It was a pleasure to meet all of your children via the photo's and to here your story> I am the single adoptive parent of 16 year olf who was an extreme preemie born at 28 weeks weighing 1 pound 14 ounces. He an uneventful NICU stay discharged to his natural young unwed parents and one month and one day returned to the PICU where I worked with a head injury, epilepsy and retinal hemorraging from shaken baby syndrome. He remined hospitalized for 1 month and was transferred to a pediatric neuro rehab program where I continued to have contact and subsequently made the decision to adopt Tim. He has been with me every since.
So I can certainly appreciate the struggles you have faced with identify and working with Physicians that don't seem to listen or care. It makes it difficult to get the level of care and treatment our children require and most all deserve. I wish your family the best.

Hello, I found your site through Gooch's page and I am signing your book! I have a caringbridge site for my daughter Hannah Jane and I know I read it nearly every day and anyone signing and new people stopping by is very nice and the encouragement and notes are helpful when having a bad day. Hannah loves getting e-mails and notes, very important for the 4 year old! God blessed you with wonderful children and he knows just who to pair who up with when it comes to adoption. I believe a special place is set aside for those able and willing to adopt a child and more so a child with needs. all children need love and stability after reading your web page I had tears and my heart full knowing you and your husband have much love to give. may God Bless you all. Hi Renee,

This is the first time I have signed your guest book. My name is Katrina and I live in Australia.

You and your family are truely inspiring!!!!!!! It is with great enjoyment that I have read all of your journal entries and I will continue to read them.

My husband and I have four children and sometimes get down about all the medical attention they need (lost count of the specialists they see, and we have a great public (free) health system here so we don't have to fight for good medical attention). But your family has inspired me to keep cheerful and look on the bright side of life.

Keep up the GREAT and AWE INSPIRING parenting job that you and your husband are doing!!!!!

God's Wings
An article in National Geographic several years
ago provided a penetrating picture of God's wings.
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park ,
forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to
assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird
literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely
on the ground at the base of a tree.
Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked
over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck
it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead
mother's wings.
The loving mother, keenly aware of impending
disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of
the tree and had gathered them under her wings,
instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would
rise.
She could have flown to safety but had refused to
abandon her babies. When the blaze had arrived and
the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had
remained steadfast. Because she had been willing to
die, those under the cover of her wings would live.
"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his
wings you will find refuge." (Psalm 91:4).
Being loved this much should make a difference in
your life.
Remember the One who loves you and then be
different because of it.

Please pass this on to others you care about and
don't drive faster than your Guardian Angel can fly.

May Jesus be the Lord of your heart and mine!

Okay well updates that 2 out of 4 kids are doing well is good.. now we have to get those seizures under control, that has to be scary! I am doing the IEP thing too and fell pretty intimidated when they feel they are pushing hard enough and I feel they arent... theres a thin line between pushing the kids to the best of their ability and pushing them to the brink of frustration, and I realize that but I think they labelled ron special ed and they are content to leave it like that and NOT see how much further he can go.. I give up with the school sometimes.. I dont know how in the world you do it Renee.....

I hope Tray starts feeling better soon. Those abdominal migraines can be tough, Maya deals with them too. I like the picture of the kids all together. What a beautiful bunch of faces! Tray reminds me of the little guy on Bernie Mac in that picture. Take care. I hope the nursing thing works out so you guys can get some time for just the two of you.

Renee, thank you for opening your house to me this past weekend. Finally meeting you and your incredible kids was such a treat for me. They are so inspirational, funny and just wonderful children. Nettie is so beautiful, but let her know that my arm is still hurting from the arm wrestling competition. That's the last time I'm doing that with HER!!! The boys were so much fun to be with, and to see how happy they all are is a true testament to the incredible job you and what's his name are doing raising them. One of my favorite moments was when Tray came out of the kitchen first thing in the morning, so excited when he found out that cold popcorn is still delicious the next day!! Breakfast of Champions!! Thanks again for a wonderful time, great food and great people! I pray that God will continue to bless you all and that your children continue to inspire us and help bring focus and direction in all of our lives!

