Nathan,

I had so much fun playing with you at Toddle Town. I hope we can do it again, maybe even go to a playground as Mommy says that we live close to each other. Hope to see you soon.

Hey Nathan! What a cool note to us former-FRBers! You are so intelligent, clever and witty (just like your Mom and Dad!) Give hugs and kisses to Mom for me (and to Dad too). Mom will explain that this crazy lady - who adores kids of all ages - has always been a "touchy-feely" friend from the Fed. Love you guys! ....j

Hi guys. I am really looking forward to seeing you Wednesday!! I missed your journals all weekend. I couldn't wait to come to work and read them. Nathan sure is getting cuter!! Don't worry Cheryl, I will have the video camera. It may be a little wobbly. You know I will be crying and taping at the same time. My balance is a little off since surgery (who knows maybe something will happen and Nathans return can make it to Funniest Videos) but I will do my best. I'm sure your mom will read this - don't worry I WILL do my best for you Mom (Grandma)! Well hopefully I will get to read an updated Journal before I leave. Love you - See you soon ! xoxoxo
p.s. Paul and Cheryl I will try and get the two of you in the camera, but my eyes will be on Nathan!! LOL

Cheryl, Paul & Nathan,

YEAH!!!! We were so excited to hear Barb say Wednesday night that you had signed!!! We have enjoyed so much reading your daily journals. We have made it a routine to put Shawn to sleep and then relive our experience through your journals. Although it has been 9 months, at times it feels like we just left and other times is seems so long ago. Cheryl, now you can take Nathan to see Santa. Each and every day is a new and exciting experience. It is amazing how prayers are answered.

Please send our love to Betty, Rafa, Annette, Alicia, Okenus and everyone at FANA. Please tell them we think of them often.

We look forward to your arrival and we can't wait to meet Nathan. Enjoy your last few days. See you soon!

P.S. Now that we know your video talent, we need help!!! After the holidays, maybe you could lend us a hand????

Hurray!

We were so excited when Barb Surace told us you were signing. We can't wait to see you and hold little Nathan. You better not be tabuating the buddy couple. We have exclusive rights to hold the baby.

Paul, we saw the wonderful DVD you made for the Suraces. It was great. We did not realize how talented you were. Guess we know what committee you will be on. You will have to show me how you do that some day. Just want you to know that you both are quite special people and wonderful friends to all of us.

Enjoy you last few days in Bogota. You still have time to go out and buy us plenty of gifts (just kidding). Seeing Nathan in your arms will be gift enough.

Hi Paul, Cheryl and Nathan:

Paul, you have certainly become a writer since you arrived in Bogota. We look forward each and every day to reading you website. It is great to see FANA and Bogota again through your word and pictures. We could not agree more with everything you have said in regards to FANA and adoption. We are all so blessed to have received these little miracles we now call our children.

Keep up the good work on the journal entries and we hope to hear soon that you have signed. You are in our thoughts and are prayers.

Hurry home, we have a to get you signed up for a few commitees. Just kidding, we will give you a few days to get settled. After going to Bogota and FANA we truely realize why so many of us stay committed to FANA and our fund raising activities. We get so caught up in our new babies that it is easy to forget the children and great work still at FANA. However, they need us more than ever.

Give our best to everyone at FANA. Tell Betty and Rafa we love them both and think of them each and every day.

Most of all, take care of yourselves. Enjoy Bogota, but remember that you have to come home soon and start taking care of yourself. It is a hard adjustment to come home and have to start doing your own cooking and cleaning.

God Bless you guys.

Love, Shari, Dave and Justin <dpanderson923@msn.com>

Hi Paul, Cherul & little Nathan:

We missed you all at the Surace's homecoming last night. It was amazing! Barb and Alicia held Antoinette and Matthew up in their arms for everyone to see as they approached the masses... and I mean MASSES of people waiting for them at the airport last night. Loud cheers and clapping sent chills up our spine as it reminded us of our homecoming in many ways. What an emotional experience!

Channel 2 was there interviewing and taping the event. We watched the segment on the 11:00 news too. The reporter turned out to be an old classmate of mine from the 4th grade!!! We had a chance to talk briefly about the FANA experience. She was visibly moved and really seemed to connect with all the emotions that were running high last night.

Considering that the Surace's are a very Italian family, I should have known that finding a parking space last night would be a "challenge" and it was of course. They are truly blessed to have such a loving and supportive network of family and friends.

