HEY GUYS!!!! I am participating in the relay for life in South Saint Paul next Friday. Our team leader is making us special t-shirts and we had the oppurtunity to put a picture on of anyone we love who has dealt with cancer. I hope it is ok that I chose to put Connor's picture on my shirt, and to make a luminaria in his honor. I will take lots of pictures and either email them or bring them to the lake and show you. MISS YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! Can't wait to see you....probably Labor Day at the lake!!

To the Stokes Family,
Thank you so much for sharing your story of Connor with all of us at the Relay For Life last Friday night. It moved Wade and I to tears. We never met Connor, but he certainly touched a lot of lives and was a beautiful little boy. Thanks again for sharing such a personal story with us. Sincerely, Wade and Nancy Anderson

I was recently asked to visit the Leukemia website and contribute to friend's nomination, however, after reading through, I was deeply touched and inspired when I read Connor's story, as I have 2 young boys of my own. I wish you all the best in your hard work and dedication to such a wonderful cause. God Bless you and your family and adorable Connor!

Hi John and Tammy!

I just read the recent article published in the woodbury newspaper and wanted to reach out to you guys and let you know that I enjoyed hearing about all that you two are doing to continue to fight for people with cancer and keep the memory of Connor alive. I have not seen you two for sometime now, since Drew is not playing sports in Woodbury anymore, but I hope you and the family are all doing well. :)

Hey Stokes' (Tammy) This is a wonderful page! I had the pleasure of meeting Marc Cohn a few years back. He touched my life with his stories of his son whom he also last to leukemia. He will be forever in my fabric of who I am because I took a "flower of wisdom" from him. He told me "we bury people twice, the day we lose their body and the day we lose their memory". May Connor continue to thrive in your wonderful memories and stories. Many children and families will be nurtured by your stength and your work!

Hello Stokes Family,
I wanted to stop by and let you know about someting that happened a few days ago. We signed up for the Time to Fly Race in February like we do every year, and early this week in the mail we got our confirmation post card from them. On the front of the postcard are pictures from last years race and the race in 2005, I know because I can tell by the shirts that people had on.
Well, wouldn't you know that the biggest picture on the post card was in the upper right hand corner of the postcard and I immediately knew who's it was. Right there for everyone to see was a picture of the back of Connor's shirts that said Walking With An Angel and under it was paper stating In Memory of Connor Stokes. I'm not sure if you have one of those but I would be more than happy to send you the one I got.
I think of Connor often throughout the year and come here to visit and see his picture and just reflect on his life and his journey, but he is always at the fore front on my mind when I sign our family up for the race, this year the kids have recruited a bunch of people to raise money for Children's Cancer Research Fund and it's looking like we will have to form a team this year.
I hope you have a blessed week this week and your family will continue to be in throughts and prayers.

Hi Stokes,
Just wanted to say Hi. Today marks 6 years ago we met you at the hopital. We learned Peter had Leukemia & Conner was 6 weeks into treatment. Words come hard trying to explain the emotions. I get such a lump in my stomach going back to that day & reliving all of it. I remember all the goodies Conner had tucked away. Then down the road I understood why & then we had snacks munchies piled high on the kitchen counter at home. We never left the house without a bag of goodies. I have hard time leaving the house without bringing food or medicine with to this day. Peter still has that big plastic dinosaur on the shelf in his room that you guys gave him. You guys are in my thoughts & prayers all the time. Take care.

Dear Mr. Hallmark,

I am writing to you from heaven, and though it must appear,
A rather strange idea, I see everything from here,
I just popped in to visit, your stores to find a card,
A card of love for my parents, as this day for them is hard,
There must be some mistake I thought, every card you can imagine,
except I could not find a card, from a child that lives in heaven,
they are still a parent too, no matter where I reside,
I had to leave, they understand, but oh the tears they cried,
I thought that if I wrote to you, that you would come to know,
that though I live in heaven now, I still love my parents so,
they talk with me, and dreams with me, we still share laughter too,
memories are our way of speaking now, would you see what you can do?
my parents carry me in their heart, their tears they hide from sight,
they plants flowers in my garden, there my living memory dwells,
they writes to other grieving parents, trying to ease there pain as well,
so you see Mr. Hallmark, though I no longer live on earth,
I must find a way, to remind her of her wondrous worth,
they need to be honored, and be remembered too,
just as the children of the earth will do,
thank you Mr. Hallmark, I know you will do your best,
find a way to tell them, how much they mean to me,
until I can do it for myself, when she joins me in eternity.

I know Christmas must be so hard for you although I can't comprehend how difficult it must be.

All my love,

Viks

Hello to the Stokes Family,
I was going through my bookmarks on my computer, and happened upon Connor's page. It's been 2 yrs now, and to see his smiling face, is still enough to bring a lump in the throat. I read through some of the entries, and it's a blessing to hear that you have a new addition to your family. I scrolled back to Feb 22, 2004, when I was compelled to sign the guest book back then. I never knew your family, but I just wanted to let you know that he is not forgotten. Even to a stranger. God's Blessings to your family, and have a blessed holiday.

I was honored to be a part of Team Connor last week during the Light the Night walk. A lot of time has passed since Connor went to heaven, but he is still very much a part of our daily lives. I am sure that Connor was pulling for Eileen during the marathon last week too...she was wearing the necklace Connor made her for good luck a few years ago. Take Care.

We were at the time to fly race this past weekend, we have participated for the past couple of years and our kids look forward to it every year. I just wanted to stop by and let you know that you are always on my mind and I have followed Connor's site for years, so many I've lost count by now, also to let you know the shirts your family was wearing on Saturday were the most beautiful I have ever seen and the saying on the back moved me to tears every time I saw one. We will continue to support Childhood Cancer Research and we will walk until there is a cure. Keeping you all in our prayers every day.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. (Helen Keller)

The above is true about the happiness emited by Connor's smile! With his smile, you can just feel something good in your heart because of it!

Hi. Just wanted to let you know I think of you and wanted to wish your family a Happy Memorial Day.

Taps

Day is done
Gone the sun
From the Lakes
From the hills
From the sky.
All is well,
Safely rest.
God is nigh.
Fading light
Dims the sight
And a star
Gems the sky,
Gleaming bright
From afar,
Drawing nigh,
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.