Thank you so much for stopping bye and visiting us on ANGEL COLBY's site. We, as well as most people, really enjoy hearing from others. I know how hard it is for a lot of people to stop and write us, because it is harder to write to those who have lost a precious child. But, you know, even a little hello or just thinking about you means more than most people could ever imagine!!! Anyway, How do you all do it????? You are definitely true servants to our heavenly father! GOD BLESS. You will be so rewarded when your turn comes to go to heaven and be with our father! I forget to say a few words about you Trayvon. You are growing into such a fine young lad. You have grown so much since the last time I saw a picture of you. Become a strong young man so you can protect your new baby sister from all those bullies in life. You have a big responsibility now. Being a big brother is like being superman.
And with your new found love of FOOD.... wow, pretty soon you'll be cooking and planning meals for the family. Just don't fix hotdogs and twizzlers for dinner. haha
Cheers,

Lisa and Justina <ljkorenko@msn.com>
Flagstaff, AZ USA - Monday, November 17, 2003 9:55 PM CST
hey there Renee,
I'm so glad you signed Justina's caringbridge site a couple weeks back... through that I was able to get your kids' web page. They look soooooo good!!!
And you can let Anette know that Justina got her IVIG over the weekend. Her's take several days because the chemo damage to her lungs puts pressure on her heart and her blood pressure becomes very unstable. But, it only took two days this time versus 5 days. (the medivac wasn't on call). I forgot that Joshua is getting it too. I call Justina the platninum baby because IVIG is sooooo very expensive. I don't know how much your kids get but, stina gets 2 grams per kilo (I think .5 is used for deficencies)... Justina's immune system needs to be flooded out not "helped" out. Justina's IVIG costs about 2500- 5000 a treatment. Imagine how much IVIG and money that Annette, Joshua and Justina have passed on in their young lives.
and you are adding a new brood to the family. Mariella is a sweetheart. In your hands she'll prosper and gain skills in no time. Your touch of love and determination have created magic already in three very special children. Do you ever find it ironic that Joshua developed medical problems and you worked with disabled children? It seems like the planets aligned for you to be the mommy you needed to be to the children that needed you for their mommy.
How's Joshua's lungs? When I read your recent post I cringed... it reminded me of Justina's problems. We all though asthma and found out by accident that it wasn't. Just please keep a good eye on it. Renee, our kids that got stemcell transplant aren't followed well enough. It's felt that because it was only a "rescue" that the long term side effects aren't there. But, kids like ours that have underlying problems (like the immune system) are more likely to have problems.... and too often us parents are brushed off. For now, her lung CT is stable so we get to avoid the dreaded long term high dose steroids. I can relate to your dread for even five days worth. I call steroids our evil best friend. It's a great drug but, has an equally awful bad twin. We found Justina's root problem by an EKG. It showed that the lung pressure was way up.. hence upper respitory dysfunction. From our experience, maybe ask for a lung CT... just to rule out the potential of lung damage (lung fibrosis)... Our kids were in the first big rush of stemcell transplants... so our kids will be the ones that will carry the potentials for problems. They are laying the ground work for other children. Okay, I've gone on way too much in the guest book.
My aol e-mail was shut down but, I have a new account but, not a stable screen name yet. Though, I have an msn account. Please stay in touch. Our kids have so much in common. LJKorenko@msn.com
Cheers,
Lisa Korenko
PS- I said it once but, I have to say it again... I can't get over at how beautiful Annette is becoming. Truly a gorgeous young lady with a spark of spunk in her eyes.

I had originally planned to visit as many caringbridge sites as possible, and leave some encouraging words, prior to my daughters passing. Unfortunately her passing came sooner than we had expected, but longer than any of her doctors expected.

Another angel takes flight.

My daughter Pam had a brain tumor and was fighting the fight since November 4th, 2002, after the birth of her daughter (Casey Morgan). My youngest daughter, Karen, set up a caringbridge website for Pam. Karen's friends mother shared a prayer with us, that I would like to share with you and your 3 angels. It's called DON'T QUIT:
Don't Quit -
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit - Rest if you must, but do not quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As every one of us sometimes learns, And many a fellow turns about, When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don't give up though the pace seems slow - You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than it seems to a faint and faltering man; Often the struggler has given up when he might have captured the victor's cup. And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out - The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems afar, So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit, It's when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.(Just call on Jesus).

