Dear Scott Family,

I am sorry I have not been able to return to this book earlier, but I have been thinking of you and of Alex often during this Holy Week.

God bless you always.

Almighty God, we pray you graciously to behold this your family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Today's Collect:

Almighty God, who through your only-begotten Son Jesus Christ overcame death and opened to us the gate of everlasting life: Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of the Lord's resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Jesus Christ is risen today, Alleluia!
our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!
who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!
suffer to redeem our loss. Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!
unto Christ, our heavenly King, Alleluia!
who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!
sinners to redeem and save. Alleluia!

But the pains which he endured, Alleluia!
our salvation have procured, Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!

The pictures of Alex are beautiful. Even when she was so thin and frail she's still smiling. What a beautiful angel. OMG it breaks my heart reading this story. There were so many people that loved your little girl and never even knew her. She had the heart of an Angel. May she always be with you in spirit. When you feel the breeze on the side of your face, thats her sending you angel kisses.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all..

Happy Labor Day Weekend To All!

Dear Liz, Jay, Patrick, Eddie, and Joey,

This Labor Day Weekend, our family thinks of all of our military personnel, our police and fire fighters, our teachers and farmers, our doctors and dentists, and all who work nobly for the public good and the independence and prosperity of their families. May God bless them all.

Alex was remembered, in Holy Eucharist, Saturday afternoon. She will always hold a place in my prayer life.

May God nourish you with all good things, especially hope.

Grace, peace, love, and all good,

~Colette

The Weekend Collect:

Dear Alex's Mommy and Daddy and brothers,
I just heard all about Alex and am very, very sad. I'm Braden and I live in Colorado. I'm 5 years old and my brother's name is Alex too. It would have been great to meet Alex. I saw her picture and she looks so sweet. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Although Alex's time here with you was short, it was a very meaningful journey she enjoyed. She has left behind a legacy that will live on and bring hope and inspiration to all she has touched. Our precious child, Natalie, had the same journey and lived for three years with neuroblastoma - we have survived her loss now for 20 years but have never forgotten anything she has given us. You will endure your lives with the memories you have of Alex and of the ways she has touched so many. God bless you all.

To Alex's Family;

I am having a hard time typing as my teardrops hit the keyboard, we just came back from DCH in Portland, OR. Where we lived when my son was first diagnosed with High Grade Osteosarcoma 1-2006. Today we just found out that his Osteo has came back in his lungs. I had many opinions and they all said the same recurrence, relapse...the two words no parent wants to hear. My son was then given the opportunity to do a clinical trial...THANK YOU ALEX! I know you can hear me, thank you our lil' warrior friend. I hope this helps get closer to a cure from this terrible enemy we call cancer. I will leave Shane's site I just started Feb. 2008 www.caringbridge.org/visit/1shane.

ALEX THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL THE WORK YOU ARE DOING UP THERE AND DOWN HERE WE LOVE YOU!

Dear Scott Family,

We had the reading of the Passion, at Saturday afternoon Eucharist today, and it will be done again, tomorrow, at all of the services. It is always such a solemn, reverent occasion.

My thoughts are with you tonight, and I will remember Alex, and think of you all, throughout Holy Week.

Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

To the Scott Family,

Although too young to be a parent I know the pain of losing a loved one to cancer. My name is Ryan Tucker and I am 22. I have a lot of friends who have cancer and cancer related illnesses. Most are still with us and some have passed. I cant begin to imagine what you endure each day eventhough it has been 3 years since Alex's passing. I had heard of Alex and her heroic story from my now 9 year old cousin. She was part of one of the many lemonade stands in Alex's honor, one of the ones held shortly before Alexs untimely departure from Earth. I want you to know that since that day that I saw how much heart and soul my cousin put into that one day she helped out at the lemonade stand I have always thought of Alex and you and your family. I plan on holding a charity concert/lemonade stand event sometime in spring 2008 to benefit the Lemonade Stand Foundation. I will make sure that the memory of Alex and her dream is at the forefront of the event. Take care and Blessed Be! I hope that sometime in the future I might have the honor of meeting you both.

Happy Labor Day, Scott Family!

I have just had an email from my cousin, Jennifer, who has two little boys. Liam, a new age five, called it "Pregnancy Day," so they have had a discussion of the various meanings of "labor" this morning, before heading out to the parade.

I hope, that whatever plans you have for today, you have a positive day, full of good memories of Alex and of the hope of heaven.

Grace, peace, love, and all good,

~Colette

Collect For Labor Day:

Almighty God, you have so linked our lives one with another that all we do affects, for good or ill, all other lives: So guide us in the work we do, that we may do it not for self alone, but for the common good; and, as we seek a proper return for our own labor, make us mindful of the rightful aspirations of other workers, and arouse our concern for those who are out of work; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Like so many others, I saw Alex's story on TV. It pulled on my heart strings and I never forget about her. I never imagined that one day I would be staring childhood cancer in the face. After all, cancer is something that happens to someone else. Right! On April 13, 2007, my three year old nephew, Lucas Stevens was diagnoses with Biphenotypic Leukemia (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia AND Acute Myeloid Leukemia. That first night in the hospital, I couldn't stop thinking about Alex's story. My 11 year old son and I quickly organized a fund raiser and collected $1550. for Luke. My heart goes out to you, but I hope it brings you some peace that Alex's continues to inspire many people. I admire what you do and sincerely hope Alex's dream of finding a cure will come true soon. I have read many carepages and there are too many children facing this dreaded disease. I found Alex's today and plan to visit the lemonade stand website for more information on ways to help.

