Hi Thoma family. Scott - you helped us rebuild our house after a fire in 2005 and I remember talking with you about Abby and what your family was going through. I am thrilled that things are going well and just know that you and your family enter our thoughts when we think of that year and the journey's we all face in life...So glad for you all to hear things are going well with that gorgeous girl of yours. Already an activist in 3rd grade - she will change the world. Well done. All the best to you in the future and we will sign in now and then just to see how she is doing...
Blessings,

Hey Abby,
You were one of our honored heros at school for Pennies for Patients. Our goal was $400 and guess how much we got? $2503.23!! YAY! For each $50 we took off a letter in the word "leukimaia" Just thought you might want to know that. :) :) Now there can be more kids like you...kids who kicked ALL's butt!!!!!!

Hi Thoma's! I just wanted to let you know that our group of runners is growing! We are all going to run in Memory of McKenna and in honor of Abby and all the other kids at the Seattle Rock N Roll Marathon in June! I'm so excited to start the fundraising. One of my ideas is just putting faces of all the kids we know who are fighting or who have fought Leukemia and lymphoma. I think they'll be a HUGE hit and of course I'll want Abby on there as an honoree! I love you guys and hope all is well!

And to read my words again reminds of how much she had to go through to get to Heaven. She truly deserves the beauty, rest, peace, laughter and fun that she is having with all of her friends. Hi Abby~
Good to hear from your mom! You are always in our prayers. We pray that your appointments go really good on friday! Tell mom to e-mail us when she has a chance to let us know how everything is going!
We would try to see you on friday, but Nikki has been sick the past two days. She has missed work the last two days, and will have to cancel her dentist appointment for tomorrow. IF she isn't feeling better by friday, she will have to go in for a throat culture and see her doctor.
TAKE CARE AND WE WILL BE THINKING ABOUT YOU ON FRIDAY!!!

April Fools Day
Good Morning Abby & family!
We had a normal day of school yesterday and thought maybe
with the extra snow/sleet/ice we would maybe be 2 hours
late today. BUT NOT! Kevin said that the back roads were
not the best, but once we make it to the main roads it was
smooth sailing!

Nikki returns to the clinic friday to have her blood counts
checked again. We are hoping that the drop in her platelets
was due to a little virus she had that day!! Always keeping
those doctors on the tips of thier toes!

Everyone had a chance around here with the crud. Hope your
family excaped it!

So did Abby name her 3 deers? I bet they were really pretty
in the new fresh snow.

Have a great day and hope to see you guys sometime this
summer. We all will have to get together for a fun reunion!

We will be counting on the Packers to take care of those cheater :) Patriots come the superbowl. Brett and co. did disappoint with the loss to Dallas though. My guys (the chargers) play KC today. Thank God for football, it is a great distraction around here. Evan would have been with me laying on the couch listening to me yelling and screaming at the TV. Now he looks down and laughs at his mommy. He and McKenna are causing trouble in heaven now. So glad Abby is hanging tough. Gina

Hi!
We looked all over the clinic for you today and couldn't
find you! We were there from noon-3:30. Saw Dr. Rodriques
around 2:00, and found out that we had missed you! Maybe
next time when you come back to the clinic we can see each
other.

We sure hoped that your counts were still good and your
consults went super good!!

Nikki's counts were good, so they had to up her 6mp's
once again. She also got her flu shot over at the PITC
after she got her vincristine. Her shoulder is very sore
this evening.

No school tomorrow so we all can just relax for the entire
day. (well i know Nikki & Kyle will)

I think tomorrow I will move the Llama's water tanks into the barn, as the good 60's, 70's and 80's are gone until spring! I am not ready for winter to come, but it will be here before we know it!

Have a great weekend! Hope to hear from you again soon!

Hey Guys,

Well I thought that I would drop a note and say "hi"
to you. We're planning on being at the clinic as well
on Thursday, the 19th and are planning on seeing
Dr. Rodriquez as well. I think blood is at noon and
then see her at 1:45, and over to the hospital for some
good ol' vincristine :)

Hope that everything is going good on your end and
maybe we'll see you on Thursday!!

