Thinking of you all especially today. As the Halloween season approaches, I always think back to our time on 5200 2 years ago. I'm so sorry that things did not turn out the way you or any of us had hoped. I can't even imagine how difficult some days must be. Dear Christine,
I never knew you as "Baileys Mom" so it would be hard for me to call you that but I do understand. I know the tears well that come time to time still 6 years later after Patrick's death. We just celebrated Patrick's 7th birthday 3 days ago. It is hard to believe my little guy would have been 7 and would be a first grader at Pine Tree. The week was tough as I relived every day leading up to his early delivery. Elizabeth who is almost 5 and never knew her brother talks about him a lot because we talk about him a lot. It is nice to be so open about him and I also understand how you feel that as time goes on, maybe he will be forgotten especially by the community. I definately feel that way. It looks like you have a great support network from your friends at Duke and that is terrific. You know I am here for you. Fondly, "Patrick's Mom"

Bailey will never be forgotten by us. I wanted you to know I have saved some pics of all the kids we met along our journey since Camden was so little when he went through all of this. I want him to know the kids he might one day meet & the kids watching over him from heaven. I don't think you'd be normal if you didn't have lots of tears - you're a good mom - Bailey's mom & nothing will ever change that. Love you-

Hey, Bailey's Mom. Just stopping by to let you know that I was listening. I hope you know that I lurk around a bit and think of you and Bailey often. I do hope you come to the Rainbow of Heroes walk this year and of course dinner at my house afterwards...that will be a tradition, now that I am living here. Of course, we were all a bit crazy that night so we might have scared you away. I also wanted to let you know that you can always stop by the Krabbe message board...there are several other leukodystrophy families there and they are real good listeners also.
Sending a ton of hugs to the best Bailey's mom ever!!!

Dear Christine
Thank you for checking in on Mason and thinking of us - we think of you and pray for you each day. I was so touched by your entry of the things you miss about Bailey, thank you for being so real and sharing your heart to all of us. My favorite memory of Bailey is him and his Harry Potter glasses, I still find myself crying when I unexpectingly run across a pair of black glasses in a store, I instantly think of him and of you. I pray that God will continue to keep you in His grace and surround you with His love and presence each day. Thinking of you and sending hugs to you!

Christina,

I can't understand in the way that you do because I still have Graci; but in the sence of her sickness and disease I do. People are afraid to ask or just presume certian things which is worse than just saying they don't understand. Or what I think must be the most hated line among all of us "oh I understand" No, you don't understand. Honesty is always better, at least that seems to be so for most parents of ill children.

Bailey, and all the little angels up in heaven are the ones who are blessed, their pain is over, their illness healed. No more proceedures, medications or doctors appointments. But there poor families are the ones who must miss their bright smiles and precious memories of days passed.

Hold your memories close, teach your children to cherish them too. And with love you will all grow closer every day.

We love you all and really miss our transplant family.

Thinking of you today... I love you so much... you are a wonderful mother to all of your babies... You will forever be Bailey's mom... the best mom ever!!!! I agree with you... for every smile there is a tear (actually several). It has been almost 8 months since Kaylee went to be with Jesus and I think I miss her more now than ever. Take care of you and know that I am here. Sending you a great big hug and a prayer across the US.

My Dear Sweet Friend Christine,
You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. I know today will be filled with memories of a year ago.... your last moments with your precious Bailey. Remember, He is no longer in pain and I bet that He and Kaylee are playing "tag" or looking at books together like they did that day in Dr. Greene's office. I love you and I am here if you need me. Call me if you are up to it. I pray that today will be a day filled with much peace and supernatural grace. I pray that your memories will be sweet....

Hi Cristine,

I am sorry it took me so long to stop by, and I thank you for visiting Jack's site. I have been reading up on sweet Bailey, and all that your family has endured, and I am in tears. I am so afraid, Christine, of this all happening to Jack. You so beautifully described everything, so honestly. How do you still breathe? Sometimes I can't breathe now, I can't imagine going on if I lost Jack. I HATE these disease's. But, I know that we have been blessed to be parents of such beautiful, brave, and special little souls. Thank you for sharing Bailey's life. I will be praying for all of you.....