I would also like to share a saying that was on the card my wife Diane picked out, and we bought for Pam:

If you were a star
That wasn’t expected back
In the universe
For a thousand years,
I’d wait.

If you were the sky
And everyone went inside
When you got sad
And started to rain,
I’d stay.

And if you were a peach
And the world decided to get rid of all peaches,
I’d pick you up,
Put you in my pocket…

AND KEEP YOU…. FOREVER..

Prayers have scientifically been proven to work.

REMEMBER NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT. You are in our prayers. GOD bless you all.

Hi Everybody~
I'm Gloria, a Smile Quilt Angel from Smile Quilts. I have really been enjoying and feeling inspired after reading your journals. You are an amazing blended family. I know you can't wait for your new sister to come from Boston, too! That is one more person spreading the love.
I want to invite you to Smile Quilts.com to have 4 virtual quilts made (one for each of you children). They are made with the individual child in mind. If Mom approves she can click on the above graphic and it will lead you to the short application to have your quilt made.
I am looking forward to hearing from you and will continue to follow your progress. You are definitely in my prayers.

Love,
Angel Gloria

Renee, Missa was Eeyore last year!! She loves him to. Still waiting to hear from 5C on our next adventure... Sorry to hear of the cortisone nightmare. Our friend gets them (in the elbow) and he ended up out of work for WEEKS due to an infection. Hope it helps. Missa was checking out the page and asking if the boy she played Blues Clues was Josh. I told her yes. She had fun with him. Well hope things are nice for the kids tomorrow!!!

That stinks about Joshua's port. We only had that happen once & him raising his arms above his head helped. (hey we always use emla on a piece of gauze pad and use not so sticky paper tape to hold it down, Ronnie doesnt even like bandaids & that tegaderm - forget it - he hates it with a passion.) My son and daughter BOTH had pretty bad reflux when they were babies. And neither one of them is adopted. Their Mom is though, does that count?

Oh poor Tray! That must have been so hard Mom. I had my little girl in for her 2 year check-up and they attempted to get blood for a lead test. We didn't have the most skilled technician and she couldn't get the blood. Meantime, Tatum is screaming, blood is pouring everywhere. And all I could think of was all my friends who go through this everyday with their kids and treatments.
Big hugs to you Tray.

Survivor's guilt really does stink, and I don't think it is ever anything that goes away, espcially when you are still in the cancer world and helping others so much as you are. You bring so much strength, encouragement, and inspiration to cancer families with who you are and all that you do for your family and strangers alike. I am so happy that you can say "5 years!" But I think it also marks a HUGE step into "normal" and we havent been there in a long time. Its hard to think this is one more milestone, much like hair regrowth, where people tend to expect us to be over it since the "worst is over", and it just aint that easy. Its hard to leave behind a safety net that we have had for so long. I am as apprehensive to stop chemo as I was to start, believe me!

Just wanted to drop by and leave you some Valentine’s thoughts & wishes. Hoping things are going good for you today. I hope you’re getting new guestbook messages since you have been listed on Adopt a Kid’s Site! Amie & I are trying to get as many people thinking and praying as possible. Renee, your house must smell as good as mine - 4 out of 5 of us had the stomach bug... and it wasnt ME that was excluded!

Renee, Thanks for the talk on 7 H a few weeks ago. Zach did the test great only problem is the wire broke off the next morning. Come to find out it started to break 5 hours into the test. they wanted him to do it again but i said no. So they have him on meds now and he "seems" better. Our talk reassured me. Thanks!! Glad to hear you guys are doing better. Missed ya at the pool party:>( Hope to see you all soon.
PS Got the mailer the day after I saw you (hehe)

Hi there.
Just thought I'd sign your guestbook. I found your page through chubbychica.com (which I found through a site for a little girl named Ashley Goud who had Neuroblastoma but has passed on to live with Jesus - 11/20/02). I have 4 kids and they all had that flu as well, but in the Christmas holidays ... NOT fun.

Anyway ... God bless you, hope everyone is feeling better!!

Hi guys!
I went through that last week with my kids. Every room in our house had a barf bag in it. And I kept the upstairs bathroom free and clear for emergencies. I didn't mind using the bathroom in the basement all alone either. What a yuck a thon!! Hope everyone is feeling better.
Right now my kids are sliding down the stairs on a bean bag chair. I'm seeing a trip to the emergency room in my near future!!!
Gotta run!