Take Care,

Hello Abby & family~

Rain...Rain...Rain...and more Rain....all day...
That is a good thing, as we needed some rain!

Tell your dad to e-mail Nikki's Uncle Dave..they
have something in common...GUITARS! Dave has been
playing guitars for about 40 years...not sure how
many he has....BUT THERE IS A LOT OF THEM!! He
would really enjoy hearing from your dad...This
is his e-mail address:
dcgtr@aol.com

Nikki was able to work her 2 hours today..her foot
swelled up a little....but we know how to handle that!

Kyle had his hour of driving classes...he had to show
the man what he knew about parallel parking today! The
man told him that he did a great job...or at least that
is what Kyle told me! lol

Kevin is having a birthday this monday...so we did a
little b-day shopping for him...Tools..Tools...that is
what he always wants!!

Take care and we hope to hear from you again soon. Be
sure to come and see us next time you are in the Rochester
area!!!

Good Morning Abby & family~

Love the new picture...You look GREAT!!
I bet you are getting excited for school.
When do you start? Kyle will start on
Sept. 5th. He will be in 10th grade! Nikki
is taking this year off with her treatments
still going on.

We know that Sam will love school too! He will
have a ton of fun with all the new friends he
will get to meet!

Nikki has been making quite a few bracelets, it
sure gives her something to do! She is supposed to
work on thursday for her 2 hours, and Kyle will have
his 1 hour driving class that afternoon.

We might be heading to the clinic today too. Nikki's
ankle has been really bothering her the last 2 days.
The big walking boot they want her to wear, hurts
her foot way to much to even walk with....she is getting
really bad shin pains, and can hardly walk with the
crutches...I just don't know what is going on with
all of this...they say it is chemo related~

HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY>>>>WE WILL CHECK YOUR WEB PAGE
LATER TODAY TO SEE HOW YOUR BLOOD WORK IS DOING!

I think the hot and humid weather is gone

Nikki is feeling pretty good againg. She has
been busy making bracelets and ankle bracelets.
She ordered a ton of new stuff off the internet
last week and hopes everything gets here by
today!

Just checking in to see how you are feeling. We
think about you and your family everyday!

I bet you are getting excited for school to start.

Hi Abby~
Sorry to hear that you had a fever & Virus. We sure hope you are feeling
much better today!

Good thing the new AC is installed at
your house. It is so hot outside. Nikki
doesn't even go outside when it is this
hot. Her skin is so sensitve with the
chemo, that she will get a sunburn on her
arms with being outside for a short time
even with sunscreen!

Yesterday Nikki had her appointments,
you can have mom or dad read about the
update on her caring bridge.
www.caringbridge.org/mn/nikki

Today she took the entire day of laying
around and watched a movie with a friend.
I am sure over the next few days she will
need more rest from the chemo she got yesterday.

What has little SAM been us to lately?!
I bet the two of you have a TON of fun when
you are together! Have you been swimming lately?
Kyle has been out in the pool almost
everyday to cool off.

Kevin bought another dump truck at
the state auction last weekend. He spent the
entire day today taking off the plow,
sander, and the under body kit.
He hopes to have it ready for next week
to go to work with....

Have a GREAT WEEKEND>>>>>
HOPE YOU ARE FEELING MUCH BETTER>>>
STAY INSIDE WITH THE AC>>>
DO NOT STAY OUT IN THE SUN TO LONG>>>>
IT IS VERY HOT OUT THERE!

Hi Abby~

Glad to hear that you are doing good.
I bet Sam missed you those 4 days he
was with grandma & grandpa!

Nikki went to the clinic today and her
counts are all good. They told her that
she must have a little virus. Other then
that she is doing good too.

Tomorrow Kyle and Kevin are going to
go golfing with 2 other guys. It should
be HOT HOT HOT!!!

This weekend is Eyota Days. It used to be
a lot of fun...but over the past 3-5 years it
hasn't been to much fun. After the parade it seems
like everyone heads for home. Then almost every
year at the street dance it rains. It would be
great if it rained this year at the street dance!