Dear Christine,
I often wonder how you are doing when I'm not actually talking to you. Every so often I read the journal and am amazed by your ability to express yourself. I have a hard time getting past the "I'm ok" or "It's a hard day". I thought of your family often last weekend at Popham. Tavon celebrated his first birthday and, as joyous as that was, there was an emptiness in my heart for missing that milestone with Annika. A kiss to Annika & Bailey.
Lots of love & hugs to your family.

I am a former EMT student of Todd's and I worked with Brandon for a summer at Story Land. I am just writing to say the I think your family often. I am in Nursing school now and I only wanted to say that I'm think of you and I only can hope to have an impact on peoples lives like your family has on mine. Thank you Todd, for being and amazing teacher during your families time of need. I greatly appericate at it. It is good to hear that you are doing well. God Bless you all. Lea

Our hearts go out to all those parents and families who look at their loved ones and pray for life, for life is exactly what the little guys have given us. We miss you, but we are grateful for having known you.
With love, Grammie and Grandpa Sauter

Hi! This is Missy from the PICU at Duke. I cared for Bailey and I think of Bailey and you often. As I read the journals you have posted through your journey with Bailey and after-in celebration of his life, I rejoice with you that you carry him with you in your heart and that your life is still full of love, joy, and happiness. I thank God I was allowed to be part of Bailey's life!

Hi Christine,

Kelly Brown just told me that you are in town (Durham) for the walk. Our family won't arrive until tomorrow evening, but I wanted to read up a bit on Bailey's life and "get to know you" before we meet tomorrow. What a beautiful boy Bailey is! I look forward to giving you a big hug (the kind that only fellow leukodystrophy families know how to give) and talking with you in person. See you soon.

Peace and blessings,

Dear Christine and family,
Bailey has been in our prayers since we have been on the unit. We recently found out by being back at the unit that he has left to be in peace. We are praying for God's grace and peace to comfort you right now and hold you and your family up during this very difficult time. We will always remember him and his Harry Potter glasses from the Halloween parade up here. You all are close to our hearts right now and we pray God will strengthen you through our prayers. This verse has comforted us during our journey with Mason, we hope it will provide some comfort for you. "The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you hae suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power for ever and ever. Amen" 1 Peter 5: 10-11

there is a new, bright star shining from heaven tonight. i always did believe that children who pass become stars in the night sky shining their love light down on us all.

bailey, todd, chris, brenna, and brandon have given me more strenghth than i ever imagined one person could use. bailey, you've touched me in ways i never thought possible. i remember the christmas eve we met in dover(?) you were so excited santa was coming. you are a sweet, precious star in my life.
chris and todd, nothing could be more unfair. but your faith and love gives us all a life lesson. be safe knowing how many lives bailey has touched, how we came to love him and you. and how much he taught us in his short life. (which has taken on another realm that is by far not over) and no one can hold a candle to your strength; may we all learn from it.

Chris and Todd-
I don't know if you remember me but I'm Gage's mom Heather. We would see you and Bailey out in the hall walking on 5200. Gage was the 2 year old always on the tractor. We heard about Bailey's passing a few days ago and my heart just breaks for you. I just found his website and read the details. You probably already know but Gage developed VOD too. I can relate to your uncertainly and how worried you must have been while trying to figure out what was wrong with Bailey. We were hoping that since the statistics for developing VOD are not real high that Gage satisfied that number for a while so no one else would have to experience it so soon. We were so fortunate to be able to receive the Defibertide in time (it was close). Please take comfort in the fact that even people that you don't know are praying for your family and are thinking of you.
Sincerely, Heather Thompson

Dear Bailey's Family, I will be praying for you as you go through the hardest time I can imagine in life. I am Micah Fleming's Grandmother and Susan told me about Bailey this afternoon. I understand your relief in that he will not have to suffer the effects of this horrible disease. However I know the pain in your loss is great and I can not even imagine losing a child. Dear Todd and Chris,
Steve, Kimberly and I are extremely saddened by your loss. I wish I had known Bailey. Kimberly was a sixth grader at Pine Tree when Bailey was in Kindergarten. She remembers him from Friday morning exercise that she did with the class.

