Hello! Well, we've been home since April 19th, and things are gradually getting into a routine. Matthew is now six months old and is doing just great. He still has the same sweet temperament he had when we got him and David and I are doing our best not to mess that up!

Now he is able to sit up unassisted, (so long as we put him into position), grab our utensils off the table, and he yells and shrieks for no other reason than to see which sound generates the most interesting response. The shrieking is particularly fun at the grocery store - I think I may try it myself - maybe it will get me through the line up quicker.

We are also enjoying colourful and animated food explosions. He is on solids and let me tell you, you haven't lived until you have fed a 6 month old something bright orange and gooey. The experience has leant a whole new meaning to "dressing for dinner".

Also, after much drooling and gnawing, he now has two teeth, side by side, at the front of his bottom row - so cute.

My mother came out from England to visit for 3 weeks in June and it was wonderful to see her interact with Matthew. At 80 something, and with a recently broken wrist, I was wondering if she would be able to make the journey. Mum is very much pro-adoption. One morning over breakfast, she suddenly proclaimed, "You know Angie, I think the whole biological thing is entirely over rated"!! Seriously, it was one of the sweetest moments in my life witnessing my mother meet Matthew for the first time.

On David's side of the family it has been just as heartwarming. It was wonderful seeing Sue and Ross, David's parents, hold Matthew for the first time at the airport when we arrived from Bogota. We were also pleasantly surprised to see the Henry family there, from Whitby, Canada, who managed to make the trip to meet us, despite the short notice.

So, we have been going out to the park and to the lake for walks most days. I LOVE being off work. As much as I enjoy my job, it is priceless being able to spend so much time with Matthew and we get out most days. I feel so intensely satisfied now that he is in our lives. And nothing makes me happier than going for a walk with friends, family or with David.

The pictures we've posted to the site were taken within the last few days - we think they capture the essence of our little one.

Until our next update.

Angela
