Hello, katie. My baby girl has stage 3 NB too. Going for surgery this month end. I know how much you have been through. But hang there for there are many people who love and care about you around the world. Just curious, how come the relapse only detected in 2006 when it was more than 5 years EFS since discharged at 2000? I always thought if 5 years EFS, it should be consider 100% cured. Feel free to stay in contact through email patchialim@hotmail.com

If anyone has trouble getting to Katies new CB site, change the VISIT to small letters.
Not this:
www.caringbridge.org/VISIT/katiekrize

Instead try this:
www.caringbridge.org/visit/katiekrize

It worked for me after I got rid of the capital letters.

Hi Krize family! Just wanted to let Katie in particular know (I don't know if she knows this or not), that there are two websites for teens who have cancer. They can chat and relate to each other. There are some teens with neuroblastoma on there too. One was diagnosed at 5, like Katie. The website that more kids post on is
teenslivingwithcancer.com

and the other one that doesn't get as many posts is

grouploop.org

I hope Katie enjoys this!
Katie - by the way your earrings look BEAUTIFUL!

Katie looks SO beautiful! She looks beautiful both ways, but in my opinion, she looks even more beautiful without her wig! What does Katie think of the snow? Praying that this trial brings her into remission! I have a daughter her age and she has a myspace. Does Katie have anything like that (myspace, facebook, etc)? Does she use the computer?

So glad that things have been great in Vermont! Just a helpful hint--when you are picking out your first pair of earrings, remember to tell Mom and Dad that diamonds are a girl's best friend. Diamond stud earrings do match everything!

Hey! I am SO excited because I found Katie's caringbridge page(thanks to Dr. Kristi Rollins) AND read the wonderful news. See, Michelle! I told you to keep on doing what you were doing. Chemotherapy and Radiation can do amazing things, but I believe love and perseverance can play a huge part in that as well. Katie is a lucky girl!
Katie, we miss your smiling face around here, but we will share you with the medical professionals in Vermont for a little while. Just don't get too comfortable!

Hi Katie and Krize Family,
This is Michael DeMaggio's Memaw & Papaw in Alabama. We just got an update on you from Michael and his Mother & Dad. Sounds like you are sailing along on your treatments, and having some fun too!
The earrings are beautiful, just like you are!!
Hope you enjoy them. Also hope you are enjoying Vermont?!
You are such an inspiration to us girl! Michael's Papaw B. starts his treatments today in a clinic about 100 miles south of here. We will be staying there 5 days a week, and home on the weekends! He says you are such a brave girl, and if you can go through so much, then he thinks he can too!! God is in control, and will see you both through this time. He says tell you that he will be helping you to kick the Cancer's (bootie) Backside!!
Take care sweet girl, and God Bless you and your Family. Many prayers coming your way.

Katie, I bet you are so excited about having your ears pierced. I remember when I had my ears pierced except no one anesthesized me and, even worse, I did it myself. I hung clothespins on my ears for an hour to move the inner skin out of the way and that really hurt. Then I jammed a needle through them. Not very smart I must admit. But they were pierced and then you get to pick out all kinds of earrings for yourself. Fun, Fun, Fun.

The students that took the baby were in class with me the last two days. We had a Baby sharing party yesterday. Today we cleaned in the kitchens and ate popcorn. The other students have been in the media center preparing projects to present tomorrow.

We are pulling for you. Hope you had fun at the Teddy Bear factory. You didn't invite us so we didn't come. Katie, I want you to visualize Christ standing beside you and pulling for you. He loves you that much. I know you know that. You are terrific. You are loved. You are special.

Michelle,
I am so glad to hear that all is well. I just spoke to Rourke and he and Eden will be heading to Vermont soon as long as all goes well for the next week or so. Maybe you'll finally get to meet my princess.
I hope things go well and that Katie gets some pretty, shiny earrings to go with her beautiful bright smile! We did Eden's ear piercing during treatment, the docs were concerned because she was on antibiotics to prevent infections anyway.
I hope all is well and pray for you all daily. Wishing the best..

Gee - Did you clarify that you are NOT inpatient just for me ???!!!! It was so good to talk/laugh with you guys yesterday while you were enroute ... STOWE sounds like a great place to live. : ) Keeping our fingers crossed for your Phase II approval ... all I know is, I pity the person on the other end of the phone if you have to make a phonecall to get Tricare's approval. THAT would be an ugly call ! You're always in our prayers ... Beanie & Crew.

I've wondered about those "bohemians " too! I hope they are here legally. We need to change Katies name to "Sparkle Plenty", Katie definately has an uplifting personality that has a positive affect on everyone she meets. How cool that lady recognized and told you that on the plane. I had no idea Mike was such a weenie........does he not know how great snow feels sliding down ones back? I will hope for success today. Love your updates....enjoy Vermont.it is a beautiful state.

