We think so much of you and haven't even met you. :) We think of you every time we look at Stella's blanket that you sent. I am just so happy to know that there are families out there that are willing to help other families with sma. There is one thing that I have learned though, this is not something that I had ever heard about since my nephew was diagnoised with it. I think that is very troubling, and there needs to be so much more done to get this out to people, and I would love to help with that.

I just examined your web sites. So many beautiful children and no way to cure now. I am mother of almost two years-old Sara (SMA 1). I remember this situation - I was at hospital with my daughter and I told the doctors: I hope, that the God help us and my baby will have a chance to cure, I will do for it everything. And the doctors start to laugh and they told me:" Are you living in any illusions and imaginations? "They were convinced that my daughter die and they had no interest to help us.
They were so ugly.It was very hard there but we stayed there "just" one month and then I took my baby home, I arranged instruments like exhauster, oxymeter, pulmonary ventilator...
It is amazing, that B4SMA is so nice to families with SMA especially children with SMA, their activity help us live because we know that we have somebody who stays by us. Thank you

This is such a awesome thing that you are doing for these children. Just remember God blesses those who bless others, and when two or more gather in prayer God WILL awnser that prayer. Its just hard to except that the awnsers we sometimes get are not always the ones we want. So we will keep praying for his will to be done and one day there will be a cure for this and all childhood diseases. Thanks for caring so much and showing so much dedication.

hello everybody,
maybe you'll remember my son kelsey*, he passed away november 29th last year (sma type 1).
16 september he would become 2 years old. there is going to be a party, here on earth, but also in heaven!
kelsey*'s uncle made a great birthday page!
you can throw all kinds of presents to the clouds... all of "bumba". bumba is a little clown, very famous in belgium!! and kelsey* is his biggest fan!
maybe you would like to come and visit the birthday page? and perhaps throw a little present to the clouds? kelsey*'d love that... and his family too!!!!! Take www.kelsey.be and click on the number 2 and then click "kadootje" (that means "present")... and after you filled all in you can admire all the thrown presents on the play-cloud by clicking "speelwolk"
and i'm pretty sure that my son will play together with all the other little angels up there!
i hope kelsey* will be in your thoughts on 16th september... we still miss our little son so much... but we're so glad we can do this for him!!
THANKS!!!!

I actually looked in the dictionary and I could find NO WORDS to describe what "we" (all of "us" "out here") feel for you, MJ and Brenda, and all your family. As "we" look at our little ones wrapped in your blankets, the love overflows .... the warm, wonderful love sewed into each blanket .... the thankful feelings for having you in our lives .... the respect and admiration for you ... the humble feelings .... each of us feel the love that flows from you .... across the internet .... right into these little one's hearts .... I think that I speak for many people when I say that I love you dearly .... I love you more than I could ever find words to describe and I KNOW that Sophia "knows" you .... and she already loves you .... and someday .... someday .... she will be able to tell you that face to face.

Hi MJ,

I'm the grandmother to Kelsey*. Thanks again for visiting Kelsey*'s website a few weeks ago. What a loving idea to make blankets for sma-kids. It's a wonderful website. You and Brenda are doing such a great job for newly diagnosed families! Our Kelsey*-boy passed away on 29/11/05 (sma 1) but I'm sure he would loved this B4SMA. I certainly hope there will be some day no need for these blankets.

Many hugs,
Yvette, grandmother to Kelsey*

Hi,
Great website.
SMA is very much in the news in the UK this week as the parents of baby MB have had to go to the High Court to try to get treatment that the doctors want to stop.
My son is four and type II and so we are all waiting for the ruling.
You can see the case on the JTSMA web site

WHAT A GREAT IDEA. I HAVE A 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER (KELLY) WITH SMA TYPE II. WHEN SHE GOES INTO THE HOSPITAL, SHE LOVES TO BRING HER SPECIAL BLANKET, EVEN THOUGH SHE IS 13 YRS OLD. AT NIGHT I HAVE TO TUCK HER IN AND PUT PART OF THE SOFT BLANKET ON HER CHEEK. I ALSO SUGGEST A VERY LIGHT QUILT, AS YOU KNOW THESE CHILDREN CANNOT MOVE VERY WELL, AND MY LITTLE KELLY WOULD RATHER FREEZE, THAN PUT A HEAVY BLANKET ON. WELL KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND GOD BLESS PEOPLE LIKE YOU FOR HELPING KIDS WITH SMA.....

(At the risk of being repetative, I have used this intro for Logan at several sites, and will probably do so again, in places we haven't been yet.)
Hello, all, my name is Matt. My son, Logan Watts, is 17 months old, and was diagnosed at 10+ months with SMA Type II/ I, for whatever that category actually defines. My wife, Deborah and I, live with her two children (Sean, Logan's big Brother is 16, and Alicia, his Sister, is 12....arrrgh, teen-agers!!)
and Logan. Our house is in Manchester, New Hampshire in the U.S. My step kids love their little brother, and we all work to keep the little man happy and comfortable in our own ways and means.
Logan and I have just gotten home from our first admission to a hospital. @47 days at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, New Hampshire (@90 minutes from Home). I stayed with him for the whole admission, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. He was, however, outfitted with a tracheotomy, a G-Tube, and a near full time ventilator, along with a plethora of other devices. Fortunately, my Boss is the most understanding guy on the face of the Earth; I can't take a vacation day without a huge battle, but he paid me part time and fully supported me for staying at the hospital with Logan, and this allowed me some extensive hands-on training for his equipment. This is good, as all this stuff falls somewhere between the complexity of rocket science and Brain surgery, lol.
Needless to say, stress and emotions run a VERY broad range, and it's tough to be optimistic, but my sense of humor has persevered, to some extent, as has my Son's wonderful personality. My wife may or may not choose to post here, as it's still a very difficult subject for her, tough as she may be. I'll be using this account I started for Logan, but I'll be sure to identify myself when posting, as will Deb. Let me close by saying if I had half the tenacity he does, bullets would bounce off me. He’s definitely a little trooper, in my humble opinion.