It sounds like you are enjoying all that Colombia has to offer. Have you tried the little Lebanese restaurant just around the corner from Betty's yet? We highly recommend it. The food is goooooood! and cheap! Don't pass up an opportunity to check out Carbon de Polo, Santa Barbara Mall and El Corral... some very popular places we visited.

Have you had your tour of FANA yet? Did you see all the older children? How did it go? Very emotional experience!

Please give our love to Betty, Alicia, Annette, Okenis, and Leydes for us. We miss them very much. It was a special treat to see Elizabeth last night at the airport. She couldn't believe how much "Javier" (aka "Sammy") has grown. It really meant a lot to her to see everyone again.

We are very much looking forward to your homecoming.... hopefully soon. You're in our hearts and in our prayers. God bless!

Hello to the Cummings family. I loved reading all the new updates and seeing new pictures. I have not had the chance to see any since Thursday. We missed you Saturday, but you were in our hearts. I print out all the new journals and pictures every time you update so I can show my mom and Paulie. He loves me to read the Journals and he definatley loves to see Nathan. He keeps on asking if we can go to your house and see him. I told him soon!! Jill and I practically tackled one another to get to the phone, as you know I WON!!(hey Jill - neener-neener-neener) She is right, we both cried! (Happy tears-BIG ONES) I had the copies of the journals and pictures out in case anyone did not have the opportunity to see them. We are all so HAPPY for the two of you(THREE of you). Nathan looks so content and so do the both of you!! You were definatley made for one another!!! After all he does look like Daddy. If I can remember from Cheryl's baby pictures, she was a cute little pudge ball as well. I really look forward to seeing you in the airport, hopefully soon. Keep the journals and pictures coming. Love you all- Tracy and the Kula Gang! xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo (p.s. Jill got to talk longer so I hope I can hold him first-(Love ya jill)).

Hello from FOF-MN! We were there in August and love to hear the updates of the current families at Betty's! We loved staying there (isn't Alicia a god-send?!) and loved meeting FOF-NY families (Dobies, Cullens, Kalinokos). Every night we'd come downstairs with the 3 dumb baby questions of the day, and everyone really helped and acted like a big family! Enjoy your time there (Nathan is BEAUTIFUL-look at the head of hair on that kid!) and give Betty and Alicia a big hug from us!!!

Cheryl,

You do not stink at writing. I opened up the site today, 12/3 and saw the beautiful picture of your smiling baby. I made sure everyone in the office here saw it. He is absolutely adorable. I hope the time goes fast for you and you're home soon. Your family must be pacing the floors at home waiting to see you, your husband and Nathan. My daughter is due in two weeks and I've run out of patience. I think I'll have a talk with baby-to-be and tell him/her to get a move on. Best wishes---have a safe trip back

I'd love to order the smile and all the others in your journal album( 4 of them) but they aren't offered through Yahoo. (at least I can't find them..but you know me and computers!!) Anyway , can I get them?? I'd love to give them to Great Grandpa for Christmas and , of course, for me too. I was glad to hear the tentative schedule for signing. Sounds very optimistic. Jim says hi. Paul, thank you so much for writing such wonderful journal entries and posting so many pictures. Due to the holiday Dennis and I missed a couple of days, so we had a lot to catch up on last night! We loved Nathan's Bills outfit. Nathan looks more beautiful everyday, even with the messy hair. Believe me, someday his cousin Danielle is going to be very jealous of that hair! We can not wait to see you all! Of course you both realize that when you get home you will become invisible like all new parents, because all everybody wants is to see and play with your baby :) We're glad to hear that you've been able to relax and vacation, you deserve it. Enjoy the weather while you can, we had blizzard like conditions in the Syracuse area over the weekend, and we are expected to get anywhere from 4-12" over the next day.

