Enlighten my mind that I may understand what to tell my children when it is necessary to give them direction or advice. Give me good judgment to understand true spiritual values and to guide my family in your ways. The world makes little of your wisdom and is not instructed in your ways, and close contact with the world makes it easy to become dulled to the things of solid spiritual worth. Be my guide at all times, that I may be a true father and husband, sensitive always to the divine wisdom that only you can impart. God, by the light of the Holy Spirit you instruct the hearts of your faithful. Grant that I may be truly wise and ever enjoy his consolation, through Christ our Lord. Amen. It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking . . . It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns, And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems . . . It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation, And it still remains a secret like the mysteries of creation . . . We're praying and routing really hard that Kelly gets rid of the fever and gets out of there fast! Hopefully you won't have to go to Sloan. I know Sloan hospital stays are long, no one knows that better than John. But they really are the best at what they do, so sometimes we're better off there. Go Away Fever!!!! Margaret and John http://www.caringbridge.org/nj/johnlapolla/ <Msampson@comcast.net> - Sunday, February 4, 2007 11:11 AM CST Hey Kelly Girl Hope you find some answers when you visit the clinic tomorrow. Hope you are feeling good and gaining back some weight. Try this...Edys has a new flavor ice cream. It's Girl Scout Samoa cookie flavor! Maria <mariaborsch@aol.com> Flushing, NY USA - Friday, January 26, 2007 3:44 PM CST Hi Kelly & Therese: John went through the losing too much weight battle, so we know how frustrating it is. He wound up getting a G-tube and it was the best thing. However that doesn't mean you will. Everyone is so different. Things have turned around so much. John had to go back on steroids because of the BOOP (lungs). He has gained so much weight back that now he's trying to lose weight :) He is also feeling the best he's felt in a long time. Just trying to remind you that "this too shall pass" and you'll be out of that hospital in no time. We're certainly praying for that!!! Hang in there. Has the RMH begun to undo Christmas yet or not? What are the plans for New Years? I don't know if you find the holidays hard, but looking at a new year, it is a time for optimism, hope and expectation for a truly "new year" and that is our prayer for you, for Taylor, for Bailee, for everyone at RMH; that 2006 will be the best of all years! We'll take a crappy year in exchange for a great year for you all. Sooooo, we'll toast you and pray that God blesses you. I checked out that pic of you at Sloan and I just know that you will be back to that look SOON!!! You have learned some of the biggest lessons in life while being here. Patience is one of the biggest things you have had to learn. All things happen in their own time. I know you want to just be done with this and you have to be accepting and patient. If all us adults could learn that lesson we'd probably get along a lot more with those around us!!! Until we both get out of here, let's stay on the third floor!!!!! We are in the tail end of Autumn in colorado and it made me wonder how autumn is in NYC. Looks like you get a lot of visitors in your guestbook - some of the entries sound like good friends of yours. I'm dying to know about the matchstick fingers or chicken little.... (LOL). If it's an inside joke - those are the best kind. What are RMH/MSK halloween plans? As a mom, I absolutely hate this holiday because it involves costumes which I refuse to spend money on and so I become the "meanest mom on the block". I DO give out candy. We have to send some more prayers your way and always hope for the best. I read a little something about candy on your page. I hope this is sometrhing that you do not have to give up?? If I had to give up on my candy and sweets I would probably die! But I have become addictded to choclate for the past 53 years. But I am one of those lucky ones as to where I can eat a lot of sweets and not gain weight. My 8 year old son Kyle does not like sweets. So at haloween I make sure he gets enough candy to last me for the year!! I met you through Dylan. Him and Kyle talk on the phone once and awhile, but always sending each other things in the mail. www.caringbridge.org/oh/kylewright Joe Wright <joekyleson@zoominternet.net> Poland, Ohio Mars - Thursday, October 13, 2005 10:19 PM CDT Hello Kelly, I just finished reading the latest update on Dylan. It