CREATE A PEPPER AT CHILI'S TO FIGHT CHILDHOOD CANCER!!!!

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Chili’s Grill & Bar® announced the kick-off of their fifth annual Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer campaign. Now through September 30, Chili’s restaurants around the country and, for the first time, in Puerto Rico, are marking National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month by inviting people to get creative and raise funds to help St. Jude find cures and save children with cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.
Guests at participating Chili’s restaurants can contribute to St. Jude in multiple ways:

- Make a donation to St. Jude and receive a Create-A-Pepper chili pepper coloring sheet designed for display at restaurants during the month.

- Purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts that can be customized with permanent marker.

- Buy a customized Create-A-Pepper key that can be cut for use at home or the office.

- Eat at Chili’s on Monday, Sept. 29, when Chili’s will donate 100 percent of profits from participating restaurant sales to St. Jude.

Visit www.createapepper.com and to make an online donation.

PASS IT AROUND!!!!

GET YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY TOGETHER!!! TRUST ME ITS SUCH AN AMAZING CAUSE :)

Hi Amanda,
My 14 year old also named Amanda was diagnosed with a GBM brain tumor in Oct. 2007, this is rare in teens. She has and is undergoing treatment. So far 3 clean MRI.s. Congrats on yours!!! You are strong just like her! It has been a long rough road so far for her and somedays she feels all alone. I can only thank God for all the good stuff and tell her that it will get better!!

Dear Amanda and Family.. I wish had known about this website but I just now came across it. Oddly enough, it was a link in my own website dedicated to my son Matthew, who was also diagnosed with choriod plexus carcinoma in 1998. A friend of mine made his website for me, and added the link in there. Im glad i have found it, and wanted you to know..that I am keeping you in my prayers.I never thought id find another with the same type,as it was very rare. My heart goes out to you and your family for all your going through. I hope you get nothing but good news from here on out. Stay strong and know that their are others out there praying for you and wishing you nothing but the best.

From the perspective of a total stranger, you have an awesome charisma about you as you take in stride all the medical problems you've faced in your young life. In spite of your medical history and the uncertainties as you look to the future, you present as a calm, comical, engaging person who's fun and very pleasant to be around. Hip hop, hippety hop
My “Easter Bunny” went off to the shop,
He bought me an egg and lots of chocs
And packed them into a cardboard box.
Then he wrapped it with paper and shiny string
It really was such a pretty thing.
Disaster struck when I opened the door-
He slid across the parquet floor,
He went round the corner and past the stairs
And finished up in a pile of chairs.
Of the Easter goodies not a trace,
he’d thrown them into my fireplace!
So a warning before you go opening doors
Make sure your “Bunny” has non-slip paws!

Happy Easter

With lots of love,

Everyone at Post Pals

Well done on graduating Amanda. You must have worked really hard. My son Michael is now back at school after his treatment for CPC. He is in Primary 5, he is stuggling a bit but is really determined. He has an Additional Needs Assistant who does a lot of the writing for him because he is quite slow at handwriting. I hope when he is your age he will have done as well as you have.

Hi Amanda!
I just stopped here at your webpage, I'm glad things are looking good for you. We will pray for you and your familiy. My stepdaughter Stacia was diagnosed with a rare tumor this past January 05, an anaplastic ganglioglioma. We went through Chemo and radiation but it didn't seem to help. Now we had to make this big desicion, having a operation on may 31. It is very risky bacause of the location of the tumor. Stacia would like to talk to someone that went through the same thing and when I found your website we read through your journal. Stacia is also a patient at Children's hospital and had radiation at James. Here is her website, stop by sometime!!!! http://www3.caringbridge.org/oh/stacia/

Hi Amanda

My son was diagnosed with a choroid plexus in Nov 2003. He had 8 months of chemo then a total resection, then 35 treatments of radiotherapy. During this past week he has been suffering from 'auras'. Strange sensation and strange smell. He goes very vacant and very white. He had these symptoms when we discovered the tumour. Today he has had them about four times. I try to tell myself it is just his brain getting back to normal but I am worried it might be the tumour returning. Did you ever get any of these symptoms before or after surgery?

