Devon Marie Lam

Welcome to our Child Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about our Child. Born on January 24, 2003. Diagnosed on Oct 12, 2004 with an Anaplastic Ependymoma brain tumor. Suffered from post-surgery Posterior Fossa Mutism. As an inpatient, she was treated at Columbia Presbyterian in NYC from Oct 2004 to June 2005. Treatment: 6 months of high dose chemotherapy followed by a Stem Cell Transplant/Rescue...a 6 month remission resulted but only to reoccur in Nov 2005. Treated w/ 6 weeks of conformal and IMRT radiation to the entire brain and spine. Her tumor remained stable for almost 3 years with the help of complimentary and alternative protocols until November 16, 2008 when a new inoperable aggressive tumor was found. Currently there is no conventional treatment plan available. We have elected to keep Devon comfortable until it is her time. Your prayers are greatly needed.

MORE GIGGLES AND EVEN MORE NO'S!!

Devon does not disappoint. She's upping the ante when it comes to surprising everyone around her. Although the official scan reads like a train wreck, Devon is doing remarkably well. She has a great appetite but we can thank steroids for that. And she's bearing weight on her feet much better. I (Mommy)tend to aggrevate Devon when trying to get her to smile and giggle but in turn she bellows out these glorious "No's" and she even sneaked in a "Yes." Her IV had to be changed and they decided to change the IV to her left arm so she started to cry which as much as I felt torn up inside, I knew she needed to work out those lungs. Afterward, I asked her, "You're feeling better, right?" And I got a definitive "Yes." Devon is famous for incremental improvements but they're improvements and is making our time with her that more precious and memorable. And speaking of memorable, thank you Assistant Coach of Temple LAX, Nicole Moore, for posting some footage she took of Devon after a game in Amhurst, MA on YouTube.

We want to thank the Cortland State Womens Softball team for the very cool pink t-shirt and signed 2008 Team Guide for Devon.

We also want to thank Seminarian student, James Ferreira and Father McCarthy for stopping by and praying with us. Devon absolutely loved and clutched the small statue of the Virgin Mary in her hand as well as the Miraculous medal necklace.

And once again, the messages left on this site have helped more than anyone could know. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Oh and Katie from our trip to Lourdes, France, you were spot on with your, "...I'm pretty sure we're at storm level 4 in the heavens..."