You know, Jackson had something very similar to that. He was violently vomiting one day, fine the next, then all of a sudden....
Whenever we ate we all watched him like a hawk. And quite honestly, kept our distance!!!
Hope he's feeling better.

hey kids!! Renee you may or may not know that my friend Amie & I are trying to raise awareness for more kids' sites and get more support and prayers going. If you havent already, soon you will be getting guestbook messages from someone who has "adopted" these 3 beautiful children (if you dont want to participate just let us know and we will understand). We know the encouragement from others is important, and even if you dont feel you need it, someone else may be visiting your site and drawing strength from you and how well all of you are doing! Trust me, your family is an inspiration! We will be praying for you .

I'm sorry Trayvon was feeling icky. I've had a migraine before, they are no fun. Poor little guy. Give him a hug from his new buddy.
I have an almost 2 year old - Tatum. She likes to cause trouble so lots of my entries will be stories about her.
Santa brought her a shopping cart for Christmas. Her latest favorite thing to do is open the refridgerator and empty it into her cart. She also likes to smash eggs on the floor and watch the dog eat them. She keeps me on my toes that's for sure!
Hugs to you all!

Hello New Friends!!!
I have officially "adopted" you from Gooch's page. So now you are stuck with me. Let me introduce myself.
My name is Lori Gray. I live in Minnesota with my husband, Tim, 5 1/2 year old son, Jackson; almost 2 year old daughter Tatum, dog - Rosco, and 3 cats - Moo, Clover and Bug.
I have beena chemo angel for almost a year now. I've become addicted to Gooch's page and all the kids. Your family has always made me smile. I admire you so much.
I was adopted when I was two weeks old. When I was 15, my family adopted a 9 year old girl. So we have that in common. I personally think it's pretty cool to be adopted.
My goal is to make you smile each and every day. I'll be here for you through all the ups and downs.
So, welcome to my family!!
All my best!

Renee, We have to hold onto the fact that not many people update when their kids are doing well and they are busy LIVING and enjoying life, we generally only see when the kids arent doing well, so it gets very depressing. It has been a rough start to the year on CaringBridge, but we can only hope and pray it ends and fewer and fewer kids get cancer. People think its boring and there is nothing to say when their kids are doing fine, something we all take for granted (well - used to!) We NEED to see the good news and success stories. We have to hold onto that and hope for the best. You know your family is in our prayers.

I was very touched to read your site.I have a three year old daughter who just finished treatment for pineoblastoma also using the HeadStart 2 protocal. She was also given very low "statistics" and it gave me much hope to hear your son is doing so well.God bless you and your other children.
I am adding this to the note from my daughter. I an the grandfather of Destiny Berg. We would like to wish your son well and perhaps keep in touch. My e mail is shown below.

God blesses this earth with people like you. You have really reached out to children who are so lucky to have found you. Your children are beautiful by the way. I agree with the reasoning of why to read other's websites. I try to read as many as possible and say a prayer for them when I visit the site. I may not remember each child by name or their story but they do find a place in my heart and help me in so many ways. I think it enables me to grow and gain strength. Our daughter Katia (almost 3) was diagnosed with Leukemia AML April 15, 2002. She finished her chemo treatments September 11, 2002 and is since still in remission. We are truly feeling blessed. I hope that you will have a chance to drop by her website. There is a newpaper article (link is on her website) that tells her history. I wish you the best with your 3 champions! Love, Tracy Solomon

Fun? Are you out of your mind woman???
We were house hunting and it was driving me crazy (okay, we only looked for 2 days, at as many as we could each day). We each liked something different in all of them, OR they were too small/too old/too expensive. We saw some really nice ones, but fun? No, no way I would describe it fun. We are too opposite to agree on anything, especially something as expensive as a house! Its hard to find affordable 4 bedrooms around here, and having only 2 bedrooms now, we are crowded. Squished is more like it! Its very affordable where my brother in law is (Ellenville,NY) but theres no jobs there. So we decided on one and will hopefully move in end of October. Boy have I chewed your ear off, but we have a different computer now and I lost all my fave places, and I have to pop in the zip disk I saved them on to get to see all the kids' sites again. So while I am here I wanted to get it all out! I really wish CB had a spell checker! I am glad to hear all Joshua got was that bad scratch, it could have been a lot worse. God was watching out. I have told you in the past how remarkable you are. I know in your eyes its the remarkable kids you have to work with!

