Hi Paula and the rest of the Covelli Family! It's Marilyn and I'm finally getting around to signing your guest book. I can tell that California suites you well. I think of you often (especiallly when I'm watching Dancing with the Stars or America Idol). Boy if we were back at JT we'd be having some great conversations over reality TV. Once again, my person came in 2nd in Survivor so once again I came that close to winning the office pool. I did win the pool for Celebrity Aprentice. That was a nice 70 bucks even though I didn't really like Pierce and thought Trace should have won. My Mom used to get in the pools, too. If it wasn't one of my people coming in 2nd, it was one of hers. She never got to win. Oh well. I have to tell you, she used to love when I'd show her your updates. She always thought your kids were adorable. She'd be amazed if she saw them now. They're getting to be so grown up. Paula, you and Ron have done a great job with them. They always look so happy. I hope you send some dance recitel photos when you get them. I'd love to see them. Hope all is well with you. Keep in touch! Miss ya! Love, Marilyn

Hi Paula, Ron, Isabel and Samuel: Well, I loved the Christmas picture, thank you so much for sending it to me. It is still on my dresser mirror so I see those beautiful faces each and every day! They do make me laugh. I am so happy to see that you all are enjoying California - it certainly is a beautiful place to live and what a wonderful experience for you and your adorable children. Today as I write, it is a balmy 15 degrees in Buffalo - makes you want to run right back, huh Paula?!?!? While reading your Christmas entry to the journal, I couldn't help but think of how happy your Mom is to see you and your growing family - I am sure that she has had some influence, it's funny how life works.....I can tell you that she is missed each and every day at Smith Barney and I still cannot go into the copy room without thinking of her pushing us all out of the way!!! Rude, but adorable, that's our Millie!! It appears that you are taking in all of the beautiful things that California has to offer - what a great place to live! I think of you often, and hope that all is well! Much love, Pam DiGrace

Enjoy those beautiful children and be thankful for every cluttered, chaotic moment - they are truly gifts from above. Hope to see you soon! Love, Pam DiGrace

Ron, Paula, Isabel and Samuel,
Welcome home! It was such an honor to be a part of a truley amazing moment in your lives last night. When Isabel came running down the corridor and then we seen that little blue hat and sweater, chills went completely through us. Pictures dont do Samuel justice, he is such a handsome little boy. That smile of his melted our hearts. Isabel looked so happy to be home and to be going to "her house." You have been blessed with two beautiful, amazing children. We can't wait to see you again...

Hugs and Kisses to the ever growing Covelli family! Everytime I read an entry to the journal, I feel( as I did when you adopted Isabel) that Paula missed her calling...she should be a writer! Paula, your descriptions have me salivating over the food and picturing Isa and Sam bonding as siblings! Sam is beautiful and the picture of Isa kissing Sam is a keeper...you can bring it out when Isa starts to be annoyed with her "little brother" as they grow older! Paula, I had a problem with my ear on my last trip to Hilton Head and I was told to take a VERY hot, wet cloth (like a washcloth) and stuff it into a cup or mug and then place that over your ear. Continue to warm up the cloth as it cools off. This seemed to alleviate the pressure by opening up my ear and it felt SO much better! I know the pain can be excruciating!!! Well, I look so forward to seeing the updates, reading about your progress and vicariously shopping and eating with you! Lots of love, Maureen Maskrey

Joey wants to know what gym Samuel is working out at (his biceps look ripped!!!!). The pictures are wonderful, but I only saw three - we want more. I also think it's great that he is sleeping so well. That will be a big help when you all come home. Sammy has the most wonderful smile. He must get a kick out of his big sister running around! Hi Covelli Family of 4!

Let me bring you up to spead with the general membership meeting.

First we started off the meeting by volunteering you to be the golf chairs for the next 2 years and then we decided to change the name of the bags back to golfer goodie bags. See what happens when you miss just one meeting. Of course I am only kidding. However, I do think you guys would make great golf chairs and you did just get that beautiful baby boy. Is the guilt working?

