Hi There, I'm a long time visitor but I haven't signed before, know that you guys are in my prayers. I wanted you to know that my brother and I (28 and 30 y.o. who love video games) have not bought XBox 360 because most of the games for it are SO expensive and very violent. Halo is one of the worst as far as violence goes, and is DEFINATELY not appropriate for a 7 y.o. You might be better off getting or asking for a Nintendo Wii for Tyler, or sticking to a regular XBox. The Nintendo Wii is a TON of fun and has LOTS of games that are age appropriate for him and much more affordable!!

Hi, thinking about you and hoping you are having a good day. Mom, Halo 3 is a game rated "M" for maturity along the same line as an R rated movie. My 14y/o wants it and I asked him why it was an M (he is not allowed M games) and he said b/c you blow up people and their limbs fall off and there is a lot of blood. Not a good choice in my mind. Tissue loss resulting from cancer ablation, debridement of infected tissues, or secondary to trauma provides the surgeon with various reconstructive challenges. Defects of the head and neck may involve various tissues including skin, fascia, and bone. Although reconstruction of soft-tissue defects requires a fasciocutaneous or musculocutaneous flap, composite tissue loss that includes bone should be managed with a flap that contains vascularized bone. In the unusual case where only bone is missing, an osseus flap is needed to reconstruct the defect.

The fibula free flap provides a strong long segment of bone and can include a large fasciocutaneous component as well. As such, this versatile flap may be harvested as an osteocutaneous flap or a purely osseous flap. The pedicle runs the length of the fibula, with perforators extending to the skin paddle. It provides the longest segment of bone currently available for harvest; up to 26 cm can be taken without affecting leg function. A segment of bone is preserved distally and proximally to support the ankle and preserve the peroneal nerve, respectively.

Don't worry about that baloney that angelmommy24 and others like her send, because they don't even have a clue what they are talking about, or they wouldn't have opened their mouth in the first place. They mustn't know much about medical issues or they would know that it doesn't take much bone from a leg to reconstruct part of a jaw, and you can take pieces of a leg bone without it affecting the ability to walk. I guess she didn't take the time to check out all of the pictures of poor little Tyler after his surgery. She didn't have to sit with the poor little guy and watch him suffer endlesly. Did she, by any chance, even call his hospital room? No, not even that!!! Just accusations, like the trouble maker that she is!! Why is it that she doesn't even have the guts to show who she is on her profile then? What is she trying to hide? God HATES trouble makers, and believe me, her turn is coming!! How many other people does she do this to? There are many people who have followed Tyler through many of his surgeries, and believe me, they are on record!! You can't make that up!!! What is her problem? Is she a Doctor now? If she is, she's not a very good one, because she sure doesn't know much!! It takes brains and compassion and she has neither one of those. People, all I`m saying is, please be smart and disregard the rants of people who have nothing better to do with their day than to pick on little kids, especially very sick ones! God loves his little children, and he sure isn`t happy with the people who are causing these types of problems with his wonderful kids who are already having such problems to begin with. Tyler should be loved, prayed for, and helped with all that we have! What has this poor child ever done to her that she would pick on him like this? Darlene & Ashlie are a wonderful Christian family and they love the Lord with all of their hearts! I know that they will be Blessed for all that they have gone through, and that everything will work out for them. It's hard to imagine that someone who went thru that would have such a cold heart, and be able to say such things to break down your spirit. I think you shouldn't even read things from crazy people. I see you are getting lots and lots of them!! I was thinking about what Tyty is going thru, and as bad as it is, we still have him here. What a miracle he is-what a blessing. He's survived everything that's been thrown at him. I'm praying that each problem will be solved, and he will have a chance at a more normal life. We all have different levels of achievement, and all of us have things that hold us back from fulfilling all of our dreams. One Tyler is with groups that require a Doctors note that he does have what is wrong with him and is with prayer groups that I am in and he is real and does have problems health wise and there is nothing and any reason his family would lie about his condition. Hello--Tyler had his surgery yesterday. It was over 12 hours long, but our strong little guy made it thru. Both legs were operated on, and a bone placed in his jaw. Today there was bleeding in his face,and the skin graft failed and will have to be done again, so he's in surgery again right now. Please keep praying for Tyler. Darlene asked me to place a message on Tyler's care pages, but I can't figure it out, so I thought this is better than doing nothing at all, so that all of you who love Tyty will know what's going on.