I really don't mind flying..........it's the take-off and the landing that bug me!! Even with that though, I still do it....I figure it's just the best (and quickest) way to get where I want or need to be. When I was in school in Charleston, I had a friend from Vermont. She always talked about how wonderful it was there. I've never been so I look forward to your "southern-girl-goes-to-Vermont" report. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers. Take care, Phyllis

Katie and family, I've been keeping up with the posts and am continuing to remember all of you in my daily prayers. Katie, I think about you all the time! You are my inspiration when I start concentrating on me and my problems too much. My inspiration to remember that God is in control and nothing happens without his ok! Good or bad! Just remember that you will be missed next week as we go back to school and many prayers are being sent your way! Keep that smile! I can't wait to see it!

Katie and Company,
I'll bet the fear will disappear once you get to hang with Dr Scholler. She is so sweet and cool as can be. Take the WII and I'll bet she'll play and you can embarrass her! She's a kind lady and I have heard AMAZING things about how well you are treated while in Vermont.
I hope you have a good flight and get started on a miracle.

Hi Katie and the Krize Family,

You know I'm pretty good at the Wii!! I bought my husband one last Christmas (06) and have practiced for quite a while! We'll have to get together and play it sometime!!

You need to ask Elizabeth Short about our plane trip to El Paso, TX for the COCA Conference. She was so funny!! She had never flown before... and I had to sit next to her! She was a mess!! Ms. Jeanne and some others from Camp Kemo had a blast watching her!!

The trip to Vermont won't be so bad!! Just think of it as yet another adventure in KATIE'S WORLD!! Stay strong girl!!

As always, I'm thinking about you all!!

Love,
Rachel

Katie,
I'm sure you will love flying. Hopefully you'll sit by the window so you can watch everything. Sometimes your ears get stopped up and the best thing for that is to chew on some gum (make sure it's ok with your Mom and Dad). If that doesn't work you can pinch your nose and blow. Other than that, it's really alot of fun. Vermont is beautiful, although I have only been in the summer. I'm sure it will be all white with snow!!! I hope we get to see some pictures!! Don't forget to take your kaleidoscope with you (FROG). It will be especially helpful if you have any "layovers" in airports. Take care, Nancy Windham

Katie, once you fly to Vermont, you'll never want to drive anywhere, ever again! Soon, like the Diva you are, you will request your own private jet with Wii! And of course, Vermont is sooooo beautiful! It's like out of a dream... winter in Vermont is so cool and pretty. We just know you're going to out fox with Nifurtimox! Try not to drive the person next to you on the plane too crazy! And Happy New Year to you and your entire family and all of your friends!!

Katie, you crack me up. You take on cancer with no fear, but you're nervous about flying? You guys are going to LOVE Burlington, Vermont. I've been there twice and it is a very charming town. Things to do in Burlington: Take a boat ride on Lake Champlain, they have some great dinner cruises. Check out Shelburne Farms - the restaurant is amazing (but expensive, but would make for a great date night). Check out the diner right by the airport, it is an original diner, with original decor, and probably just as inexpensive as the day it opened - and the food is great. Can you tell all I did was eat when I was there?! Have fun. I am praying for good news. I can't wait for the lock-in - see you then! Don't forget to wear all black for Capture the Flag Katie!!!

So I'm thinking that when you get back from Vermont maybe you can go to Asheville again and we will get tickets to the Biltmore so you can do more than drive by.
I wish I could come up with something to make flying to Vermont sound like fun. How about flying is really fun and Vermont should really be amazing this time of year with all the snow. That part of the country knows how to do winter.
I am sure that you will charm the entire staff and make many new friends. Please keep in touch. Asheville was so much fun. Dinner was a blast and I want to do something like that again soon. Let me tell you after a couple of days with my family it was fun to crazy with y'all. Love to all, Pat

Hi Katie and family,

I hear Vermont in the winter is simply gorgeous!! In PA we recently had a snowfall of just a couple inches and every single tiny branch was covered in diamonds of snow and frost. It was breathtaking and a true gift from God. Fly and enjoy the trip in the air as you look over the countryside and see how gorgeous it is. Happy New Year Krize Family and a very special Happy New Year to my beautiful, strong and brave goddaughter. Katie I need you to know that when I went through my surgery and they had to shave some of my hair to remove my tumor and I wasn't quite sure what the outcome would be, what kept me going most of all was you and your strength. When I first discovered that I had a tumor on my brain and tried to get discouraged or depressed I thought about you and how strong you are and it gave me the strength that I needed to make it through. You are still and always will be my inspiration, my Shero and the love of my life. God has amazing things for you to do because you are an amazing young lady who brings nothing but joy to everyone lives. I love you sweetie and will see you soon. I started to act like you at times in the hospital (you know you can get a little difficult - just a wee bit) and then I would think what would Katie tell me and I could hear your voice saying behave Godmommy. To my dear and wonderful friend Michele, this is going to be wonderful year for your family, I feel it, I prayed about it and I know it. You are one tough sistah and words can never began to express how much you all mean to me. And to all of those Prayer Warriors out there, THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINOUS PRAYERS FOR THE KRIZE FAMILY, because truly the prayers of the righteous always avails much. Happy New Year everyone and God Bless!