Renee & Family,

It is truely an inspiration to read about your wonderful family. So much strength. My daugher Alexis is still recieving treatment for Wilms tumor and we sometimes have such difficult days. I could not imagine having 3 children with medical needs. You & your family will be in our prayers and I will continue to check as often as I can.

hi guys, just checking in on you and seeing how things are going. I'm glad the docs have a plan for Joshua now- I agree with you about pushing for a port instead of a hickman. Why do they think that would be easier? We never had a hickman but I would much rather deal with a port, especially if he only needs it once a month. Sorry Tray's tummy is acting up. Hope you guys are all enjoying your summer! Hugs,

Hello again everyone! Just checking in on you three and mom and dad! Renee, could you please grow some of whatever it is you have and have it then injected into the rest of society? What a heaven on earth this world would truly be! Prayers that all works out with the monthly treatments and so glad things are going relatively ok. Right? Also, it is so true that us moms KNOW with our whole beings when something is not right with our kids! If the medical profession would teach THAT in med school, we'd have much quicker diagnosis and better healthcare for our children! Take care and GOD BLESS YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Oh {{Renee}}
How frustrating to be right! I'm sorry that Joshua's immune system isn't as it should be-but you (the specialist on your kids)knew that. The only difference now is the other specialists have confirmed it. Sorry he must get a port but they are really much different then a hickman-only monthly maintanance. I know you know all this- but as long as his port is in a good place on his body it shouldn't bother him. Try not to think of it as a step back into the cancer world. Unfortunately, it is just life's continuation of long term treatment side effects. But he is here with his family and such a WONDERFUL kid! I hope the vzig helps tremendously and puts an end to all these infections. Glad Nettie and Tray are doing well. Hope to see you soon (ball park night or at Party for a Cure?)
many hugs,
Heather and Brianna

Hey guys
theres a lot to be said for intuition huh? It's shame he has been going thru all this, and yeah, it does seem a port is the best option if he needs those 4 hr infusions. Yikes. I hope you guys enjoy the weekend.

Hi There. I'm a new one. I found your site on Justin's. I check it and many many others every day. My little niece has Wilms Tumor (kidney cancer) and I just can't believe what I've found here on Caringbridge. Such horrible things, almost unbelievably heartbreaking and sad, but yet such wonderful people who show such kindness, love, caring and giving! It puts one's faith back in humanity! You are just wonderful and a prime example. Three Angels! You're now in my favorites. I hope you're ready for another fan and another person praying. My utmost respect and admiration for your family.

What an amazing family! All 3 of these kids are so blessed to have you for parents! Our prayers will be with your family as you face challenges every day! I have a 2 year old that was born with a congenital heart defect, but after a very successful surgery, you would never know she had a problem. (she only has to see her cardiologist twice a year) She is flanked by an older sister (3 years old) and a new baby sister (12 weeks). My kids go with me when I donate blood (every 56 days), and will be participating in the local "Guardian Angel" program in our city, starting in August. My hope is to raise 3 loving, caring, non-prejudiced children who will always feel the need to give back. It sounds like you are doing the same! I hope someday you can be open with people in your town, and that people infected with HIV, or any other disease, are treated just like anyone else. God bless all of you and enjoy your summer.

Hi! I work with Aunt Brenda at The Sutherland Group. She talks lovingly about you three and Kali all the time. I too have two children. My oldest is Kaleb he is 8 yrs old and a handsome big boy. He has had asthma & severe allergies since he was very tiny. He gets allergy shots and has inhalers that he uses to help relieve some of his problems. Erin is my youngest and has been my sickest. She is going to be two yrs old on August 13th this year and has Reactive Airway Disease, Severe Gastric-Esophageal Reflux Disease, Low Immune System, Failure To Thrive, and severe feeding issues. She has had two major surgeries; nissen, nissen re-tie, hiatal hernia repair, g-tube placement and a pyloroplasty. She has a feeding pump, nebulizer, air conditioner, and humidifier for medical equipment at home. She stands a whole 30.5 inches tall and weighes in at 23 lbs. She was born at a whopping 8 lbs and was 19 inches tall. The doctors have said as long as she eats and gets her pump and we keep her away from areas when stronger illnesses are around she should be fine. She will however, be small all her life because of the nutritional deficiencies that she has had. I will have to get a photo of her to give to Aunt Brenda so she can show you who she is. Take care and we will be praying for you all to stay as healthy as possible and keep prgressing in a good/positive direction! God Bless!