Hi guys,
first off, please don't take this entry offensive WHATSOEVER, as my intentions would never, ever want to hurt you. I just have a question though. I saw on Tyler's main page that alveolar rhabdomysarcoma is considered the worst pediatric cancer ever. But I just wanted to ask who told you that? In my opinion, and many MANY other parents' who have lost their children to it, diffuse pontine gliomas are probably THE #1 worst pediatric cancer, as it has a near 0% survival rate, and the treatments don't even work towards a cure, just a temporary relief from symptoms and to extend life. Tyler is in complete remission, and hopefully, he'll stay that way and be cured. So anyway, I guess what i'm also getting at is to be thankful that, in my opinion, Tyler does NOT have the worst type of cancer, and that he has a fighting chance, and that you guys should be extremely thankful for all this. If he had been diagnosed with a pontine glioma around the time he was DX with rhabdo, i'm almost positive he wouldn't be here today.

Like i said, please PLEASE don't take this personally or get upset or send me harassing hate emails, I care about you guys more than anything, but I was just curious about where you heard that from, and why you would consider his type of rhabdo to be the worst ever, whereas a pontine glioma would almost guarantee him not even being here today and have NO chance of a cure.

Hi Darlene! I was just catching up on your Tylers guestbook, and I felt, as I was reading that lady Jean's comments, that you had been slapped in the face. I felt that you were being told off. That she was saying that you were out of line, asking for help. I disagree 100 percent with her. There are lots of good causes in this world-but how would we know about them if no one brings them to our attention. How would we know what they need if they don't tell us. We may read about a child, an adult, or an organization that needs help, and if we think it's a worthy cause, and if we are able to, our hearts move us to help. Her tone made me very sad and upset-all of us who know you, are aware that you have tried to get any help that is out there for Tyty. This is a very tough world, and there's alot less help for people facing long illnesses then we realise. What does this lady want you to do--just sit back, not say word, and when the date for the surgery comes have to tell Tyler forget it-there's no money??? Or we have no place to stay, so you can't be there with you-you will be alone??? Ridiculous.So,I say ignore this lady completely-you are doing what you need to do for the love of a sweet little boy. You are fighting for his life. Imagine where Tyler would be if you had no help from anyone-people are made in God's image-He is LOVE--He doesn't just have love-the Bible says He IS love!!!And He helps us thru other people-He uses us to bring help to others. That's a wonderful privilege He's given us. We want to help this little boy-Tyler is a GOOD cause.What we have to concentrate on is the fact that he's having a VERY serious surgery- one that we have been anxious about for a long time. We want to pray for him, and help in any way we can NOT because we are being FORCED to, but because we WANT to. I don't think you understand our situation at all. This baby we took into are family is our blood we can't just get rid of him. The fact that you said that sounds horrible. (we are not raising money for these babies) I'm sorry we don't just Get rid of our children that's not going to happen. As for getting help for Tyler we never raised much money for him, and every penny is used for going the MUSC expensing. I could understand if we where raising thousands of dollars, but that's not the case.

We are not greedy people, and that's not at all what we are trying to do. As for apply to American Cancer Society, and the RMH we have, and they do great things, but they can't offer you everything you may need. For one the RMH is not a enjoyable place for Tyler to stay at. (mainly due to the rules, and space they offer) Let me ask you this would you want you child upset after spending 10+ hours in MUSC? Something's are hard to understand if you had a child with cancer maybe you would understand why we want him to be happy. We have money coming out of our own pockets donations help, but we never raised a huge amount of money. I think you should think before you post something or at least read some of the history of Tyler so you can better understand where we are coming from.

I think you might be trying to help, but it's coming off offensive it sounds kind of rude the way your saying it.