Getting serious, the meeting went well. Paul presented Jerri with a plaque from all of us celbrating her 20 years with our group. I could not think of a better person to honor. They are also dedicating this years golf tournament to her 20 years as our leader and founder. IF that does not make us work to make this years golf tournament a success nothing will. There is only one Jerri and we are sure blessed to have her.

There was plenty of pizza and I made sure I had at least a piece for both of you. All in all, except for the Sabres losing, it was a good meeting and I think everyone left energized for this years tournament.

Enjoy your time in Bogota and we will talk to you soon.

God Bless,

Dave (Shari, Justin & Jordan too) <dpanderson923@msn.com>

We are so happy for you guys. I have to admit that I'm very jealous that I'm missing the Club Colombia runs to Carulla with Ron. I remember the bathroom situation from room 2 very well --- and you just thought we were exhibitionists. We had a blast with you guys last time and wish you another great and safe trip.

Congratulations Ron and Paula!!!!! What a beautiful baby boy you have. If you ever need any boy tips, have Paulette call me; I have 4 of them!!!!!!!! Boys are mischievious, love the great outdoors (such as worms, bugs, ants etc. and think they should all have a special place in their room!!),mud/dirt, and puddles! As Isabell tries to play princess with sam, he will try to play cops and robbers with her!! Good luck with your new family, all so beautiful and so lucky. God bless, and have a safe return home. -Michelle Drewiega (paulette's other sister!!)

Paula, Ron, Isabel and Samuel,

The pictures were worth the wait. What a great looking family of 4 you make. You can tell that Isabel is going to be a great big sister.

Now Ron, as for Paula not spending as much with 2 kids, knowing Paula, it will just take her a little while to figure out how to do it with 2 kids.

Looking forward to reading about your adventures in Colombia.

God Bless and enjoy your time in Bogota. Just about what everyone is doing down there makes us want to go back, this time just for a visit.

Hi Sam and Isabel,

Well Sam, you really got things excited in the Covelli house, not that Isabel is not exciting. Mom and Dad were just getting use to the kid thing, and here comes Sam.
I can wait to see you and your sister together. When she comes at you with a toy, either get your hands up or duck.
I brought everyone, and everything, to the airport, and WOW, I can believe ther coming back with more. I think they should leave everything in Columbia and just bring You and Isabel back.
By now you have seen you new family and they are awsome. You are the luckiest kid in the world. You Mom and Dad are the best, and will love you soooo much. Your sister is the coolest, and wait till you meet all your family and friends, we are all waiting.
Well, I gotta get back to work. So Keep Smiling, and be good, you too Isabel.
PS, Isabel, Make sure you tell Mom its all good !!!!

Hugs and Kisses

Wow!!!! What wonderful news! And we absolutely LOVE the name "Samuel" (Miguel Covelli)! We just know that our "Samuel" and your "Samuel" will be great friends!

The judge in Bogota was signing Sentencia (for Elena, of course) while little "Samuel-Miguel" was making his earthly debut! We had just arrived home from Villa De Leyva and everyone at Betty's cheerfully announced "Sentencia"! Just think as we were hearing those words shouted at us, your beautiful boy was shouting some of his own "baby terms" as the "stork" landed him in Santa Fe de Bogota! Way cool!

God truly had predestined for Samuel to be with you long before Samuel had been conceived, long before you, Ron or even your mother had heard of "FANA". Samuel has been on God's mind since the beginning of time. Don't ever forget that. He's yours by God's divine appointment. :)

