I have been following all of the children from the Lonliest Road since September and I thank you for for mentioning Marissa on your son's site. It is an awesome thing to see that people still have compassion and care for one another. I check often to see how Kai is doing and I am thankful that he is wonderful and healthy. I don't post a message every time, but not a day goes by that these beautiful children are not in my prayers. Have a blessed and wonderful day!

Your faith in God is astounding.I read these updates on all of the children and I think how hard it would be to make this type of decision.I also know what it means to be at total peace with your decision and with God when no one else can understand. He is a beautiful boy with a smile that can light up a room. You are in my prayers today and everyday and may you have a Blessed Day!

I met your husband in Fredericksburg VA while he was ridding with the other Dads and I just wanted you to know that when I met him and handed him a poster I asked could I hug him - of course he said yes. When I hugged him there was such a sence of kidness and I knew he was a special man. With that being said I just wanted you to know without knowing you and your family personally I know that you are wonderful and special people with a gift to love. May God hold you all close and give you a ton of laughters and memories.

Shana,
I admire your strength and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible says to cast all your cares upon him and lean not on your own understanding. Sometimes we do not understand why things happen the way they do but I guess sometimes it is just not for us to understand. God has it all under control. I miss you all and I love you all with all of my heart.

I just wanted you to know that I think you are making a good choice. It's so hard to watch our children go through all of this treatment. It's in God's hands no matter what we do. Trust in him and he will make the right choice for your son. I lost my son to NB and I truely believe God saved him from a life of pain and suffering. I miss Ryan every day and I wish he never got cancer but God has his reasons and some day I will know why. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Live every moment with your son and enjoy the time you have. God Bless you all, Danielle

Shana & Family, I have been following Kai for awhile now. Found you all thru Loneliest Road. I admire your decision. I wish I had the faith you have. I am jealous of you in a way. My mom was forced by my Grandmother to have a religion she did not "feel" for most of her life. Because of her childhood experiences, when she gave birth to my sister and I, she did not have beliefs to pass onto us. We were baptized, went to the occasional service on holidays, but she never guided us to God. Never showed us the way. I do not blame her, but when I read of your strong faith, I feel sad that I have nothing that strong to rely on. And I feel happy for you that you can truly give this over to God. I do not know what that TRULY feels like. I find inspiration in your words. Thank you for your honesty and wisdom. Kai is in my prayers and thoughts.

I have been checking your updates via the Lonliest Road Website. We are friends of the Sydney Sims family. I admire your faith and strength in the Lord with the decision to stop treatments. I have children of my own and I know they are a gift from above (we always tell our youth group that our kids aren't "ours", God is just letting us babysit for Him). I will be praying for you all. Remember that Abraham was tested with his son Issac and was found faithful (Genesis 22 )! I pray that same blessing upon your family with Kai's healing. May God's strength and peace be with you and your family!
Praying for you always!

She was treated here in Sacramento and at Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford University. My prayers are w/ you & your family. I happened to come across your site. Your faith and strength is amazing. My son did not survive NB. The good Lord save him from the suffering he endured. He is now an angel watching over us.
I am doing a theme basket fund raiser for the loneliest road campaign and I am dedicating them to children with NB. I would love to dedicate a spider man one to your son if that is o.k. It would have his picture and story next to the basket so that people will put a face to this horrible disease. I am trying to make this disease more aware to the public. I think your husband should do the bike ride. He seems like he would be able to do it with no trouble. I will be praying for your little boy. Please tell Kai that I've missed visiting him and your family, that I've been thinking about him a lot, and that I want him to feel better.
I'm sorry that Kai has been feeling so bad this week. I've prayed for him and for your family.
Your words express so much of your own pain. I'm so sorry. Meanwhile, you also describe so perfectly the inner conflicts, guilts, and insecurities that all parents endure in so many situations. It's OK to want normalcy and to act on it!