sucks being sick as a teenager, doesn't it? Just when you should be out enjoying life to the max it's all taken from you, and replaced by doctors, nurses and suchlike. I was very sick for a while at 15, (not as long as you have been) and I remember what it was like, although I'm 60 now! I found you on Dylan's site (I've followed him since B4 he left Australia), & just thought I'd drop you a note to let you know people from all over the world are now pulling for you! I'll put you in my "Favourites" (sorry, "Favorites" for you) list, & follow you from afar. Please always remember lots of us are praying for you. Believing In Bailee RObin and Bailee <michaelbailee@aol.com> - Thursday, September 1, 2005 10:49 AM CDT Kelly, I jumped on your web page to see how your doing and say hello. It appears your out of the hospital enjoying your summer. This is good news. I'm not sure if your still in the city, if so you might enjoy a trip if your permitted down to Canal Street to do some girl shopping with your mon and sister. They have great handbags, sun glasses, tapes and things teens love at prices that will knock your socks off. We went up last fall and had a ball walking around looking at the goods and spending a little coin. Let me tell you there is so much to see. Its not Macy's or Bloomys; but thats the fun of Canal Street. Its a blast just watching the people who go there and their interaction with the vendors. Another great place to visit when your down that way is the South Street Seaport, you can walk around enjoy the sights and have a nice lunch while your there. I think you can take the subway. Its the best way to go, parking can be a pain and its expensive. The subway is the best way to go. Enough of my tourish info, stay well and keep up the good fight! Your a champ in my book! Cousin Fran. /Fran Powers Green <franpowersgreen@comcast.net> Mount Laurel, NJ USA - Friday, August 19, 2005 10:21 AM CDT Dear Kelly Girl, Just wanted to say hello and let you now that you are in our thoughts and prayers.I wish so much for you to remain OUT of the hospital and be able to enjoy the rest of your summer. We love you and miss you! Stay well. Aunt Annie, Uncle Bob, Emily and Brian <Amlrcl@aol.com> Jackson, NJ USA - Friday, August 19, 2005 9:48 AM CDT Hi Kelly, Just a quick note to see how you are doing. Hope you are doing well. Thinking of you and hope you have been able to have a break from living at the Ronald McDonald House. You were always very sweet to our Ryan. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Pat, Linda (Angel Ryan) www.caringbridge.org/mi/ryanc <padwik@yahoo.com> Fenton, MI USA - Thursday, August 11, 2005 5:51 PM CDT Kelly, I missed you at the family reunion, but your mom filled us in on your progress. Like Lance Armstrong coming to the finish line, you are a true champ. Soon this will all be a memory. You'll have so many stories to tell. You will tell your family, than one day your future husband, and then your kids and then your grandkids. Your kids and grandkids will sit with their eyes wide open, disbleaving all that you endured to become well. Some of your stories will be funny and some will be sad, no matter they will mesmerize the listener. Who knows maybe one day you will write a book on your experience for kids coming into treatment who, like yourself were so afraid. Your book may give them courage. Its a thought. Be asured you and the family are in our prayers. All my best Cousin Fran Frances Powers Green <franpowersgreen@comcast.net> Mount Laurel, NJ USA - Wednesday, July 27, 2005 12:37 AM CDT Dear Kelly and Therese, I came across your site from a posting you made on the acor CML list. Our 12 year old son Adam is 4 months post MUD transplant for CML. He was diagnosed in March of 2004. I know how alone you can feel as a parent of a child with an adult's disease. Believe it or not there are more of us out there than we would like. Adam was also on Gleevec for almost a year but did not achieve the results the doctors wanted. It takes great strength for our children to endure and great pain for us to watch them endure it. The alternative is not an option. Stay Strong Suzanne www.caringbridge.org/canada/adam <verheydes@shaw.ca> Calgary, AB Canada - Thursday, July 21, 2005 9:31 PM CDT Hi Kelly, We were all so disappointed that you weren't able to make it to the family reunion! The kids all seemed to enjoy themselves...catching little fish in the stream and picking on their older cousin T.J. He seems to take it all in stride and makes the best of it. I think he secretly likes the attention!! LOL We all hope that you are feeling better as the days go by. As always, you are in our thoughts and prayers. We love you.
