Welcome to Mitchell Martin's Page Mitchell Cordell Martin was born on December 14, 1998 to Robert and Lynne Martin. On July 13, 2000, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Then, ten days later he was also diagnosed with bacterial meningitis. He has been a real trooper. In the past 2-1/2 years, he has had numerous scans, tests, x-rays, surgeries, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, vision therapy and blood transfusions, not to mention his chemotherapy treatment.
He is a true miracle and proof that prayer works. Now, he is working on just being a very active preschooler.
This page was created to keep family and friends upated on Mitchell's progress and treatment.
Thank you for stopping by to check on Mitchell. Please take a moment to sign the guestbook. Mitchell loves it when we read the entries to him.

Wednesday, January 2, 2008 1:29 PM CST Hello Everyone ~
We have great news. Mitchell has been moved to the "CANCER SURVIVOR" clinic. He only has to go in once or twice a year for routine lab work. It is hard to believe that it has been seven years since his diagnosis.
Mitchell turned nine a few weeks ago. He had a wonderful birthday with too much cake, etc. He is in karate now. He is a 7th gup advanced orange belt. He only has six more belts to go before the belt turns black. I have no doubt that he will do it. No one ever thought that he would ever make it this far in the martial arts, but he proved them wrong. Just like he proved all of the doctors wrong that said that he would never walk, etc. As a matter of fact, today he is a very normal little boy. You would never know what he has been through if you did not know his medical history. He doesn’t even tell anyone about it anymore, unless they are very sick or scared and he is trying to comfort them. I am very proud of him and the way he has handed all of his therapies for the past seven years. The martial arts have helped him tremendously with his balance and strength and it is cheaper than private physical therapy.
Our family just wanted to say thank you to everyone that prayed for Mitchell and our family. We are very blessed to have such a great support system. We are even more blessed to have our miracle child with us. He has given us a new perspective on life and what is really important – God and family first. Work can wait whether it is housework or business. It can wait. My mother always said that one day I would look around and miss having to scrub the muddy fingerprints off the walls because my children are all grown up with lives of their own. Now I know how my mother felt watching us grow up so fast and wow was she so right.
Hope y’all have a HAPPY NEW YEAR ! ! !
Love & Prayers, Lynne