Blesings on you and your beautiful family,

Hello Isabell,
My name is Karen, I cared for your Bubba the past 3 years or so. You're Bubba was such a joy to be around. I really learned a lot from her in the short time I knew her. I really wish I had more time with her. But I must say the time I did have will be treasured forever.
I remember when you're parents left for Columbia they set up a computer in Bubba's family room. With this computer they set up a website and posted pictures of you on it daily. Every morning when I came in the first thing I would do is move the mouse so you're Bubba and I could see what picture was posted for the day.(I really looked forward to seeing you're photos). We would smile and say oh how precious she is, Bubba would say isn't she the most beautiful baby you ever saw? I would have to agree, indeed you were the most beautiful baby I had ever seen (well except for my Heidi). Bubba would talk to you as if you were right beside her. This went on everyday until you came home.
Bubba had pictures of you all over the house. Yes even on the kitchen table. She always said good morning to you and said how much she loved you and how beautiful you were. And yes once again I agreed. (I had to or else she wouldn't exercise for me then you're mommi would be mad and then it would just get ugly).
You're Bubba talked about you everyday she could never get enough of you. I always enjoyed listening to her.
She will always be with you, you are her #1 angel.
Well precious I have to go know but I will write again. I plenty of stories to tell you.

Dear Paula,

I'm typing this with tears in my eyes after reading your beautiful tribute to your Mom. I'm so glad I got to spend some time with her & I enjoyed being with her. Though she was taken from you too soon, you are so lucky to have had such quality time with her, and that she could be with Isabel. Your Mom sure beat all the odds, and hung on to life as long as she possibly could.

Knowing the kind of person your Mom was, she will be missed very much. But, as you said, someday you'll all be together again.

Please know that you & yours are in my prayers.

Love & hugs,
Bev

Paula and Ron,
There are no words that we can say to ease your pain. The story you wrote to Isabel was beautiful. Although we never met your mother, your words made us feel as though we knew her. Paula you are following in your moms footsteps with being a mom. I am sure she is very proud of you.

Isabel, We remember when mommy and daddy were waiting for you. All we could ever talk about was how much your Bubba wanted to see you and hold you. Well sweetie, although it wasn't for a long period of time, she did get to see your beautiful, smiley face. Even though she will not be here in body, she will forever be here in spirit and most important, in your heart. As you get older and hear stories of her, you will be very proud of who she was - YOUR BUBBA.

Love, Shawn, Denise and Shawn

Dear Isabel,
Your mother's tribute to her mommy (your Bubba) is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. Although I am so sad for all of you, I am happy that you were able to know Bubba for 19 months. She will now be a part of the person you will become. You will also be proud of your own mother at the way she loved and cared for her. You will know one day how hurtful and painful it has been. You are loved beyond measure!! We love you too.

Happy Halloween, you little cutie pie. I love seeing you in your banana costume. (Shayna sometimes calls me Nana Banana! (Otherwise she just calls me Nana) I'll look forward to hearing all about your trick or treating experience; you definitely won't sleep through it this year!

I hope to get to see you when I'm in Buffalo in a few weeks. I'll be there for Thanksgiving. (the last time I'll get to stay at the "Whitelaw Hotel"!!)

We recently bought a new house. It's being built &we're supposed to have our walk through on or about Dec. 20th; that's when the target date is for its completion. Exciting, to say the least! Our present house is up for sale, but so far no great interest has been shown. It's been on the market for 3 1/2 weeks, so we do have time. Ideally, we'd like to have it sell soon & then rent back from the new owners. (that would be in a "perfect world", huh?)

Happy shopping!!!!!

Don't get scared by all those ghosts & goblins, etc.!

Love,

Love your costume! And I did not know that the second largest export of Colombia is bananas. Have a good time on Halloween. If your parents try to limit your candy intake, remind them that chocolate is an important part of banana splits!

Hi Isabel,
Well, where do I start. It's halloween and some crazy things happen this time of year. I would agree that the banana wouldn't be my first choice, but your very lucky. Your Mami and Papi have had there share of crazy costumes. Your Papi was a princess once.
Ask them to show you, and if they don't, when you grow up I will give you pictures of both of them that will get you ANYTHING you want if they know you have pictures.
Halloween is very fun, lots of good sticky, chewie stuff. Make sure you eat all you can, and touch all the nice stuff around your house to see if it sticks to your hands when your eating your candy. Gotta go, so have fun trick or treating and we will see you soon.
Hugs and Kisses

Isabel that banana costume was perfect but heck as you get old enough and go through all the pics that mami and papi took you're going to think your parents are crazy - LOL You are getting cuter everytime I see you. Hopefully next time (FANA Picnic in July) we'll be able to have a conversation and drive mami and papi crazy from running all over the place.