I check your page most days. You are a beautiful girl and I hope you continue to have clear scans and a great life.

God Made You For A Reason

When I look upon my screen
I find a happy reason
the joy that comes to me from you
is gratitude so very pleasing...

What a wonderful creator
that made a friend like you,
He placed a sweet kind person
and gave me lots of comfort too.

A world without your kindness
would be a sad sad world.

But I don't have to worry,
there's no need to be,
because of you I am very happy,
and that's good enough for me.

I've found great people everywhere,
they come into my life.
Just like you, all those others too,
have given me delight.

So I thank God I met you,
I thank him for all seasons.
Now I know for sure with all my heart,
GOD Created YOU for a reason.

A PRAYER FOR CHRISTMAS

God Give Us eyes this Christmas
To see the Christmas Star.
And give us ears to hear the song
of angels from afar

And, with our eyes and ears attuned
for a message from above,
Let "Christmas Angels" speak to us
of hope and faith and love

Hope to light our pathway
When the way ahead is dark,
Hope to sing through stormy days,
with the sweetness of the lark

Faith to trust in things unseen
and know beyond all seeing
That it is in our Fathers love
We live and have our being

And love to break down barriers
of color, race and creed,
Love to see and understand
and help all those in need.

Lord, bless those we love this Christmas Day,be they near or far away Bless those good friends who mean so much and those with whom we're out of touch. We bring them all to You in prayer, and ask You to keep them in Your care.

Please know that you are thought of, in a very special way, not just this beautiful season but every day.

I wish for you the Christmas joy
That comes to hearts of a girl and a boy
Carefree days of winter play
Snowball fights and a ride in a sleigh
Frolicking puppies and mischievous kittens
A warm winter jacket and colorful mittens
Peaceful cattle on a hill
Snow covered nights when stars stand still
Peace in your heart from up above
Wrapped in God's Spirit and tied up with love
My wish for you is Christmas joy
The kind that's meant for a girl and a boy.

I had originally planned to visit as many caringbridge sites as possible, and leave some encouraging words, prior to my daughters passing. Unfortunately her passing came sooner than we had expected, but longer than any of her doctors expected.

Another angel takes flight.

My daughter Pam had a brain tumor and was fighting the fight since November 4th, 2002, after the birth of her daughter (Casey Morgan). My youngest daughter, Karen, set up a caringbridge website for Pam. Karen's friends mother shared a prayer with us, that I would like to share with you and AJ. It's called DON'T QUIT:
Don't Quit -
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit - Rest if you must, but do not quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a fellow turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.(Just call on Jesus).

I would also like to share a saying that was on the card my wife Diane picked out, and we bought for Pam:

If you were a star
That wasn’t expected back
In the universe
For a thousand years,
I’d wait.

If you were the sky
And everyone went inside
When you got sad
And started to rain,
I’d stay.

And if you were a peach
And the world decided to get rid of all peaches,
I’d pick you up,
Put you in my pocket…

AND KEEP YOU……..FOREVER.

Prayers have scientifically been proven to work.

REMEMBER NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT. You are in our prayers. GOD bless you all.

AJ just stopped in to read your web pages. I offer a prayer for you as I sign this book. I really have to keep control of my emotions , I get MAD! when I read about these horrid beasts that consume so much of a kid's life. God forgives me however, I have to continue to ask him to help me understand.

Hi Amanda, I am Gage's mom. He was diagnonsed with Choroid Plexus Carcinoma and is now doing pretty well in remission. He was diagnosed right before he turned 5 but was an awesome inspiration just like you. I read through all your journal entries so I could get the whole picture. It sounds like several similar procedures done, just in different order. We added your link to Gage's page. Bahamas huh? Sounds like a blast . We went to Disney World with the Make A Wish. It is definitely a wonderful organization. We waited until Gage was about a year out in treatments and had a wonderful time. He still got pretty tired so save up on rest because you will have lots of fun. I was so happy to read that your last MRI was clean and will be praying for all the future one's to be the same. God Bless.