I came across this website by accident, and I am so very glad that I stayed!!! I have read all of your journal entries and also your guestbook. You have three very beautiful children and you have been so very blessed!!!

My name is Linda Jorgenson and my son, daughter, and I were injured in a car accident on December 22, 2001. My son recieved the most injuries. He has a complete spinal cord injury at T-12 which means that he is paralyzed from the waist down. This is a permanent injury and the drs. said that he would never move any muscles in his legs. I have had people praying all over the U*S*A*, and he is moving his legs!! He cannot move them down, nor can he feel them, he is moving them...so it is a start. I firmly believe in the power of prayer, and I will pray for your family. You as a mother are an amazing woman. You have given of yourself and for that you deserve so much!!! I hope that you get a chance to visit Dylan www.caringbridge.com/mi/dylanjorgenson

Hi to all,
I would like to say that all 3 of the children are beautiful,an that God still has it in control ,He says in his word that he would never leave us or forsake us,for that is what brought us through with our child an that is what will bring you through all of the trails,an things that you will go through,In the bible it says stand still an see the salvation of the lord,in other if you will stand still an not give up he will pour a miracle straight from heaven upon you an your children too,my child was diagoised with an terminal leukemia called (aml m7) leukemia an underwent an unrelated bonemarrow transplant an all they could say was they could give him about 3 months to be with us,but we went to god in prayer an believing that they were wronge an THEY WERE my child is setting here 17 months leukemia free an no signs of it ever returning Praise The Lord, we serve an awesome god yes we do,the doctor in Knoxville,Tenn an in Nashville Tenn,at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital said that they have never known or have seen an other types of aml m7 survivors an we are searching for them to prove them wronge,I just like to try to give our testamony to tell everyone how good god is an never to give up,I pray that god gives you strenght in the time of need.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL

Our son Cameron has HLHS and Stinotic Left Pulmonary Artery. He has had 3 surgeries, and is doing great. It has been really great writing back and forth with you. We live in a very affluential area; I sometimes feel like our son is the only one with a serious health problem. Although I wish no one else had to go through this, it's nice to 'talk' to someone who understands. Thank you for the site.

We hope all continues to be well with you and your family. We continue to be enlightened and inspired by your courage and grace in the face of adversity.

Hi! I found your wonderful page in a search for congenital immune deficiencies. I'm a 25 year old female with a disease known as Congenital Janeway 3-type agammaglobumenia (a total lack of IgA) with IgM and IgG complement. Like Annette, I am extremely susceptible to infections in my respiratory and GI systems, as well as my nervous system and mucousal membranes. My disease also causes autoimmune destruction of my organs and body systems due to abnormal T-suppressor cells (which don't differentiate between infection and my own cells) and the presence of anti-mitochondrial antibody, which mistakes my own mitochondria for foreign cells and attacks them. My disease has caused quadriplegia, legal blindness, and has destroyed much of my GI system (I am fed TPN via my central line and have an ileostomy), my lungs, and my heart (inflammatory cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure) as well as several other body systems. I am oxygen dependent and transfusion dependent (for PRBCs).
I have a wonderful family, a mom who has never treated me any differently than my three healthy sisters, a dad who never let me use my disability as an excuse for not trying my hardest, and sisters whom I love, and have given me two gorgeous nieces and two beautiful nephews. I am also engaged to a sweet, wonderful man with the most beautiful soul I have yet encountered. God has blessed me.
Reading about your family, I am amazed how blessed your children are to have parents who love and cherish them. It will make all the difference in how they will live their lives, and guarantees that even if their lives are short in quantity, they will be rich in quality. Annette, Joshua and Trayvon amaze me with their courage, cheerfulness and beauty inside and out. God bless all of you, and keep you safe and together. If there is ever anything I can do to help, please let me know. My family and I keep all of you in our prayers.