Dear Davis Family, I couldn't believe my eyes and ears when I heard your story on WRAL. I had just returned from NYC where our 3 1/2 year old grandson is at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He also has Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, diagnosed on 4/17/07. He finished 3 grueling rounds of chemo and on 6/27 surgery took place to remove the tumor. Six days later, on July 3rd, he began his 4th round of chemo. At this writing he is fighting a bacterial infection and is back in the hospital. We are praying for a miracle to happen for Toby and his family. You can read about Toby at http://tobypannone.blogspot.com/

Dear Davis Family,
First I want to thank WRAL for covering your story to get the word out about the great need for more research in childhood cancers, and I want to let you all know that you're in my thoughts and prayers for healing from this dreadful disease. I work as a volunteer on the Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society in honor of my grandson who was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 7, so I'm familiar with what you all are going through.

Kai, you keep Dr. Gold hopping and tell him Christopher's grandma from Pittsboro said for him to be good to you (if he's your doctor). All the doctors and nurses in Pediatric Oncology are great. Best of luck to your dad on his ride across America. I'll be watching for updates from him.

My heart and prayers go out to you all in this fight. God Bless.

I read your article today in this morning's WRAL interview. I was very moved from it. I could not help but to let you know that God has plans for Kai. This boy was sent to you for a reason. The bike ride to help support treatment is a moving tribute. You are in my prayers and I am glad God is giving you the faith to move forward through this.
I would like to live these scriptures of encouragement to remember as the bicyle journey begins and for your son:(Phillipians 4:19 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and Galatians 6:9 DO not be weary of your good doing, you will reap a harvest if you do not give up). I don't know where to start. The tears warms my eyes, by reading the story of your precious son Kai. I Pray the Lord heals your son and strenghten the mother, father, and his sister. I would like you to add this pray to your list. Deuteronomy 13:2 You are holy people to the Lord your God. He has chosen you from all the people on earth to be his very own. Hi Kai and Family -- My heart has been touched, and I am moved to "gentle tears" as I read your story and peruse your website. WHAT A TESTIMONY OF STRENGTH!!! Even though you have supernatural help -- your spirit of humility and trust come through these written pages.

My prayers of support and faith are definitely with you and your family for "supernatural intervention" once again for the processes you face. HE DOES, AND WILL WORK ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR YOUR GOOD -- I believe you "love the Lord" and are "called according to His purpose" -- therefore, you certainly qualify!

As I read your notes about Kai -- it helped me put "my problems / challenges" in proper perspective. Your family is a "stalwart of faith"! The faith you exhibit NOW is the evidence of good things to come; shows that "you please God" and HE will reward you openly.

May the fullest blessings of Jehovah Rophe and El Roi be yours continually!

In Him -- Pastor Sylvia Earls

P.S. My sister, Patsy Sellers (Tiffany's mom), passed this onto me -- I'm so glad she did.

Kai, Love the new curly hair. Glad to hear you are still feeling strong. Have fun and be good. Sending you Love, Hugs and a Million Prayers.
To My Child...
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you wake up softly, all rumpled in your sheets and I will hold you until you are ready for the day.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear and smile at how perfect it is.Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park and play. Just for this morning,I will leave the dishes in the sink and let you teach me how to put that puzzel of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off and sit with you in the back yard and blow bubbles.
Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the Ice-cream Truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.
Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.
Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.
Just for this afternoon, I will take you to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.
Just for this evening, I will snuggle besides you for hours, and miss my favorite T.V. show.
Just for this evening, when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray. I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about mothers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms and mothers who are in the hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and scream inside that they can't handel it anymore, and when I kiss you goodnight, I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer. It is then I will thank God for you and ask him for nothing,