Amanda,

I am so happy that you are going to get to go to the Bahamas. Katie went there for spring break last year and she loved it. She said there was so much to do there. She did not actually stay at Atlantis but stayed at a hotel adjacent to it. She said it is an awesome place. I'm glad Brittany gets to go too. If you are at all like Chris, you will have more fun with a friend along. I guess he just finds his parents boring. After all, we are just a couple of losers as he says. We are looking forward to seeing you when you come down this spring.

Love,

Dreams
By: Mary Lynn Radda
Dreams have everything to do with our inner happiness,
Some dreams even have some amazing affects on us,
Guiding us into a realm of peacefulness.
Some dreams may show us avenues,
Which gives us insight into our waking lives,
Encouraging our inner souls to pursue these messages,
As soon has the information arrives.
So many of our dreams have different interpretations,
Some may be Angels sending us messages,
Helping us to see through our frustrations.
Never be afraid to dream,
For it awakens our inner self
Helping our minds to be free,
In and of itself.

Amanda, Keep fighting girl!!! I can't imagine being 15 years old and having to fight this fight. My little guy is only 3 so much of this stuff he doesn't really understand, he just kind of goes with the flow, pukes then gets up and plays!! You kids are very special kids, God only gives this rare tumor to very special kids!!! You keep fighting and we'll keep fighting. Spencer is too little for radiation, and his tumor bed is too large, so we're doing chemo again and will be getting a stem cell transplant as soon as we can get a clean MRI this time around. (we did all of this last year as well). Please stay in touch, check out Spencer's web page at caringbridge.com/mo/spencermom and radiation will be over soon!!!! Hey Amanada, i just got done eating at Aunt Murhls. I have a joke. Ok, a Blond goes into a store and says "sir I'd like to by this microwave," and the manager says "sorry we don't sell to blonds." Well so goes out and dyes her hair. She returns the next day and shes says "sir I'd like to buy this microwave." The manager says "sorry we don't sell to blonds." So she goes out and dyes her hair, and gets a face lift. So she returns the next day and asks the same question. And he says he says the same thing. She said "I went out and did all of this, how do you know I'm blond." He says "because thats not a microwave its a TV." Ha Ha Ha. I hope yall had a great Thanksgiving.

Hey Kid, I just wanted to let you know how proud I am of you, you made it through so much this year, and I know I wouldn't have been able to make it through all that happened this year without pulling strength from you and Bryce. You can always get me to laugh, and I just thank God that he gave me a cool little sis like you. I love you so much, and I will be here for you for anything no matter what, don't you ever forget that!

Hey Kathy. I found this poem and I wanted you to hear it.
Its called Tragedy.
The recent tragedy
Has effected all our lives
from the very young
To the old and the wise.
This feeling of helpessness
Has effected us all
and the thought of not knowing
Tears into our soul.
We all must be strong
And unite all as one
And place all of our faith
In the almighty one.

Hello, Amanda. I hope you're feeling better today. I read the journal, and I'm sorry you have had a rough time. Radiation will make you tired, but it's not nearly as bad as the Chemo. Hopefully, the worst is over. You hang in there, we are all hopeful and prayerful. Love You!!! Carol

Amanda, Hi there. Sorry those counts weren't up enough to get your treatments. Eat healthy, dring lots of liquids, and get plenty of rest. Ask that Dr for something to get the counts up. Most of all, keep finding something to laugh about everyday. Love you much! Aunt Murhl

Hey, Amanda. This is your cousin, Carol. Some tips: Drink plenty of fluids, eat bananas and other fruits to keep your electrolytes up (that will help your blood counts come back up). try to eat high-iron foods (beets, spinach, etc-if you can stand it) for your iron (so you won't become anemic). Keep away from anyone sick, even with just a cold. You probably already know all these things... Just have fun, but get plenty of rest... Love ya, Carol