I trying to help these children .if you don't have a child with cancer you can not know what we go through .also the American cancer has helped in the pass when Tyler was on treatment hes in remission.but he has a lot of bad things wrong that the cancer did to him .we havnt had any benefits to bring in a lot of money .we just had people that love and care about tyler and want to help him and want to help

Is the new baby a foster child? Do you get money for this child? Maybe you should have this child go to another foster home while you are in Charleston. Or, perhaps respite care? You would then have one less person to worry about.

As for the one-year-old, why don't you look after the baby while your daughter looks after Tyler and vice versa. If you do this then you won't need child care. Most families that I read about with two caregivers switch off caring for the sick child and the well child. You will be unlikely to find a child care facility willing to do weekend and evening/night hours.

Have you tried applying to the American Cancer Society for funds for travel to medical visits? How about staying in a Ronald Mcdonald House instead of a motor home? Won't you have to pay campsite fees in addition to many tanks of gas for a camper?

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think you might want to look in to all your options before requesting money on your website.

I just want you all to know that you are in my prayers and though I can't help financially, I WILL pray that God takes the resources you DO have and stretches them just as He did when the crowd that followed Him needed food and He fed 4000 with 7 loaves of bread and many other things He did. God doesn't change. When I was only 5 and my brothers were 4 and 11, our Daddy was gone and we didn't know where he was or even if he was alive or dead. Momma who has been a Christian for as long as I can remember, always told us that if we had peanut butter and bread in the house not to say we had nothing to eat. Well, one Sunday it was time for supper and we had nothing to eat but we told noone. Momma was to get paid the next morning. Momma told us to come to the table and we did. She said to say the blessing and my 4 year old brother said, "but Mommy, we don't have anything to eat". Momma put her faith on the line and said it was alright and to just say the blessing. So we did and we had no sooner said AMEN when there was a knock at the door. There were 3 women we had never seen before and never saw again (I KNOW they were angels!) with a box of hot fully prepared food . . . ready to set on the table and eat . . . from rolls and chicken down to even an apple pie for desert. There was just enough for the one meal. God supplied our needs then and He doesn't change or have respect of persons so I KNOW He will take care of you. He will send what you need when you need it. He is never late! He is an ontime God! May God bless you and your precious little boy! We all love you.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the Ice-cream Truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take you to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle besides you for hours, and miss my favorite T.V. show.
Just for this evening, when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray. I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about mothers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms and mothers who are in the hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and scream inside that they can't handle it anymore, and when I kiss you goodnight, I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then I will thank God for you and ask him for nothing,

Ty ty, Its ur angle holly. God is takign good care of you i know ur going threw alot but its because he knows u can handle it and Drs are learnign from u they learned from doing thiings to me when i was 7 and My radiation dr told me they learned from me and thats why more kids with our type of cancer are alive today. Its hard but see i did it and i know u can do it. I love u little man i go in for JAW surgery May 3 at MUSC dr Tabor is doing it. So keep me in ur prayers as well im kinda scared but i know everythiign will be just fine. I love u little man and im glad i met u cause we have each other.

Hi Tyler, I just read about you on the Hugs and Hope newsletter and wanted to tell you to stay strong and to keep fighting. My 16 year old son was diagnosed with Stage III Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma in July of 2005. He has been in remission since May of 2006 and has been doing pretty good. hi there little tyler hope you are feeling a bitbetter i foundyour site through another caringbridge site my daughter has a site also she is 5 yr and has been fighting for her life since birth she ws born with digeorge syndrome and has had many setbacks her most recent one was a tumor removed from her muscle in her left cheeckbone which was causing her major problems in her right eye she had this removed right before christmas that was scary she has a gtube and cleft paalate and a bleedign disorder also you can read about her by visiting her site also please let us know how you are making out. she just got over phneumonia 2 wks after her tumor was removed we found out it was begnign for now and just have tokeep her healthy. well goodnight for now will be checkingi n on you. get well soon.

Please trust that the Lord is watching over Tyler and that the doctors will provide the best possible care for his treatment. I am praying that God will sustain you as you continue this long journey to a cure for Tyler's jaw problem. May God guide the Doctor's minds and hands so that the right thing will be done for Tyler. Just take it one procedure at a time and trust in the Lord. He has His hand on the situation.

I mailed something to Tyler today. It should arrive the first of the week.