Nikki is supposed to work her 2 hours tomorrow from
2-4pm. I will plan to take her to work....help her
unload the wheelchair...wheel her into work and then
either shop for the 2 hours...or go find a nice shade
tree and read a book?!?!

Have a GreAT weekend...Hope to see you all again soon!

Hope today is a great day for you!!
I bet you are happy that your doctor
appointment is done!

Today Kyle has his first 2 hours of driving.
Last night we went to his basketball game and
he got 5 points.

Today we have to take Nikki into the clinic.
She didn't feel good yesterday...Go and have
her blood checked out and see her doctor.

It is supposed to be 93 degrees outside today.
With the AC inside and the pool outside we should
be able to handle that!

Take care and hope to see/hear from you soon!

It was so nice to meet you and hear about your family the other day. You brought so much encouragement into my life and just made me want to do more and help more people. I will definately call you and your family when my boyfriend and I are down in the cities. I can not wait to meet that shining star daughter of yours, she sounds amazing! I know we will for sure be in the cities around the State Fair time. So, if not before then, we'll see you around the end of August. Keep me posted if you have anything you would like me to help you out with regarding the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I would gladly jump at the opportunity. Once again, thank you so much for the inspirational chat we had.. I will keep you and your family in my prayers! Talk to you soon! Have a wonderful summer!

It was such a treat to meet you at "The Prom" last night, and thank you for bringing your super dad, Scott. Watching you from 1 table away, we weren't sure you wanted to be there. But you know what? we saw a shy, timid little girl, open up and blossom into the little lady she really is. With your spirit you showed us and other's that you can beat this thing called cancer, unselfishly, while helping other's at the same time. There is a whole world of possibilities waiting for you out there. Go and get them!!
Thank you for all the "hugs" and the "Hi-fives" and making our night complete. Maybe in the future we can meet the rest of your great family.
Scott, the pleasure was all ours. Please give your beautiful wife and son a big "Hug" from us and rest assured we will keep your family in our prayer's and thought's.
Abby, thanks for being Abby!!

Hi Abby, Scott and family,
Congratulations on your last chemo treatment Abby - I met your dad this morning at a meeting, and he and several others from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society had so MANY great things to say about your courageous fight overcoming your Leukemia. My little boy also has ALL and like you, has been very brave and strong while traveling this "journey" towards a cure! You are an inspiration to mom's like me - and even though we've not met, I want you to know how proud I am of you and how much "hope" your dad's speech this morning gave me in terms of walking this path. Thanks for sharing your story - and I look forward to meeting you one day! Stay strong sweet girl!
And Scott - thanks, I needed to meet you today, you don't know how great your timing was! You all will be in our family's thoughts and prayers - and Abby, you will be added to our family's prayer line! God Bless with Love to you all, Kathy, Ken, Andrew and Michaela Poepping

GREAT NEWS ABBY!!!
We are so glad that you are done with all
the chemo appointments!!! I know you will
be glad to have that port taken out next
month too!!! The friends that we have
made through all of this...told Nikki that
when the time comes and you get your port
out, have them clean it up and be sure
to have them let you keep it!

It is windy and cool here today...we all
were going to go golfing, but no one
wants to go because it is not warm to
go.

Nikki is sick of using her wheelchair
and we have to go back to the bone specialist
next week to have her foot looked at again.
3 months in a wheelchair is NOT what she
wants to do for the summer!!

Nikki had her blood counts yesterday and
finally her ANC's have gone back up. We
have to increase her medicines soon, but
they decided NOT to do that today!

Have a GREAT day. Your new pictures that
is on your caringbridge today is
VERY VERY VERY CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Abby,
I was just visiting the website of another friend and remembered your dad gave me your address. Your dad is helping us rebuild our house after a fire that we had last year. We have four children - and three of them are in school. Lucie is five and she will go to kindergarten next year. I bet you are excited to have the summer coming and all the outdoor play time you will get. Make sure you keep that dad of yours busy playing! I think of you often and I know my kids would love to meet you someday. Be well and enjoy this lovely weather. We hope you have a fun summer! Until later -- Tamra Hoeschen (& John, Hildie, Oliver, Lucie and Ruby)

Hello Abby~

Sounds like you had a GREAT time on your trip!!