Isn't the fruit awesome !!! I eat my apples the same way you do, it's sooo cool to hold it and walk around the house, I won't sit in my highchair and eat it.

To let you know being two is hard cause mami and papi won't let me have it my way they are always putting me into the time-out chair - YUK YUK

Well that's it for now I really want to go and play and hope you have a Happy and safe Halloween !!!

Hi Miss "1" year old,
It's Uncle Tom. Well, what a party !!! Everything was great.
Your cousins, especially Maria, thought she was in the TV with Dora. Dora eveywhere... She's cool. Don't tell Aunt Paulette, but My favorite in "The MAP" even though I never use one, It's a guy thing... kinda like the television thing. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed all the fun at your party. Birthdays are great, even if the paparizzi showed up.
I'll bet your still seeing big white lights in front of your eyes. Picture flashes and video cameras eveywhere.
Jenna and Leah said their gonna help you learn to eat cake better. You didn't get enough up you nose or in your hair.
That's easy to fix. I'll show you how to throw it too. It makes Birthdays more fun. Well I gotta go, say hi to MOM and DAD for us, and see ya soon.
Hugs and Kisses

You are such a gorgeous little girl and growing up too fast !! I'm sure by now you are exploring alot of things and want to try to get into them. Right now Nathan is 15 months old and boy is he into everything and wants to throw alot of things in the garbage !!! He went to get his x-mas pics done at picture people and he would not sit still for a second or smile !!! So needless to say we didn't get very good pics compare to last x-mas when we brought him home. He has 8 teeth and two molars are trying to come in. Loves to eat, there is not a thing that I can think of that he doesn't like, oh, wait a minute he's not a BIG fan with milk, it's very hard to get him to drink milk and that is the most important for his diet !!! Anyways you keep busy and drive your parents crazy and have a wonderful First Christmas and a Happy New Year's !!!

Hi Isabel,

Thank you for writing to me on my website. I am so glad that I was able to meet you at the Halloween party. You looked so cute!!!! I was at your homecoming, but I wasn't able to really meet you then because of the huge crowd you had around you. Besides, you looked really afraid of all those people!!! I know what you mean. I felt the same way when my mommy and daddy brought me home!!! Well anyway, I had a really fun time at the Halloween party and like I said, it was great to see you again. Don't worry about Sergianni and yourself fighting for my attention. There is plenty of me to go around to all of you!!! I just love to look at your pictures when my mommy opens your web page. You really are a cutie!!!! My mommy really isn't Snow White, but I just humor her and let her think she is. My daddy thinks he is SpongeBob. I know that he really isn't, because SpongeBob lives in a pineapple under the sea and works at the Crabby Patty. My daddy doesn't live under the sea and I know for a fact he works downtown because my mommy brings me there to have lunch with him once in awhile. And they say us kids play pretend?!?!?!?! I can't wait to see you again. I really hope we don't wait until next year's family picnic though. My mommy is going to call your mommy and we are going to come to Buffalo to visit you. Maybe we can meet up at the mall and do some Christmas shopping. I have heard about this Christmas shopping thing and it sounds like we are going to be getting alot of presents very soon!!! I did see them setting up Santa's workshop at the mall last week. Did you hear about this Santa character?? I am sure your mommy and daddy will tell you all about him and they probably will make you sit on his lap at the mall and get your picture taken with him too!!! I guess it won't be that bad, after all, we will be getting some pretty cool toys, right?!?!
Oh well, gotta go. My mommy wants me to eat some lunch. I just woke up from my nap.

Take care and I hope we will see each other soon!!!!
Respectfully
Hugs and Kisses!!!