EXCEPT ONE MORE DAY

Happy New Year Davis Family
Hope you had a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. For the Hammonds' Family we had a little damper on Christmas Day since Damien was still in the hospital. He came home the following week and boy was he full of energy. Maybe we should have slept Christmas Day to be ready for him and Dylan. Can we say the Hammonds Boys were on the prowl? Kai we hope you contiune to get stronger and be blessed with the rest of your protocol. Damien has to go back to Chapel Hill in the morning for test and then radiation starting on the 9th. Dear Davis Family,
We were recently up at UNC for testing on our daughter and met. After reading your story and thinking a lot about you, Kai, I thought of a favorite bible verse Psalm 46. I usually read it to my Ky during her hospital stays. We have nothing compared to the heartache and frustration that you have and I can't put into words what I wish I could say to you. We will keep you in our prayers at night, if you EVER need ANYTHING we are here in Fayetteville, please call, you have our number. God bless you Kai and your family. You WILL make it through this and be able to to accomplish anything in life. HUGS!!!!!!

To the Davis family; words can not describe my heart felt sadness for what you all are going through (I can relate a little), but I'll try any way to express my desire that you all come through this with Kia's recovery. Our God and our faith in Him is the ultimate authority on the outcome of this situation. The physical discomfort that Kai is going through is I'm sure more than most of us think we could handle; but our savior showed us that it can be endured and Kai has been given the strength through the blood of Jesus to do battle. I agree with you all in prayer to be home (all of you) for christmas and everyday thereafter; we will claim "Thy Shall Be Healed"!!!

With Much Love

Hi Kai, I'm so glad to hear (and expected to hear) that you are fighting through this difficult time even though it often means fighting mommy and daddy (smile). Your strength is ridiculous for your age and so encouraging to grown folks like myself who are trying to learn from it! I believe angels minister to you constantly, I believe the Holy Spirit consistently comforts you, I believe that Jesus Christ sits by your beside always, and I believe that our Father God covers and protects you forever. Hopefully someday you'll be able to articulate your present experiences and share them with the world in such a way that it causes us all to walk closer to God and live for according to His purposes. Know that the Briscoes really miss you and keep praying for you. Darien says you're his buddy and I bet he can hardly wait to ride around in the Jeep with you again. Much Love from us...see you soon!

Praise God that Kai's transplant has taken place! It has been a long journey for you to get to this point and it has happened. Hallelujah! I just wanted to tell you that I continue to think of you and your family. I would stop by the Bone Marrow unit but I would have to bring Brenna and even though neither one of us is sick (if we were she would be back in the hospital) I don't want to risk bringing a bug in with us. Will pray for your family from a distance ! :)

Hello Kai,
so nice to meet you and your family. I am glad the surgery went well and that is done and over with. Sounds as if you did a great job. NED is great news. That is
the best 3 letter word or any word I know. I hope my Jared always remains NED.
I take from your note in Jared's guest book that you may be at CHOP doing MIBG the middle of November. You will have to let me know. We are going to CHOP on NOvember 15 and 16. Would love to link up and introduce ourselves if that is possible. Do you currently go to CHOP for any treatment? Who is your doctor? We have Dr.Grupp. Who we love but all of the oncs at CHOP we met are great.
I will keep Kai in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well from here on out.
Thank you for visiting Jared's page. I will check back in later closer to CHOP time and maybe we can meet.
Take care.

Hi Kai, this is Katrina. You probably dont remember me but my mom and I met you and your family at U.N.C. I just had to sign your guestbook because I want you to know you really have an impact on me. I love you so much yet I barely know you. I want you to know I fasted for you and prayed for you and bring your name to the alter each time I go to church and I will continue to do so. I not only pray for you but also your mom and dad and you sister. I know how hard it was on my family when I was in the hospital so I pray that God strengthens them just as much as he strengthens you. I dont want to be lengthy so as I close this out I just want to ensure you that you are in my prayers when I wake up and before I go to bed. I just want to share with you one of my favorite scriptures also.
Psalm 116: 8-11 "For You Oh Lord have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from stumbling that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living. I believed, therefore, I said I am greatly afflicted. In my dismay I said all men are liars."
You may not understand it just yet but in my mind I think of this scripture as The Lord will give you life, take away your pain, and make you whole so that you may tell of his goodness. If you have faith and believe that God will answer your prayers, you will amaze the doctors and show them what God can do! I love you, God bless you,