Did you get a lot of snow yesterday? I think we got
about 6-8 inches...just enough to have another NO
SCHOOL DAY. That is the second one this week!

Nikki and her Prom date J.D. are watching a movie
tonight. The four of us went to pick out his Tux
yesterday. Nikki had a LOT of fun!

Tomorrow we are going to Rochester to watch the
boys basketball game. If they win this one, we
will go to state next week.

Well that is about it for today...Just wanted to
say HI and that we are thinking about you all the
time.

I think the next time we have to go to the clinic
is April 9th...hopefully not any sooner!!

Hi Abby~
Are you having fun at Pre-School? It won't be long and you will be in school and having a ton of fun! Nikki hit maintenance July 28th! She started her first week with 149 pills to take! This week she takes 59...which is still a lot, but hopefully in 12 weeks that number will go down too! Nikki's Make A Wish is to repaint her room, hardwood floors, new sleigh bed, dresser and a real cool chair! The room is all painted...we did that the other day, and in 10 days the floor should be here and everything done by the time school starts! It is looking pretty nice up there! She had her room painted the same green as her prom dress was! Looks cool! Tell mom, dad, and little Sam hi too! Take care and have mom update your journal...we are wondering what you are doing?!

Hope you guys are getting moved into your new house! We have been here at the hospital for 4 days and not sure when we will get out again. Did you like all that new snow a few weeks ago?? Hi Abby~
Well we are back at the hospital once again. Nikki did get to go home for 3 days. She had a really good turn out Saturday at her Benefit. Went for a nice drive/ride Sunday as it was so nice outside, and then Monday was appointments. Tuesday we came back to St.mary's and will be here at least until Sunday. 2 other patients that Nikki knows are here now too. Nice seeing them again....but wish it wasn't at the hospital. We miss you so much. I bet you are growning up so fast!! Hopefully sometime this summer we can all get together and have a picnic. Tell mom, dad, and little Sam hi from us too. Take GOOD care of yourself and tell mom to let us know if you ever have to come back to rochester ok...

Hello from the a now white New Prague, MN!

About 8 inches of snow here yesterday and a winter storm warning for most of the day. School was let out early, and Justin's basketball game was cancelled, and so were Ali's basketball games for this morning.

Justin, Bryce and I were busy this morning shoveling snow.

Ali had Junior Olympic volleyball this afternoon, her team won 6 out of 9 games. They really had a good time.

Wyatt and Carter spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Rech's. Carter told me that they got everything they asked for. LOL Why doesn't that surprise me? Wyatt told me that he wasn't coming home with me, that too did not surprise me!

If you haven't already joined our support group WYATT'S FRIENDS I'D LOVE TO WELCOME YOU TO OUR GROUP, PLEASE CONSIDER JOINING. Come meet other parents with children with cancer or a disability, or those who are learning and helping support us.

Hope you are having a good weekend!

So how many geese do you see on your trips to Rochester? That was one of the kids favorite things to do when we had appointments there. Stop at the bread store and feed the geese and ducks.
Of course you had to be careful where you walked....and the shoes may have road home in the back of the van in a bag....but oh well the fun was so worth the doo doo.
Hope this part of your adventure goes well, we are thinking about you.

Hey Abby! We're sure you'll be home soon and feeling better! Nikki Dog has been scratching ... and scratching ... and scratching! The doctor says the allergy shots she has to take won't really help much until sometime next year! YIKES ...! Just last month, Nikki had a bad itch and had to visit the doctor again. Doctor Diaz is from Mexico and shaved a big round area on Nikki's behind, and gave Nikki a couple different medicines to make her stop itching and her sores to heal up. She also has to wear a big plastic cone on her head so she won't bite at her itchy areas. Whew ... hope I never have to wear a cone on MY head because my behind itches!!! We'll see you soon! What a cutie! So glad that you came to visit Wyatt's site:) It is also good to read that Abby's counts are good. We will be gone to St. Louis for the Beckwith-Wiedemann conference and clinic and will check back in with you when we get back. We have some major scans on the 15th, and if all goes well we will be done with chemotherapy.
Big hugs to Abby, she is beautiful.