Well Isabel, I must tell you I am very sorry I haven't written in a while, so I should catch up with you.
We have been over to see you a couple times, Jenna, Leah, and Maria just love you so much. Your Baptism was very special, and I will be the BEST Godfather in the world for you. It means so much to me, and I can't tell you how proud I am, and how honored I am that your Mom and Dad trust me with such an important responsibility. Your Mom made lunch for me and your Dad today, and it was delicious (and no meat). Thanks Paula!! Me and your Dad work at the same place and we have lunch together all the time. Did I tell you, he talks about you all the time, and he has some great pictures of you on his desk. Aunt Paulette and your Mom talk alot too. You should know this, and believe me it is the truth... ever since Mom and Dad got you, it's been non stop... you are what they live for, and the love is never ending. You are responsible for turning my brother and sister-in-law into two of the most loving and proud parents on the planet, so keep up the good work !!! Well time to sign off, and I'm sad about your teeth hurting, but when you eat and get the sweet potatos and green peas all over your chin and hands, rub it all over your ears and in your hair, it will make your teeth feel better.
Hugs and Kisses

Dear Isabel,
We want you to know how blessed we feel to have you in our FANA family. Your brave, patient and dignified parents went to the other end of the earth to find their precious daughter because she (you) were and are so very special to them. Please always know that words cannot describe how much your mommy and daddy love you. Seeing you Isabel in your mom's arms at the airport last Wednesday night was a reminder to us of all that is good in this universe. We look forward to growing as parents alongside your mom and dad and the so many other FANA people in our lives.

God bless you. With love, the Antonios

WOW !!! The airport was unbelievable !!!!!
There were 3 flights that landed just before you, while we were all crowded around the exit.

You wouldn't believe how many people wanted to know who this "Isabel" was. Balloons, signs, cameras, video cameras everywhere, and your flight was an hour late. The anticipation was incredible. Finally, It was like a rock star had entered the airport. The cheers and screaming, the tears of joy and every heart tugging emotion, all deserving of the occasion. The paparizzi went wild !!! There were now tissues everywhere. It was truely a home comming and a welcome fit for your little queen.

A new journey has just begun, and you'll figure all the new gadgets out, like how to buckle a car seat....ha ha. We are so glad we have taken this first journey with you, from finding out the night at the Gala, to the pictures and journal and finally the arrival of Isabel and the return of a new Mom and Dad. It has absolutely been incredible.

We would like to extend our heartfelt THANK YOU to FANA and all the people associated with FANA for helping add another branch to the Til and Covelli family trees. A branch on our trees, that now have deep roots extending throughout the FANA family. Isabel will grow, flourish and blossom before our eyes, with the love of all three families.

We THANK YOU for making this miracle called Isabel happen !!

Dear Isabel:

The word for the day is "anagram". An anagram is a word or a phrase formed by rearranging the letters of another word or phrase. For example:

ELVIS ---> LIVES (across the street from Dida & Baba)

SLOT MACHINES ---> CASH LOST IN 'EM (Warn Baba)

GEORGE W. BUSH ---> HE GREW BOGUS (Hmmmmmm)

MOTHER-IN-LAW ---> WOMAN HITLER (Tell Daddy to stop laughing)

Let's not forget everyone's favorite......

ISABEL COVELLI ---> LOVABLE SLICE, I (It's so you)

C-ya Wednesday.

to be at the airport on WED because I work 'til 7pm and if you remember how it is, you never get out on time when it's
closing time. I will be thinking about you and will keep all of you in my prayers. Have a safe trip home to start your new life together as a family. Love, Marilyn

I can't stop crying tears of joy for you guys!!! What a precious, beautiful baby girl Isabel is, and you 3 are so meant to be a forever family. We will all see you soon!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! have fun signing!

Sweet Isabel, we cannot wait to meet you in person! We are delighted you are coming home next week! Unfortunately, we can't be there at the airport to greet you as we will be exploring the great Canadian wilderness, but we look forward to seeing you as soon as we can!
Ron and Paula - although she has been your baby girl since the beginning of time, the lawyers all agree she is now YOURS! Congratulations! A little word of experience: time before baby creeps by; once you get home, one day you'll turn around and she'll be three, almost four, and you'll try to fold her up into your lap for a hug and a rock-a-bye, but she just won't fit! BUT, she will always be your sweet baby girl.

How awsome is this news !!!!!
I know I've told you this before, and after seeing all the pics and reading todays journal, everyone reading this should know.

