to try again - and thank goodness - had me!!!

I guess that I'm the only one who has the nerve to tell the truth. Ben looks as cute as he can be, but my sister---well, I'm not so sure. I guess I was the one in the family who got the looks. Hi Ben and Family!
Happy Holidays!
I'm Angel Gloria from Smile Quilts. I have been enjoying reading all about Ben and his adventures. What a lovable handful he must be Mom and Dad :)
We would love to make an online quilt for Ben with him especially in mind. If you'd like one made for him just click the above graphic link and it will take you to our home. There you will find lots of previously made quilts to look at as well as an application to have one made for Ben. I hope you decide to have it done for him.
In the meantime, I have bookmarked this website and have added Ben to my prayer list.
Again, have a wonderfully blessed Holiday Season!

Dear Jeff, Lorie, and Ben: We hope the next round of treatments will go as smoothly as possible for you two and Ben. "The Guys" are holding Ben's honorary card player's slot open until he's ready to play. By that time, he should easily win all of the hands, the rest of us will be pretty senile by then! All of us on this side of the country are really looking forward to seeing "Y'all" during your next visit out West.
Take care!'

Hello Yummy and parents!! It's great to hear of Ben's progress; his attitude and strength are inspirational to all who know his story, even those all the way on the other side of the country. It's also good to hear that Ben has such refined taste in cartoons (no doubt a reflection of his parenting), as Spongebob Squarepants is one of the most inspired bits of sillyness to come along in awhile. . . .a few more years and he'll be ready for the Simpsons!!

Much love to all of you!

Everybody sends their love to all of you. Lauren keeps asking when we are going to visit. I hope it will be soon. Take care and we'll talk to you soon.

Hi Ben,
My daughter, Sofia, was also diagnosed with the same little buggers in her blood at 20 months. She is 100 days into her 2 1/2 year treatment and is doing just great. I know you will too. She has her ups and downs like you - especially when she is on steroids. Now she is walking, running, laughing and being a two year old (her 2nd Bday is tomorrow!). You and Sofia are my heroes! Give your Mommy and Daddy a hug for being such great parents. I pray for remission forever for all of the ALL kids.

Sending positive thoughts and prayers to adorable Ben and his loving family... for a full, speedy and complete recovery! I had another friend whose daughter had leukemia (as a young child) and this healthy, smart girl is now in college studying to become a doctor!

Ben
I'm so happy to hear about your great progress at today's clinic visit. Just a week more of the steroids to go. I can only imagine how much better you'll feel once that medicine is stopped. I know mommy and daddy are also looking forward to that landmark. I love you and I miss you a lot. Baba will be there a few days after "day 28" and although I can't make this trip I'll see you soon.

Glad to hear all is going well. I am a friend from Virginia who has a 14 year old boy who is considered cured! He was 2 when diagnosed with ALL. I just received an email from your mother(inlaw)with this web site. This is such a great way to communicate with family and friends. Wish it was around when we were going through treatments! Our family will keep you in our prayers. Here is to celebrating with a really big party in 5 years!
