Wow, Kevin you are getting so big!!! 5'8 and a half wow!!! I remember when Melissa was first diagnosed you were one of the first that I had found with medulloblastoma and at a time I was so scared...I had saw you were finishing treatment and doing well...it had given me hope. Melissa is doing fine just like you and she too has the ringing in the ears...she wears hearing aids but she is always saying my ears are ringing. So I know she can sympathize with you in that area. Wow, Kevin looks so great and strong. I'm finally checking your site on the desktop. I'm frustrated myself several times wanting to check while I'm on my laptop and then forgetting to check the exact web address. So, finally I'm looking. Thanks for your numbers, Deb. There seems to be hope that things will work out well with growth hormone for Doug. Of course it's only an adult dose.....which is actually smaller than the ones for kids when they're trying to get growth.

Checkin in to see what was happening with the growth hormone and the cost etc. Wondering how you're doing. I'm so glad that Kevin is not struggling with school. That is a daily energy zapper for Doug and for Nick and I too. We're having to "fight" for help for him at school a bit this year, too, and that is exhausting along with everything else we deal with. Sometimes I just want to scream at the world! I'm sure you've wanted to do that regarding this growth hormone situation!

I just ran across Kevin's website tonight for the first time. I will continue to follow Kevin's progress and add him to the list of children I pray for.
My son, Jimmy, was also diagnosed with medulloblastoma about 7 months before Kevin. Jimmy was 5 1/2 at the time and will turn 9 around Thanksgiving. We are having wonderful days right now (even though Jimmy has a long way to go to get back to his pre-surgery/pre-tumor condition) and we go from scan to scan. I know how stressful those days are for us and agree with you that we will always be this way with scans.
I'm interested to go back through your journal updates to learn more about Kevin's growth hormone and when he started it. We know that Jimmy needs growth hormones and will meet with his endocrinologist in a few weeks to discuss when things will start. This makes me very nervous because there are certain cells that we NEVER want to grow again.
I wish we'd known about Kevin 2 days ago before we went to Williamsport, PA to see some of the Little League World Series. While we were there we saw some of the players from Coon Rapids and had I known about Kevin, I would have asked the players if they played with him. What a wonderful experience for all the young players that travelled to Williamsport. Way to go Georgia!

It's been awhile since I've stopped by and wanted to see how Kevin was doing! Sounds like everything is really going great!
I know there are some residual effects of all the treatment these children have, it's hard to say what will stay and what moves on...we have been to the endo dr and after getting off tamoxifen in January (part of his chemo protocol-the last thing he was on actually) he has started to really grow, voice change, puberty kicking in...we have bone age x-rays again in Sept. which we will compare to his February test- it showed a bone age of 12.5 yrs he will be 15 in October...so we'll see if given the chance, things happen naturally....it's time....thinking of you all and sending positive thoughts!!

Wow! I just saw Kate's work...it's awesome........she is so talented. I loved seeing it!!!!

In June it will be the 2 year anniversary of Doug's End-of-Treatment! He is on a road trip to Colorado with Dustin and his dad. What a difference from 2 years ago in Colorado!! I will be apart from him for 6 weeks........a very strange concept. Hoping that he'll feel more independent. He'll be working in a coffee shop at our staff conferences at CSU,then attending the youth "getaway".

I'm sure that Kevin will be having lots of opportunities for fun this summer. You guys always seem to do lots of fun things.

Just read the "energized" update. Sooooooooooo good to hear. It put a smile on my face!!! :)

Doug's neuropathy has been so much less lately that he's asking to cut back on the meds!! I have forgotten about the balance problem because it is so very, very slight you wouldn't know. So, time really does help.

Kevin and family - good news and great pics. Praying for your continued health and recovery. We found your site from another CB site and love to check on other medulloblastoma "alumni". Our treatments were very similar (Cisplatin, Cyclophosamide, Vincristine, Mesna, 31 rad tx, 4 rounds of chemo - 1 week each, and MRI's galore). We go back to St. Jude in early May for our first check up. We are glad to hear that your recovery is doing so well and thanks for the inspiration. God Bless and take care.

Sorry it has been so long since I've signed your guest book. I try to check the site regularly but don't always take the time to write. I was soooo HAPPY to see everything looked great on the MRI. Waiting for those results can be a little overwhelming. What a trooper Kevin is! I am also glad to hear his new school is going well. I can't even imagine changing schools as I went with the same kids K-12! We got A LOT of snow the past couple of days and its great to hear the sounds of the snowmobiles! It sure looks like the "boys" had a nice trip. I can't wait to go but won't be able to until March 12th. We are leaving for Palm Springs CA tomorrow for 4 days (through Bob's job), will get back and then be attending the State Hockey tournament and watching Kyle play in Fargo next weekend.