It is so obvious that Isabel loves both of you. In a few short weeks we have seen changes in her all because of her Mom and Dad. You will see things change in her that are truely miracles as you start your new family at home.

Everyday she will grow into this little person that will be a reflection of the both of you. Isabel will develop all the qualities that you will give her. Paula, she will be caring and sensitive, understanding, brave and femine. Ron she will be strong, reliable, gentle and wise. All these things make up who you guys are, and you will pass them on to your daughter, who depends on you so much right now. You will see these changes, ever so gentle in the way she looks at you everyday. Isabel, you have wonderful parents, that will keep you safe when it thunders, will hold you when you cry, and make you smile and laugh when you are sad. I know this because they are my brother and sister, they will be your guiding light in darkness, your stable ship in rough seas, your comfort in times of need. Isabel, you are their miracle, and they will tell you everyday with all the love they have for you, but your Mom and Dad are also very special, just like you.

As you grow and meet all the people that have followed your story, you will learn and hear things about your parents that amaze you. You will learn how lucky you truely are.

So, Covelli Family, be safe and God Bless.

Hugs and Kisses

Dear Isabel:

From today's pictures, it looks like "yellow" is your favorite color. When mommy & daddy bring you home, I am going to introduce you to another cute little person who, not only likes yellow but, is yellow.... SpongeBob SquarePants. In the meantime, ask mommy and daddy to teach you the "SpongeBob Song". It goes like this....

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.

Absorbing, yellow and porous is he.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.

If nautical nonsense is something you wish.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.

Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS. SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS. SPONGEBOOOOOOOOB SQUAREPANTS!!!!!!

Ron, I am so sorry that I never warned you of the inevitable shopping sprees our wives make while in good ole Bogota. Last year Mark Steinkirchner (from PA) and I had many a chats over our wive's shopping habits.

BTW, when we returned home, I noticed there was a surchage for every purchase made in Colombia. Apparently, many credit card companies tack these on. There must have been a total of $32 in surchages alone. A quick phone call to the Master Card and Visa companies threatening to cancell my account changed their tune quickly and all those nasty surchages immediately evaporated from my statement!

Be prepared to complain... and enjoy the purchases as they cha-ching on in.

With deep EMPATHY,
Sam Antonio (and Mark Steinkirchner)

I received notification today from the Colombian Economic Ministry stating that our previous world records for shopping in Colombia have not only been eclipsed, but shattered - like Michael Phelps in the pool, Paula seems to be rewriting what it means to shop in Bogota. I agree with the definition of TORTURE, Ron.

More U.S.T. (useless stinkin' trivia): The flags of Colombia and of Ecuador have the same colors - yellow (double width), blue & red. The coat of arms of Ecuador is super imposed on its flag.

Does that make the Colombian flag a generic version of Ecuador's flag?

The picture of ISABEL laughing could only come from one thing..... Ron must have told her our favorite joke.... you know, the one where a horse walks into a bar...... and the bartender looks at him and asks "hey buddy , why the long face ?"
The photos are great.... we look foward to checking them out every evening. There is only 1 problem. I'm afraid that we are now spoiled and will need a new photo every day , even after you get back to sunny Buffalo !

Some useless stinkin' trivia (U.S.T.): Colombia is the only country in South America with coasts on both the Pacific Ocean and on the Caribbean Sea.

Dear fam,
We love the collage. Way to go, Isabel already has a photo history and the two of you look like the perfectly groomed parents. We shared a few laughs and the family joy with your mom and dad yesterday, Paula. In addition to the holy pictures, there are now pictures of Isable all around the house. Marianne can't wait to see Isabel in running shoes, with SHOE LACES, of course. Some family traditions must be kept alive, don't you agree? The crayons and colouring books are also ready. Ron, now you know why soccer rules around the world. You can interpret practically everything that goes on in politics through soccer. Good thing women's soccer is now on the scene as well - something to get Isable ready for. Just imagine the sports headlines in a decade and a half or so: "Isabel Covelli, U.S. centre forward!" Keep well, and God bless.

