Quinn is getting bigger and stronger, and is officially ready to move on to Level 2 care, in the Special Care Nursery at Abbott Northwestern. This is a huge step for Quinn and for us, since we have all become accustomed to his care at the NICU. He has been making such great progress that it is time to move on. He's off his IV, his oxygen is no longer being monitored, and is off the bili lights (you'll notice no more velcro patches on his head in the pictures). His feedings have been dramatically increased every day. He's up to a whopping 3 pounds 7 ounces, and is way ahead of his anticipated growth rate.

We're incredibly happy with his progress so far, and we're very happy to read your notes on the guestbook. We let Quinn know how many hits he has received... Thanks again for all your kind thoughts and prayers.

Love,
Aud, Billy and Quinn

Quinn is steadily improving, and we couldn't be more thrilled. He is getting ready to "graduate" from the NICU and move on to the special care nursery. This is a big step, but since Quinn is now breathing on his own and gaining weight, the doctors are ready for him to move on. He is still pretty tiny - he's back to his birthweight, which is what we were hoping for, but he's still got a long way to go before we can take him home.

He's making lots of funny faces now, which makes for some good pictures and some very weird ones! We think he's starting to look more like a full size baby. Even the photo developer has noticed how much his health has improved over the past 8 days!

Love to all,
Billy, Aud, and Quinn

Quinn continues to do well. He has been off all breathing support for almost 24 hours and is handling the change smoothly. Our neonatologist says he is the poster boy of preemies and is why she comes to work everyday... we're happy to have the bragging rights!

He has been eating more and more everyday and all of his vital signs are continually improving.

We've been receiving amazing care and support from all the medical staff at the hospital, as well as from our friends and families. We love to see the number of hits on Quinn's site go up and we appreciate all the notes even more.

More soon, love Billy and Aud

Quinn is doing very well today. They took him off of the CPAP machine, which was giving him oxygen and helping him breathe. He is still on a little oxygen, but is doing most of the breathing on his own.

We got to spend some quality time with him today. Billy, Aud and Grandpa John all got to spend some time holding him.

Quinn started eating breastmilk yesterday through a feeding tube. So far, everyone has been impressed with how well he has taken the food. We're hoping to try nursing soon. He really loves his pacifier, which is a good sign.

Thanks for all the notes in the guest book. It means so much to us.

Love,
Aud and Billy

Quinn had his first poop today! We were very happy to see this as it is a sign that his body is breaking down the bad stuff and getting rid of it. We also heard him cry for the first time, and it was music to our ears.

Later this afternoon we will be able to hold him for the first time. Needless to say, we can't wait!