As I was in your position four years ago, I have learned that there is nothing you can say to a grieving parent to make it better. I wish I had many words of wisdom, but I don’t. Just know that the whole community is here for you. You are cared about by so many people. Steve, Kimberly and I are here for you too.

Yesterday after we had learned that Bailey had flown off to touch God’s face, I asked my son, Patrick, to please help Bailey out in heaven and show him around. I have no doubt that he did because around midnight last night I awoke to something dinging. Two cell phones and one radio started dinging at various times. I was running around the house trying to locate the dings. The dings remind me of the sound of an infusion pump. I have no question in my mind that was Patrick or Bailey or both telling me that all is well. The way I was running around the house, I have no question that little boys are still mischievous in heaven.

Todd, it was so nice to meet you at the Flatbread’s fundraiser. I hope I get to meet Chris soon.

Bailey..... fly, fly precious one, your endless journey has begun. Godspeed little man. Safe journey home to all. Love, Steve, Lisa, Kimberly and Elizabeth Cote

Dear Bailey, I am going to miss our walks, your growls, and your beautiful smile. I am also going to miss our wonderful snacks together, the 'Bailey and Amy' snacks.
I will see you again someday. Brandon, I am so proud of you, you are a wondeful big brother to both Bailey and Britta. You stepped up to the plate for you family and I am so thankful to know you and proud of you. Britta: Remember, A cat does not say baaaa. I will also be able to remember Bailey's face, whenever I see you I will also see Bailey. The same eyes, and smile. Todd and Chris: Nothing can make things any easier. There are no words or Pearls of Wisdom. You just need to feel. Feel the pain, hurt, anger, love, and dreams. Know that your friends here at SRMG will stand by you. Also know that when we offer to help, that you let us. This will help you but also help us to heal as well. May God Bless you all and keep you safe during your trip home to NH...Love, Amy

Todd, Chris and the entire Robinson family I am truely and deeply saddend by your loss. I don't think that anyone that knew Bailey could say that they weren't touched by him or the amount of love that you family has for one another. There are two things that I will remember the most about Bailey, his smile and his skill with a squirt gun (Logan's Birthday party). I will leave an entry tomorrow from Logan, once he has had time to grasp all of this. Until then, Today Heaven gained an Angel to look over us all. You are in our thoughts......Stacy, Ryan, and Logan

Wanted you to know that I'm rooting for you. I just checked out your website, which I learned about through the ad for tonite's fundraiser at Flatbreads. Couldn't make it there tonite, but grabbed a coupla to-go pizzas which I and my family enjoyed (we, too, had pepperoni!) Things were really hopping there this afternoon, so if that's any indicator, tonite's fundraiser must have been a huge success. Blessings to you and your family.

I was looking at my favorites file and find your site. I have read your entries and know you both are providing wonderful time for your family. I thought of Bailey when I was learning about the adrenal glands; its associated diseases, hormones and symptoms. You all are so strong. ~~Hey You Guys~~
I just read your exciting, Awsome Vacation that you had :)
WOW, You all had a Blast hu? Cool. As I was reading the story i just pictured all of you doing everything that u said you all' did. I'm so happy to hear it all went GREAT!!!! I can't wait for Brooke's wish, it's coming up soon. Cant imagine no bothering phone calls, no time limit to get "things done",wake up early, go to bed wheneva, NO DOCTORS, just the normal taking meds part. I'm kinda, well very much having anxiety. I'm just so used to doing the routine stuff all the time. I'm sure i will get used to "worry free for a week".lol. I am Sooooo happy to know that you all had the Best time :)
So sorry about your friend :( That has happend to me a few times. It just plain o'l sucks! I will NEVER understand Life, never.

Thanks for sharing your story. We also are a family affected by ALD. Our oldest son was diagnosed and passed away in 2000. We have a 7 year old who is also a carrier and on the Lorenzo's Oil and diet. He is an amazing little guy, counting his own fat grams throughout the day. These little children afflicted with disease are special kids. May your life continue to run smoothly and have a happy ending for Bailey.