On every black cat's "To Do" list today: 1. Walk across a human's path 2. Get the mouse. For you guys, the number 13 is lucky. Count 13 letters in ISABEL COVELLI and her middle name MARIA starts withe the letter "M", the 13th letter in the alphabet. So, no need for you to suffer from "triskaidekaphobia" (fear of the number 13). I know. I have too much free time!

Through years of waiting, hoping, praying, God granted our gift of love. Through months of charts and endless nights of trying, God sent you from above. How many nights I lay there.Your father close beside me, Our hearts joined together in the simple prayer. That God would let you be.
We love you so much, our child, For the miracle you are.
We wished for you for so long,Till God sent you from afar.
You are the proof of our love, your father and I, And of God's love for us. The child we were told we couldn't have. God's Blessing. A gift in love and trust.
She is truly a gift from heaven to two deserving parents!
Love, Jim and Diana

Nice job on the entire birthday thing Ron ! It sounds like you may indeed be driving around in Gary Violanti's old Dodge Dart...... It was a beauty, Dodge Dart Swinger , army green , slant six , three speed on the column. His had a nice hole in the floor that was great for keeping us hot in the summer and frozen in the winter haha. Its the same car that somehow started itself up and went for a short ride in a parking lot at U.B. one morning.... yup , it was a real beauty!
We are thinking about you guys all the time. Your pictures and journal entries are the number one topic at the dinner table. Keep up the good work...

Dear Paula and Ron,

I remember everytime I saw you guys at all the golf, etc. meetings, you were so enthusiastic yet in that weird state of anxiousness, waiting and waiting for what seemed like forever to hear some good news. Paula, the expression on your face in that last picture says it all - isn't it amazing? And now can you even remember a time when beautiful Isabel wasn't such a complete and total part of you? It's like all those months of waiting are erased from your memory in a single second.
Isabel is lovely, and I wish you the best in this incredible adventure.
Fondly,

PAULA and RON,

I was honored and privileged to present Isabel to you and I’ll cherish that moment forever. In Colombia that means our Simón has secured the first place in the long line of suitors and Isabel will always have a home in Bogotá or wherever life takes us. Next time Beatriz or anyone asks Ron how many FANA children he has, he may proudly answer: “one, for the time being…” and we hope to be there when her siblings arrive. FANA does its best to find the “right” family for every kid; baby Isabel is a very lucky child to get parents like you two. Enjoy the sleepless nights and the diaper changes and remember, it’s only tough the first fifty years!.

Love from Isabel’s Colombian Tío and Tía,

Alonso & Beatriz

Paula and Ron,
Barbara and I are sooooo excited for you. You have waited so long and so patiently. You both have displayed such a positive attitude throughout this process. But as you look at your beautiful Isabel, you know now that she was indeed worth the wait.

Some travel tips for you guys:
1) Get a good battery for your camcorder!!!
2) If your battery dies, have Jorge Rico take you to San Andrecito for a new one-- a hot one-- but a new one.
3) Throw your Atkins book out the window-- you're going to the Carb-capital of the world--- enjoy!
4) The BEST rooms at Betty's (in order of preference) are room #1, #2, and the one with a fire-place.
5) Don't overpack! Barbara and I looked like two Colombian refugees when we got off the plane. Pack light.
6) Start saving up for Isabel's and Sammy's wedding. Barbara and I have already booked Wanakah for the rehearsal dinner in 2029. Pick a nice place for the reception. LOL
7) Enjoy being pampered-- because reality sets in when you return to your Orchard Park home without Betty's accommodating staff. "Where's dinner?"-Now that's real culture shock!

We love you guys! You have been truly blessed.

Ron, Paula, and Baby Isabel...
We are so happy for you! Isabel is a beautiful little girl! We had the pleasure of meeting Paula's godfather last night -- he was beaming about the prospect of your new arrival before you even knew that she would arrive last night! What a wonderful event for everyone! We're so glad we've had the chance to get to know you during your family journey. Isabel...you have two very special people as your parents! Godspeed on your trip to Colombia. Enjoy the culture, the shopping, the food, and, most importantly, your precious Isabel.