Today, Patti Spears from WalMart passed the copy of "Alex and the Amazing Lemonade Stand" on to us for our daughter, Deanna. As you know, she, too, is fighting Neuroblastoma.
I do not remember hearing of Alex prior to his, but now since reading the websites, I must say that she was and continues to be a supreme inspiration. The outpouring of love and support that Deanna has been shown from family, friends, and the community has been overwhelming, and I hope someday to be able to pay-it-forward, so to speak.

Most days I can take things as they come because Deanna is a very happy kid, even during chemo - when she's happy, I'm happy. It's like "what cancer?" But my emotions start swirling each time I hear of a case like this, where a child was diagnosed young, (even younger than Deanna who was 14 months at the time of diagnosis) yet still loses the battle. It scares me to no end, and I am always curious of the circumstances and details.
We are extremely thankful and lucky that Deanna's tumor grew where it did so that it affected her leg and we knew there was a problem before the cancer had spread. We are also very lucky that she does not have the myc-n gene that amplifies the condition.
I only wish that there was more out there, on the web, talking about long-term survival of kids with this type of cancer. Unfortunately, every time I go looking, I only find stories like your daughter's....beautiful, brave angels who eventually lose the fight.

Your continued work to raise money for cancer research is amazing, and I whole-heartedly thank you for the book, and making us aware.

God bless you and your family,

Your Alex made her mark on my life several years ago when I saw her on tv. I remember thinking how horrendous it would be to have a child battling cancer.

Today, I know the horrific roller coaster that a cancer diagnosis brings. You see, our son, Jarrett was diagnosed with melanoma at 13. We were told he was going to be just fine....95% survival rate....

16 months ago--Jarrett died. He had just turned seventeen. Jarrett, the high school quarterback, the point guard, the left fielder drove his truck, hung out with his friends and insisted that he was going to be "fine" until ten days before he died. He wasn't a cancer victim. Like Alex, Jarrett was a cancer hero.

I have carried your daughter's story with me for a long time. Tonight, I wanted to introduce you to the story of Jarrett Boston.

I wish you days of even and moments of happiness,

I remember when Alex's Lemonade stands were first introduced. Unfortunately, i didn't see much of it afterwards and truthfully didn't think about it as I got so wrapped up in my own personal life. I just saw a new story titled "Alex's Lemonade still around". I went onto your website and read all the entries. I have a daughter who is 6. I could not bear the thought of something happening to her and no one helping. A sudden feeling of guilt came over me for not doing more for our children. I am dedicating myself to the cause and will do whatever I can to get Alex's message out there. She was a beautiful little girl. Thank you Alex for making people aware.

Blessings On Easter Morning!

"Welcome, happy morning!"
age to age shall say:
hell today is vanquished,
heaven is won today!
Lo! the dead is living,
God for evermore!
Him their true Creator,
all his works adore!

Refrain:
"Welcome, happy morning!" age to age shall say.

Earth her joy confesses,
clothing her for spring,
all fresh gifts return
with her returning King:
bloom in every meadow,
leaves on every bough,
speak his sorrow ended,
hail his triumph now.

Months in due succession,
days of lengthening light,
hours and passing moments
praise thee in their flight.
Brightness of the morning,
sky and fields and sea,
Vanquisher of darkness,
bring their praise to thee.

Maker and Redeemer,
life and health of all,
thou from heaven beholding
human nature's fall,
of the Father's Godhead
true and only Son,
mankind to deliver,
manhood didst put on.

Thou, of life the Author,
death didst undergo,
tread the path of darkness,
saving strength to show;
come then, true and faithful,
now fulfill thy word,
'tis thine own third morning!
rise, O buried Lord!

Loose the souls long prisoned,
bound with Satan's chain;
all that now is fallen
raise to life again;
show thy face in brightness,
bid the nations see;
bring again our daylight:
day returns with thee!

Its not being sent to my parents so dear,
For they are still with me each day of the year;
Its being sent to my child...who left earth so soon,
Who's now in the Heavens with the stars and the moon.

The message is the same as your valentine,
"I love you...my sweet precious child of mine;
My love is still deeper than the ocean is blue,
And its sent with hugs and kisses...from me to you."

"I know you are with me each and every day,
You listen as I talk to you...and hear what I say;
For that is one thing that disease cannot do...
...you'll always be apart of me...and me a part of you."

"I know God did not give you the awful disease,
Thank Him for His comfort He gives me...would you please?
I dont know what I would do without His undying love...
Sent to bereaved parents from the Heavens above."

