This was a month we should have been there to help somehow, but I had to move out of my studio---the building was sold to a title company and they have very fastidious privacy and security rules about who can be on the premises so, being public enemy number 1, I had to leave. Without Jerry and all my friends it would not have been possible. But we were aware of the urgent troubles you folks in Edina were having and were frustrated by our inability to pitch in. Pleas allow us to send our gratitude to everyone connected to you with their help and messages. We appreciate everyone's help--it contributes to our peace of mind, too. Your are helping more people than you might know.
I am looking foreward to Doug and Andreas birthdays that are coming up soon. I hope you will have a chance to celebrate somehow, you both deserve a break. It seems like a long time since we have been able to get down to see you. I am so lonesome for all of you, but especially Sophia and Lila (surprise, surprise), but I think we are coming down next weekend, so save some hugs and kisses for Grandpa Jerry and "Grandpa Linda" as Lila calls me. I can hardly wait! Congratulations to all, especialy Sophia, for the happy, healthy outcome. Bill and Judy, one more extra thanks. You are pure love and heart. Linda and Jerry Doebbert

Hi sweetie from grandma and grandpa Doebbert. It was so wonderful to see you Sunday, even though it had to be at childrens hospital. You were getting treatment the entire time and we could see how exhausted you were from all the activity of the last four days, but you were a real little trouper. Everybody says what a little fighter you are and that you are such a good patient. Mary Carol Peterson has such a special place in her heart for you, and whe has been calling us to check on you, your family, and to help us, too with her loving words. Others have been in touch and sending their love. Lila says she will be so happy to see you and you will be so happy to see her. I have been writing down some of the funny things she does when we take care of her. I write these down in notebooks I call storybooks so some day you can hear these stories. Some of them are stories about mommie and daddy and other people you know. We want you to get a little better each day, so you will get well and can get back home. We will come and see you again soon. Love from grandma Linda and Grandpa Jerry Doebbert

Hope Sophia is well on her way to recovery from her spine surgery! Bella is recuperating and her spirits are good. She still has 3 more weeks with her foot casts and the separating bar between them. We have to do the lie-down easy on vest option for transporting her but we are getting really good at this. We ordered Bella her own Silver Power Koala which should be here in a few weeks. Mommy ordered herself an awesome Toyota Sienna Rampvan to make life more pleasurable for all!!! We have been updating Bella's caringbridge site (password isabellaandrade) all along if you want to check in with us sometime.

We are so glad to know that this big surgery is behind you and that you are working on a smooth recovery. That tooth fairy surely must make her rounds to the hospital!!!

Caden has been through spinal rodding surgery and you'll be amazed how nice and straight you'll be sitting after the surgery. You'll be sleepy for a few days and there will be lots of people taking care of you. They are God's special helpers and they will do everything they can to get you up and rolling quickly. Tell mommy and daddy to bring your power chair! We know that you'll be rolling down the halls of the hospital and out the door in no time at all.

Hello for the first time to all of you. Sophia, you have a wonderful little sister. We love playing with her when she comes to play with Christy. I always tell her to give you kiss when she goes home. I see your picture and see the same beautiful sparkling eyes your sister has.
Andrea, Sophia is sooo beautiful. Please know she will be prayed for daily in this house. I'm glad we are able to be a part of your lives. Lila is a delight to have in our home. Anne Lee

Sophia's quite the fighter. I know this time is tough, but she's doing so much hard work. When Danny had this kind of bad pneumonia, I was blown away to see him bring up hugh chunks of gunk from his lungs for days after he was extubated. That's when I realized just what he was battling. I wish we could be nearer to help give you some support and a break. I know how exhausting these days/nights are. We'll keep storming heaven for all of you and ask for strength and courage for the days ahead.

Hi Guys! I love your website! I have to learn how to make one for Mary Kate, computer skills are not on the top of my list! We are gradually getting over our cold, I hope Sophia is too. Thanks for being there when I needed you Andrea, it always helps to talk it out to someone else who knows when our little lovebugs get sick. It breaks my heart to see her work so hard to breathe/cough, she is such a fighter, my little "hero". She hates missing preschool so I'm hoping we can rebound and make it to school even 1 day next week. I'll call you our first open Friday for a playdate with the girls! Take care, talk soon...... HI, Sophias family. We have never met before but I was emailed by Abby one of your home care nurses. She happen to be one of my home care nurses for my two year old daughter when we were with a different home care agency. She wrote because it sounds like your family is possible looking for a new home care agency. We switch to an agency called Accurate home care. We have been with this agency for about a year. They have been really great at getting our schedule filled. My daughter has been very lucky to have great nurseing care with this agency. Please feel free to write back with any other question my daughters caringbride site is www.caringbridge.org/mn/makaylaglyer