Cheryl and Paul,
I don't see my entry from yesterday in your guest book. Did you delete it, Paul??? Anyways, thanks for posting a picture of Nathan wearing that awesome Bills bib. Must be from someone very special.
My thoughts are with you daily. Cheryl you make an absolutely beautiful and natural looking mother. This is your calling. I put Nathan's picture up on my mother's computer Thanksgiving Day. When she walked into the room she about fell over saying how adorable he is (and all those other things grandmothers say; you know).
Well I have the day off and am going to do some birthday/Christmas shopping. It's been quite nasty out lately so I guess I'll just have to brave it. I have a lot of my cookies made and all the gifts I have thus far wrapped. Next is to decorate.
I still plan to camp out at the airport Sunday the 21st. It'll be a great day all the way around.
Talk to you soon,

Paul, Cheryl & Nathan ("Nando" in Spanish):

It sounds like you all have the right attitude regarding your experience in Bogota. You are making the best of it. Continue to take in as much as you can because Nathan will want to know about his heritage. Reading your website helps us fill in the gaps-- as there were aspects of our Bogota experience that either missed or forgot. It was helpful to us reading about your journey to Monserrate as your stories fill in the missing pieces to our "aging" memories. LOL

Nathan's pictures are so adorable. We are in Chicago right now visiting family and are able to use my brother-in-law's computer to peek at your website now and then. It is such a blessing for us to see God's plan unfold before our eyes through the pictures you share and the journals you write.

Is your driver Annette? Have you seen the Gold Museum yet? Has Okenis prepared her specialities "Ajiaco" and "Chocolate log" yet? mmmmmm Ah, we miss it so.

Give Nathan a big hug from us. God bless!

I'll bet you guys are having a great time with him, he looks so happy. I'm sure you had a great Thanksgiving, that must have been a blast. We missed you in Buffalo but hey, you're taking care of my new little cousin, I forgive you lol! Okay, Paul, is Nathan a good baby??? I couldn't quite tell from your journal entry-ha-ha! I am so happy for all of you-parenthood is an undescribable feeling at times. overwhelming. I 'm glad that you had a good Thanksgiving-ours was good. My daughter, Katy and her "spouse" came over-it was good to see her-first time since Aug. 9th. Anyway, we're working on our relationship-rebuilding it. I have faith we can work things out-love is the strongest emotion, and that parent/child love in unconditional as I am sure you are finding out. Things at work are going okay, George has "kicked it up a notch" (he's actually working!) and we haven't had too many catastrophies. He did complain to me that he TOLD TOM 2 months ago that he wasn't going to do deliveries when you left and that he "better hire someone"
but I laughed it off. Hey, the day before Thanksgiving-I actually signed up 3 new customers! Well I'm sure you really don't ant to think about work, I'll close for now-Stay healthy and happy and God Bless---Rosemary

Cheryl and Paul - This is fantastic! As many have already said, Nathan looks so much like Paul! My belief is that these children are meant to be ours even before they were conceived, and God guides Mercedes hand in uniting us as a family. The blessing is worth the wait, as all of His blessings are. Take to heart everyone's advice to look at your time in Colombia together as a vacation. There is much to enjoy and experience, and once in a while if you get out - well, that's nice too! Nathan is so handsome! God speed and we'll see you soon! Paul & Cheryl:

Congratulations. We heard the exciting news from Barb and Sam yesterday at church. Sorry we missed you but we attended 9am. Nathan is such a cutie! And I can't believe how much he resembles Paul. You guys have been so patient (at least on the surface). May God continue to bless you as you are united with your precious son in the next few days. Have a safe and wonderful trip. And remember what I told you guys, "Have a vacation mentality". Don't worry about when you're coming home. Just have fun and enjoy it. Think about it: Never again in your lives will you have an opportunity to be together as a family with no outside distractions (work, other family, etc., etc.) for such a long period of time. So don't be too anxious for it end. We can't wait to meet Nathan at our stomping grounds at the Buffalo Airport. Please feel free to call us if you need anything before you leave.

Paul, Cheryl & Nathaniel:

God's timing is perfect, isn't it?

We are so excited about your upcoming Thanksgiving-adventure. From now on your Thanksgiving will be extra special surrounded by memories of your FANA experience.

Some advice for your trip:

1. Try using some Spanish with the maids. It will make them laugh.... i.e. you'll get bigger portions at dinner.

2. You'll need to learn a little contemporary Yiddish for Betty- a couple "oy-veys" and you'll mix in just fine.

3. There's a computer store right around the corner from Betty's place in case you have any "technological difficulties"-- but Barb and I wouldn't know about that.. LOL

4. Colleen Gaglione gave us a turkey baster when we went down last April. We left it in room 2 (left hand side of the closet-- dig deep). Since it's Thanksgiving, you may use it-- it's never been used. :)

5. If you go to Cartagena (which I recommend), I recommend our tour guide "David". You'll have to pick him yourselves though... at the Cartagena Nursing Home Manor. Any night will do except for Bingo night every Thursday.

Well, God bless and Buen viaje!