Hi Kai! This is your neighbor down the hall from you, Christian. How are you feeling today? I am doing fine. Kai this is Christian's mother, Michelle and I just wanted to encourage you and your family to continue to trust God! It has been our faith in God that has brought us this far. I really believe that everyone you meet, you meet for a reason. The road that you are about to take, Christian has just come from down the same road. Sometimes the road seemed very long, very dark, and very lonely, BUT GOD! I can tell that you have a very strong support system with your Mom, Dad and your sister, but most of all it's going to be God that is going to bring you through. I can tell that you are a little "warrior", so I believe that God has already prepared, equipped and suited you up for this task. Like the word says, "we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus!" We will as a family, continue to keep you and your family in our prayers always.
Please continue to do the same for us as well. Until then, keep smiling, keep fighting, keep loving!

Dearest Kai, Jasmine, Shana, and Vander: It is such an honor to know and love all of you. I have always marveled at how beautiful and full of life Kai and Jasmine are. I look forward to our little Cassandra (age 2 on July 23rd) and Kai attending each other's many birthday parties and other traditional childhood events. I want to encourage you by reminding you that God is able to do so much more than we could possibly ask or even imagine. For with God, all things are possible, and God is proving Himself mighty everyday. I also look forward to the awesome work that God has in store for both Kai and Jasmine. I know that they will be a mighty force against the kingdom of darkness. They are two powerhouses in the making, so look out, Van and Shana. I'm closing for now, but know that people all around the world are praying for your family, from Hawaii to Washington State to Georgia to Florida to Iraq. We all love you and will celebrate with you on the victorious other side of this challenge. As for the marathon, I wish I were in shape, Van. I will try to get some info re: marathons for you, cool? Cool! Love and hugs and kisses, Mel (William & Cassandra)

To my strong and brave nephew:
I thank God for bringing you into our lives. You are such a joy to have. Everytime I think of you, the first thing that comes to mind is how strong and brave you are. During the very beginning of this test, when we came to visit you in the hospital after your surgery and I watched you in amazement as you endured pain to be able to play with your sister and cousins and visit with your family. I am so proud at how well a two year can withstand such a trying time. I draw from your strength and courage. I know that you will be healed because God has ordained a Perfect Plan for you. You will grow up to be a mighty man of God. I love you with all that is within me (including my little Jazzy and your parents). You all will continually be in my prayers because God is not finished with you all yet....Believe and receive the Miracle God has in store for your family. With much LOVE.....Auntie Nette

This is your Aunt Rochelle and Uncle Ron. What a sweet boy you are and we know that God has big plans for you as well as your sister Jasmine. We don't get to see you very often but we are always praying for you and so many other people here in upstate SC that don't even know you. Father God we pray right now in Jesus name that the blood of Jesus would cover that household and that the life of God would continue to bring abundant life and healing to Kai's life. Also we pray for peace and rest in this household and protection and divine health also for Ven, Rashana, and Jasmine. We come against the spirit of fear in Jesus name that would try to take hold and derail all that You have started here and we say to satan, the Lord rebuke you. Finally we declare Psalm 118:17 and Psalm 91 over the Davis household. We love you guys.

What can we say! The Briscoe and Davis families are as close as close can be. We've weathered many storms and laughed many times in each other's presence. We were there the first day Kai was born and have watched him grow. Every time we think of him or pray for him we are reminded to hold fast the faith of the Shunemmite woman who refused doubt, believing that the gift God had given her was His to keep...we know the glorious rest! You never have to ask us to pray because you know we've got your back and all our love is yours! We're cheering you and God on and we'll be right there with you on the other side of this storm, laughing and enjoying each other as we always have. Thank you for being such a strength and peace to us.

My prayer is that I am the father that God wants me to be for such a precious seed that HE has given to me! When all this is over with, we will laugh and chuckle about the long nights and reminisce about your skateboard or should I say IV pole and maybe run a marathon together or something! I love you so much!!!!!!!!!
