We are Theresa, Michael and Anna Yamasaki. We are excited to start our journey and very happy that you are visiting our site. Just to let you know about us, Michael and I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico about 13 years ago from Honolulu, Hawaii. Michael is from Honolulu. He was raised in Honolulu but born in Japan. I had moved from my home of Louisville, Kentucky to Hawaii back in 1988. It was quite an experience living and working in Hawaii and of course meeting my beloved Michael. I am a Mammography technologist and work PART time for Breast Imaging at X Ray Assoc. of NM here in Albuquerque and Michael is a full time engineering tech at Advent Solar. We started our married life here in Albuquerque in 1995 and were very blessed in 1998 to be able to have our one and only biological child Anna. She is now 9.
We have wanted to grow our family and give Anna a sibling. Trying to do that has been a difficult journey to say the least. From reproductive endocrinologists to acupuncture to heparin injections and more...been there, done that. We believe that God is showing us another way through adoption. We believe that he will show us the way...every step of the way through our journey. Please feel free to read the journal entries and look at photos. Be sure to add our site to your favorites list and check back to see where we are in the process. Your support is appreciated and welcomed.
Please remember to sign our guest book!!
Thanks!!

Journal

Saturday, June 13, 2009 7:37 AM CDT

Today is 6/13/09...saturday morning and my sweet children are asleep. Wanted to post to say that we recently took Malia to a social worker/child specialist to be evaluated for some of her behaviors that we have witnessed in the last 3-6 months. Malia can get quite angry at times, bossy and controlling and I noticed that she has what i think might be "anxious attachment" b/c when something new or "out of her control" enters into the day, she clings to me for dear life. The social worker witnessed her playing and told me that Malia is doing "ok" and that there are some tips that she can give us to deal with her when she gets "oppositional" and boy can she be oppositional at times. Part of it is her personality but some of it is some deep feelings of insecurity that I think she has. She has been through a lot of changes in her short little life so change is not something that she likes. Over all per the soc worker, she is not too bad compared to some other children that she treats. Michael and I want to help Malia be happy and healthy and to feel loved and safe.
...more to come later.....
Theresa