Hi Kids,
You are so very special! You have a mommy and daddy that really loves you. Your especially lucky to have a mommy that stays home with you and can spend time teaching and caring for you.
Your daddy is a very hard worker he comes in everyday and works really hard so that he can provide a home and nice things for you. Today is his birthday and everyone at work is making a big fuss over him, but you know what? As happy as that makes him seeing you you smile is worth more to him !! I have 4 children myself... 3 of them are 5 years old, they are lots of fun and I bet that you will get to meet them some day when we have a company function where the kids can come. I look forward to meeeting all of you soon.

Good job Joshua! It's hard to believe how far we've come since that first day we met. It seems so clear, yet seems like a million years ago. Here we are again knowing exactly what each other is feeling. This time it's a good thing-- RELIEF!! Jessie's last and final bone marrow and spinal-- CLEAR!! We have alot to be thankful for.

Hi! I am glad that Joshua is cancer free. Well done!! You signed my son's guestbook a while ago, shortly after he died and I just wanted to thank you. It has been a very difficult time and your words of encouragement were very much appreciated. Sorry it's taken so long to respond. Good luck on the baby front! I am expecting a baby and I must admit was very upset when I found out. We found out the day before Benjamin had his BMT and it was very unexpected. To think we were worried how we'd cope with a newborn and a 2 year old (The baby is due the day after Ben's second birthday) - I'd give anything to be in that position now. Best of luck to you, especially Joshua and Anette.....keep up the good work, you are very brave!!

Hi! Signing in for the first time here. You all seem like such a strong family! Good for you!!! I have some questions about BMT. My daughter, Hannah, was recently told that it may be in line for her if her levels don't change and she doesn't stay healthier. I have heard about people having babies to use the cord blood or saving it from other relatives giving birth. Do you know if this is highly successful? Right now they only give her a 60% chance of this working and I haven't run into anyone with Igg2 & JRA that this has been mentioned that I know of. Can you offer any advice?
Thank you
Mary (daughter Hannah 9yrs old, CVID, JRA, only 42 lbs!)

Hi....a friend of mine sent your site to me. I am always interested in stories of this sort. You are a true inspiration. My husband and I are foster/adoptive parents and we currently have a set of twins that have a lot of medical needs. So I can relate to your adventure in life. God bless you all. I will keep checking back to see how you are doing.

Hi Annette, Joshua & Family,
We received your thank you E-mail. Glad you enjoyed all of the cards and gifts you got through MACS. I have a three year old that helps decorate the envelopes for the cards we send. She liked your pictures on the webpage. Hope everything goes well with your surgery. We will check back for up-dates to keep up on how you are doing. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Hi Netti and Josh: Know your mom from CaringParents email list, which I infrequently write on. My son William is 5 (on May 24th) and he has had since at least 9 months of age a benign brain tumor called an optic glioma, which is stable and shrinking. He just finished carboplatin/vincristine therapy, and like the both of you, he goes to school, plays, and then has a few extra doctor visits along the way. Nothing slows William down either. God Bless you both!

Hi Nettie,

My 9 1/2 month old daughter receives IVIG once a month, and has since she was 4 1/2 months old while in the hospital after becoming seriously ill will pneumonia. She receives another one next week. Sorry to hear you had a bad reaction to your IVIG, I hope all goes well next time around. It is so encouraging to hear about another little girl "living with" HIV. My daughter has five different medications she takes every day (x2). Initally, she would cry and struggle in an attempt to get away from her daddy and I at medicine time; however, for about the past month now she has stopped putting up resistance and just "takes her medicine like such a big girl". It is such a relief. Each time she finishes taking her medication, we clap and say "yea emi", "good girl"...she breaks out in the biggest, most heartwarming smile. She's wonderful and we love her so much. GOD BLESS YOU, Nettie.

Hello. I hope Annette enjoyed her birthday party. It sounded very nice. It seems that kids always wait for mom to be there when they get sick. I hope that all of Josh's test come back with good news. Maybe sometime you can go to NYC just to sightsee. God Bless and take good care of those little ones (and yourself too).