Hello to all my darlings..Doug, Andrea, Sophia, Lila! I am taking a break from my intense concentration on planning our trip in May. My eyeballs are worn out, I cannot see how I can pack 5000 years of history and achievement into less than three weeks, but I might have to expect to miss something. BUT I get to see "the babies" before this adventure starts, so that makes up for everything. I haven't seen you for so long, you will have grown like crazy. Good. I hear you've been getting some important treatment on your hand and with your breathing, Sophia. Good for you. And that you are saying some more things. Can't wait to hear all your news. Lila, you little rascal! Dad said you almost rolled completely over the other day. I'd loved to see that. All our friends ask about the (Doug and Andrea) Doebbert family every time we see them, and it is good to have so much good news to relate. Hi Sophia and Lila, Are you both busy figuring out what you're going to do on Mommie's birthday tomorrow? I hope you're cooking up something really fabulous, because she deserves a big party. Grandma and Grandpa have been showing your pictures to everybody in Northern Minnesota. I'm short on pictures of Lila, but when they see Sophia, everybody says the same thing: "She has the most beautiful eyes!". We never argue. We have been a little hung up with changing over to a new computer. We have not been connected to the internet for a while, but we're all set up and rolling again. I can't wait to see Sophia bombing around in her power chair, and her parents dashing around trying to keep track of everybody. A one-year old with wheeeeeeels? Holy Moly! So Lila, I hear you're doing your job, packing on the pounds...way to go, baby. Everybody has to do their job...no slackers allowed in this family! We're going to be in Minneapolis this weekend; we're hoping to get a little time with all of you, so don't celebrate too hard, Andrea. Hi to all the Bowles folks. This message is for Doug: You need to contact both Wilson families. Yetta died suddenly in her sleep. She had never had any history of any medical problems, rode here bike ten miles to work and back every day, didn't smoke, drank very little, ate a very health diet, had no weight problems as you know. It is unbelievable, awful. They will all be going to Denmark as soon as they can for her funeral. I hope there are some bereavement passport arrangements that can be made. They will be contacting their congressmen for information. Bill and Anne will offer to let Carl come and live with them. Sorry to end on such a creepy note...Mom

Dear Doebbert Family,
Hi!!
It is so much FUN to see Sophia in her Demo Power Chair!! WOW!!! =-) I pray that it works out for her so she can have more freedom.
Also, it is so cute to hear that she is so gentle with Lila. It is also so good to hear that God has given her such a tender spirit, as you say she gets a sad look on her face when Lila cries. Oh, Shopia you are indeed such a gift from God!!!
I printed off the pictures for Great Auntie Ta....she'll be waiting to see them and to see how much you both have changed!!!

Little Lila May!! Whassup!! You sure are a mighty good lookin' little sprout!! I see Lila May has Mom's good looks!! That's good, because Daddy didn't have any to spare:) Sophia, your gonna hafta keep a close eye on that little sister of yours, much like I had to while your father was growing up:) Ok, ok..neither of us were qualified to keep a close eye on much of anything, but we were super duper good at watching each other learn life's lessons (that's code for we were troublemakers:). I am sure that will be different for you girls, at least if any of Momma's smarts came with those good looks;) See ya soon!!!

Dear Sophia...Your Christmas dress makes you look even more like a sugar plum. I wanted to send this message on Christmas Eve Day because I've been thinking about you constantly. I framed your picture with red velvet mat on the sides, and plopped it down where everyone can see it. They look, and they melt. Who can have a dismal thought when they look into your sweet face? We also saw pictures of you in your new "standing tall" gizmo (technical jargon is my specialty). I'll bet you enjoy the world from your new perspective. At least you have a better vantage point from which to give your daddy some of your "who is this nut?" looks when he's doing some of his looney acts. Andrea is a good sport, and laughs when he's acting up, but YOU, Sophia (wise beyond your months), keep him in line somewhat. Keep up the good work! Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, we'll see you and new little sister soon. We'll be sending down some presents with Aunt and Uncle Weiss because we know you'll probably be a little short in that department. HA! HA! HA ! HA ! HA! I'm such a WIT. (A NIT-wit). Love to you, and Daddy and Mommy...Grandma Linda

Hi Sweetheart - Grandpa Jerry here! We sent you a package to celebrate Autumn and your new weight gain.
You need something new to wear in your new stroller.
Grandma Linda is starting to twitch and shake because she hasn't seen you for over a week!!! Other new words we heard you say were long strings of "Oy! Oy! Oy! Oy! Oy! Oy! Oy!" When did you learn to speak Yiddish? You smarty pants!

Good morning Doug, Andrea, and Sophia,
It's great to hear from you all. Since we're not part of your "first" circle of friends it is difficult to inquire about your life even though we think about you often.
The best part is now knowing you all are growing through the whole experience.
Keep up all the good work! It's truly amazing where life's surprises come from.
We'll be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers, and check back with you on your journey.

Dear Beloved Sophia Karin...What power you have! You have turned Grannie Linda into a shameless braggart, Grandpa Jerry into a tireless chauffeur, and a significant portion of the universe into writers of messages of love, praise, and devotion. (I have been reading and enjoying your mail). In a few days I get to see you again, and hope to hear that you are getting your spit glob in just the right place in your throat to sing your gurgle song, and hear you make your 'click' sound with your tongue, see your big grin when I go "tock, tock" with my tongue, and hug and squeeze you and all the new weight you have put on. See you soon, Bright Eyes. Grandma Doebbert.