"I know you are in the best of care,
But it's so hard for us left on earth to bear;
Could you put in a request from us left behind...
For God to send the knowledge..so a cure we can find."

"So that no other family has to go through this pain,
Our lives without you will never be the same;
When I get lonely I will look to the sky at night...
And see you shining down your big bright light."

Dear Liz and Family,

Alex is not forgotten. I often remember her beneath the Jesus and the Children stained glass window, in our church, and I am sure those who personally knew her think of her on a very regular basis. God bless her sweet spirit.

I hope you, Jay, and the boys are all well and that 2007 is a year of grace, hope, healing, and peace for all of you.

God bless you all, and God bless all of Alex's classmates and friends.

Grace, peace, love, and all good,

~Colette~

I see the countless Christmas trees around the world below
with tiny lights like heaven's stars reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular please wipe away that tear
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs that people hold so dear
but the sound of music can't compare with the Christmas choir up here.

I have no words to tell you of the joy their voices bring
for it is beyond description to hear the angels sing.

I know how much you miss me, I see the pain inside your heart
for I am spending Christmas with Jesus Christ this year.

I can't tell you of the splendor or the peace here in this place
Can you just imagine Christmas with our Savior face to face?

I'll ask him to lift your spirit as I tell him of your love
so then pray for one another as you lift your eyes above.

Please let your hearts be joyful and let your spirit sing
for I am spending Christmas in heaven and I'm walking with the King.

About two years ago, I was interning at a cumulus radio station in Harrisburg, and that was the first time I came across Alex's Lemonade Stand. I believe some of the stations were helping to promote some sort of walk in Harrisburg in honor of Alex and to raise money for childhood cancer. But it was not until recently I became increasingly interested in it. I go to HACC and I am in the process of wrapping up a service learning project. We could have chose anything we wanted to help support, but after researching about Alex, there was no other cause I would rather support. So me and my group held a lemonade stand in honor of Alex at the HACC campus 3 different times. I would simply like to say, from what I have read about Alex and her determination, that she has rather inspired me. I would just like to thank her and her family for continuing such a wonderful cause. I plan on helping again the near future.

Hello,
I wanted to let you know our daughter, Elizabeth Garey, successfully honored Lana Beth Webster with an "Alex Lemonade Stand" at a Boyd-Buchanan School homecoming football game in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was able to raise $800.00 in her honor to go towards research. Thank you for having such a great idea to help honor children with this terrible disease. My prayers and praises go out to you. Thank you for sharing Alex with others. She looks like a beautiful child. Thinking of you, Kim Garey

Hello, Renee. I am praying for you! I was so shocked when Lee called to tell us the news.

I called Joel this morning - he probably told you already that we talked. You have such a great family!!

Bob and I wish we were closer so we could come see you, but I'll bet the hospital has told you there isn't enough room for all your visitors!!

We are thinking about you and praying for your speedy recovery to good health!!

I saw Alex's story on tv. A child at our school was diagnosed with a brain tumor last summer, she is in remission now and had raised enough money to build Elizabeth's corner at the Siteman Cancer Center in Saint Louis. I am a leader of a Brownie Troop at her school and would love to do a Lemonaide stand dedicated to her!!!!

I can't believe it's been 2 years since your baby passed... I'm so sorry.

My daughter saw some of the 76'ers on Thursday. She was given a book with all their stats & stuff in it. There was a picture of Alex in it recieving something at Center Court. I showed them that that's Alex from the Lemonade Stand. They all wanted to see the picture. When they see a lemonade stand they want to buy lemonade to support Alex's cause.

It's incredible how you are carring on Alex's Legacy. She will NEVER be forgotten.

Dear Liz, Jay, Patrick, Eddie, and Joey,

I have though of Alex often in the last months. I am sorry I haven't signed her guest book, but I often remember her in Eucharist, at St. George's. May God bless her sweet spirit!

Thank you for posting the picture of her burial plot and the information about the lemonade stand earnings. Alex's legacy is outstanding!

During pre-Lent and Lent, I invited others to join me in praying regularly for advances in cancer prevention, cure, and patient care. I hope those reading this note will pause, right now, at their computers, and pray a prayer of thanksgiving for Alex's life and an earnest petition for medical breakthroughs. (I just did.)

God bless you all during this holy and life giving season of Easter!

Grace, peace, love, and all good,

~Colette~

The Collect For The Saturday In Holy Week:

We thank you, heavenly Father, that you have delivered us from the dominion of sin and death and brought us into the Kingdom of your Son; and we pray that, as by his death he has recalled us to life, so by his love he may raise us to eternal joys; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Hi Liz and family. I spoke to you today and was so encouraged by you. Some days it is very hard to stay in the world of childhood cancer but what keeps me going (apart from my wonderful husband and Killian's amazing brothers) is the joy in believing that we really can make a difference for all the other children out there who are still suffering from this ugly disease. My own version of Killian's story is at www.caringbridge.org/ga/killianowen if you would like to read it. With love and blessings, Grainne Owen - Killian's mom.
